Excellent! Perfect for that boat. I have a lowe1440mod v and I have a 1999 merc 9.9hp and a 1987 merc 20hp . Both 2 bangers obviously. I get 21-22mph with the 9.9 and 29-30 mph with the 20hp. Big difference in hole sgot and ability to move a load. With 2 guys and some gear I get 18mph with the 9.9 and 27mph with the 20.
You can't beat an older 2 stroke small outboard for tin boats. Lightweight compared to new 4 strokes and faster holeshots and top speed and great longevity. OMC or Mercury for me and I've had several 9.9 and 15 of both makes on 14 semi v rowboats and a 1440 flat bottom jon boat...I honestly have more fun on them most times than my fiberglass full size bass boat...A whole lot cheaper to own too!

Kid Fully loaded jon boat 12x36 has all the bells and whistles and than some.
Installed last year stainless prop 9.25 x 10 pitch top end speed peek at 19.0 mph solid 18.7 yes stainless worth the up grade investment also don't chip or crack or brake easy like aluminum props. Looking now upgrade my outboard prop 2019 Tohatsu 20hp Efi four stroke 9.25 x11.5 pitch Aluminium t prop trying find a stainless 9.25x 13pitch no luck . only can find a 9.25x 12pitch if I cannot find 13 this go with the 12 pitch stainless
Thanks for the info! Great breakdown on everything, I'd like to get a 20hp and let it fly! 😎😁🏇
