It's weird because Tau is considered top tier throughout Dark Crusade and well into Soulstorm and yet I see them lose a disproportionate amount of games. I think part of the issue is that the skill ceiling is very high so an expert with Tau can feel oppressive but otherwise your squads are just tied up all the time or running away trying to get positioning. Also doesn't help that if I remember correctly they are hardcountered by Necron wraith and Necron was the other "top tier" in Dark Crusade.

Hey! This game is still fairly active in the vanilla community. More people play vanilla than the mods. I would recommend joining either the DoW SS UK server or Mr Landshark's server on Discord if you want to find some dedicated players to play with. Did you know that the harbinger drones take metallurgy And that Nobz in mega armor have a bonus against daemons (aka your Krootox) Trick from a Kau yeet main: place yor leaping hounds behind the FW. Someone will always try to tie them up and then they get intercepted with the knockback leap without needing to micro on time.
kauyon is best but all you need their ability to increase pop. the key to tau is the aircraft and the drone layer, thats it. all the other units can be mixed anyway.

My favorite thing to do on main headquarters when I got bored was to make an army of gun drones and just mob everything. Definitely not an efficient strat in multiplayer though as matches are not long enough to really get your economy high enough to spam the little guys.
I know this is eight months old, and I know that this isn't really a big deal, but it is a pet peeve of mine and if nothing else mentioning it is cathartic; "kroot" is both singular and plural. They're not referring to themselves in the third person when they say "Kroot stand with you" or anything like that.

Poor drone squads get no love. Their whack-A-mole ability is underappreciated. They also explode, causing knockback and damage, when they die.
When talking about Crisis Suit Flamer upgrade, you didn't mention how effective they are against buildings.

Can't guarantee it, I'm not familiar with how much Tau have changed in that mod
Vaguely in that all the units have similar roles, but they are fairly different. This is very helpful for tau in the unification mod however.
