No Sound From Soundbar? Common Issues and Ways to Fix. Samsung | LG | Sonos | Sony

  • If you're getting no sound from your soundbar and it's connected via HDMI Arc, eArc or Optical then go through these troubleshooting steps to fix the audio issue. This will work for most TV's (Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, TCL, Vizio, Hisense etc) and Soundbars (Sonos, Bose, Sennheiser etc) as it's normally an issue with the HDMI Connection which is universal between brands.       It worked,thanks a lot. Your advice was the only one it worked. I have someting to add. My Samsung Tv's smart hub can recognize the devices that plugged in. My problems begin with that I believe. Now I cancelled that when my tv tried to recognize my devices again after this reset procedure.

      Hello. I am getting the sound when I connect TV's earc hdmi to hdmi in the soundbar. But when I try to connect the PS5 directly to the hdmi in of the soundbar i do get a video on the tv screen but no audio from the bar. Pls help

      Hi, we have tried everything!!!!!! all of my other soundbars have worked with my DVD player but not this new one. I just purchased a new plug the only open spot left in both is the USB port. Hopeful this will work otherwise I do not know what else to do!

    It was as simple as unplugging both of them for 10secs! I’ve been suffering for 2 years having to load the Bluetooth option on settings everytime I turned the tv on, finally got fed up and bought a new soundbar and the same thing was happening and followed your video and success! Thanks!

      This worked for me. I had everything connected right, settings correct yet had no sound. In the end switched both off for 10 seconds and then turned back on and works perfectly fine. Phew! 😓

    My Samsung soundbar unexpectedly stopped working this morning. For years I have been using a y adapter that despite being chewed by my rabbit, still worked (wrapped with electrical tape). I knew at some point I had to replace it and I was convinced today was the day. I went out to buy a new audio adapter, to my surprise, still no sound. 8 hours later, I decided to enroll in
    TH-cam University, hoping someone taught a course on this subject. This was the first video I clicked on, and all it took was simply unplugging the cords for 10 seconds. My sounds is back on. Thank you immensely for making this video.

    I bought a new tv, went from Samsung tv with Samsung sound bar, and now to a Sony tv with the same Samsung sound bar. I couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working correctly, but then watched this video and put both HDMI connections to the eARC - boom problem solved. Thank you!

    Unplugged the sound bar for a minute, changed out multiple cables, went through all the settings & whatever else I could think of. Found this video and it was the TV that needed to be unplugged for a minute, I didn’t think to do that for some reason. Thank you!

    My soundbar and tv connected and all. But NO SOUND came out!!!
    For an hour exploring and testing this and that settings. Unplugging and plugging back. Nothing works.
    Until my last resort, turning off both tv and the soundbar for 10secs. And turning both back on.

    Note : If everything seems in place and connected but no sound came out. Turn both devices off for 10 sec guys.

    Been using one sound bar with an optical cable for a year. The cable randomly stopped working one day but all other sources (Bluetooth, HDMI) worked fine. I watched your video and turned on PCM mode and it worked again! Thanks a lot!

    I'd done the unplugging/powering down tricks PLENTY,
    The recommendation to unplug all other HDMI cables was a new solution to me.. and it WORKED!

    ultimate guide - if your soundbar has no sound after connecting to the TV with bluetooth, try this:
    unplug both the TV and soundbar
    wait for 10s
    Replug the tv first, after the tv runs normally, and you see the contents in the setting menu shows up, appearing the software runs fully, then replug the soundbar. that's how i fixed the problem. thanks for this video.
    i did not unplug any other cable connections on the tv during the process

    I have been pulling my hair out over two days tying to get a Bose 600 soundbar working with the eArc HDMI port on my LG Smart TV with no success. I came across this video and followed the instructions to unplug the power from both TV and soundbar, then unplug all connections to my TV, then plug in the tv to power and wait 20 seconds for the TV to power up, then plug the soundbar to power, then plug the soundbar HDMI to the eArc connection on the TV and then select a Amazon Prime show. NOW SOUND IS COMING OUT OF THE SOUNDBAR! Then I plugged in the cable box and my Blu-Ray DVD player. All is working now!
    It’s important to follow the sequence outlined in this video.

    Thank you! I've been working on configuring my TLC Alto 6+ Soundbar & subwoofer to my TLC ROKU 4300 series 50" TV for over 3 hours. First of all, it did not come with a Digital Optical cable which is a much easier setup. I followed your advice and completely disconnected everything and turned all devices off. I simple powered up the TV first and then I powered up the Soundbar and then connected the HDMI cable to the HDMI ARC ports on both. Once it confirmed that my HDMI ARC Port was active I knew it was connected.

    Thanks. Did the "unplug tv and soundbar". That worked! Every once in a while our Bose 700 acts up and no sound comes from it even though we haven't touched any cables, etc.

    Thank you very much! My problem was no sound from my Samsung Q995B soundbar despite being connected to it both via cable from the tv and BT from the phone. I could see changes I made to sound level on screen, but no actual sound. After disconnecting and reconnecting power and hdmi cables the problem was resolved. Great video.

    I had messed with my tv and sound bar for an hour plus. I had everything working but no audio. I swapped hdmi cables then unplugged both the tv and the sound bar. Let the tv turn on and play audio then plugged in the sound bar. Instant sound!!!!! Thanks great video!!!

    Wow. I found your video today. My sound would not come from my Sony Soundbar when I turned on my Samsung TV and the Sony Soundbar. I unplugged the tv and the soundbar for 10 seconds and plugged the tv in first and then the soundbar and there's sound. Thank you so much!!

    My Vizio bar stopped working on New years Eve. Had to use my Sony 4k speakers since. I tried everything , till I unplugged the TV,and the sound bar. Plugged the TV in first,then the bar , turned the TV speakers all the way down and turned on the bar and it's working. 😅😊😅😅 Thanks young man for giving me ideas what to try.

    A80J here. Thank you so much man. Just had a death in the family and I literally was crying because all I wanted to do was escape. So the only difference with me is after replacing all hdmi's the sound went off again. Then I did it again and disconnected HDMI 2 - The closest to the edge of TV with an older 4k HDMI cable. Now even my PS5 will turn on TV again and soundboard says TV ARC again. This is insane!

    Samsung powerbar was working well with sony TV until it didn't ... no control with remote nor any volume at all. Went through the first three steps suggested in video and problem was resolved. Thanks!!!

    Omg!! The sticker marking the HDMI ports on my Samsung was lowered one slot so that the ports were mismarked. It was just dark enough for me to not catch it sooner. Thank you for helping me. Your troubleshooting made me slow down and catch the error. 😢

    I just got a new TV and was struggling to get the sound bar to work after setting everything up. You mentioned the Blu ray player so I unplugged that HDMI plug from the TV and then unplugged the TV and sound bar from the wall. Plugged everything in but the blu-ray player and it works again.

    My Bose soundbar quit broadcasting. Looking at the sound settings, it was getting a signal.
    I followed the part of unplugging everything and the order of re-plugging the power to the TV, etc. .

    An extra step to try that fixed it for me: Enable HDMI CEC in your TV settings.
    Explanation (from what I can tell, I found out about all this while troubleshooting):
    HDMI ARC is different than HDMI eARC. ARC was introduced in 2009, eARC (an enhanced version of ARC, hence the 'e') was introduced in 2017. Your TV/soundbar may support ARC but not eARC. The main difference seems to just improved audio quality due to more bandwidth. However, ARC requires HDMI CEC, a standard to support electronics controlling other electronics over HDMI. eARC does not. Although it seems that some TV models will allow you to use ARC while CEC is turned off. Apparently having CEC on can cause some issues like the TV unexpectedly turning on/off or switching inputs. Your mileage may vary. Hope this helps!

    WORKED! Absolutely no clue why it decided to separate itself from the TV, but it did. Samsung sound bars have great sound but are fussy sometimes. Now if I could just get it to come on & go off with the TV I'd be in good shape. thank you!!

      I would suggest that you look for and download the manual for your model.

      Getting the manual will help you with syncing it to turn off when you turn off the tv. And then on when you turn on the tv.

    You're amazing! That worked. I've had my Samsung 8 series plugged in for years to my JBL sound bar through the ARC output. Just yesterday I got an ERROR on the sound bar and no sound would come out. I tried everything except your recommendation of unplugging everything in a specific order and plugging them back in. I just found your video and tried it and it worked! I'm so happy, phew! Thank you :)

    I had to replace my SAMSUNG HW-Q930B, I Just received my new one , i plugged everything exactly the way it was before i made the return but had no sound but the blue lights were all solid blue, so i knew it was minor , then i seen ur video , all i did was unplugged the SONY BRAVIA TV & The SAMSUNG Soundbar, then plugged them in, TV First then Soundbar & it worked thanks a million!!

      Somehow i lost the actual Mount that it came with, so had to get a universal mount that came with adhesive piece to keep Soundbar from falling, Well i didnt put it on when i had to take TV down off the tv mount , i hit the soundbar off from over 4 feet on to the Hard Tile , 2 days in a row i did that , it broke a small piece off the corner, but yet it worked great ,but didnt want a banged up Soundbar, so i just wanted to replace it while i still could.

    YESSSSS Vizio sound bar wasn’t working!!!! I unplugged everything waited did the tv first! EVERYTHING WORKED! THANK YOU!!! I was so frustrated!!!!!

    I was about to throw my sound bar and TV off the second floor verandah. I was using the sound bar and TV and always had issues with it. it was literally just putting it in arc hdmi that fixed it. Thanks mate really helped.

    Thank you! Tried everything on our newer Klipsch 600 because the sound on the Analog stopped working. Did a reset- thought it just died. Just unplugged everything for 10 seconds and now it works again!

    A little advice i figured out! If using a digital optical cable and you have sound coming out from sound bar when using tv but no audio for blueray/dvd or any other devices hooked up to tv make sure you change the audio source on those devices to PCM
