    I had a problem, the nodraw was leaking out of the skybox causing it to fail compiling gladly i watched this tutorial before hand and it became very handy thank you.

    A waterfall is usually a prop. I know there's one for TF2, but I'm not sure if you want it for a different game.

    Never mind. Solution is func_breakable and than at flags you enable 'Break on touch' and it breaks as soon you walk over it

    @3kliksphilip Thanks for the help, and I was able to find out the problem. Apparantly, the skybox had a leak, and therefore the water couldn't render.

    Make a block, make all the faces "Nodraw" then on the top face (the face you will be looking at) make that the water texture.

    What if you accidentally give an object the water property and it behaves like water now and crashes the game. How do you fix?

    @FoxY1233 not only does the skybox have to be completely sealed but nothing outside of it. like a prop sticking out or something. and the sliding door is just "func_door"

    My water works fine and looks good from outside, but when you are underwater and look up, you cannot see out of the water, you can just see opaque blue.
    How do I fix it?

    In the video, it said nothing about the skybox being visible. Mine is invisible, causing the world look like I'm phsyco.

    That's probably a combination of water and some kind of entity that adds velocity to characters. Did you play that Japenese Surf Map? That one has the speed water.

    The compiler makes the entity. But It will ask you to make one or something like that.

    @ClicksPoP You can make a bus but you can't steer it.
    Simply look at his train tutorial.
    It'd work like that.
    The only way to make a steerable one would be to make a prop, code it, texture it, whatever, it all takes a very long time.
    If you want something simple, stick with trains.
    I think it might be possible to make the train turn, I'm not sure.

    i tried to do a pool.when you look at the water .. you dont see the texture over it,gets random nodraw around it under the walls ...its just weird

    @3kliksphilip I found out why. The texture has to start out as nodraw texture first. I forgot about that.

    When i look at the water frrom the outside it looks like nothings there but when i go inside it it looks fine

    He needs an animated material with blended normal maps. I have a watery effect for a jumpgate/stargate in my last video, but I made it in the Unreal Engine 3.
    The material editor works the same as in Max or Maya so it's very easy to learn and you get the same results but in real-time (minus raytracing).

    Thank you once again. Is there any way that I can make an object break when I walk into a zone, I want a weapon somewhere in a corner, But when you walk to that weapon the ground will break and you fall into a hole.

    hey. well i made a map with a lot of water in it [supposed to be main part] but when i compiled it, there was no water wat so ever, not even invisible [wich is bad scince u fall from area at the top of the skybox so it makes you lose health

    but the water is solid and yes i did evrything here

    Theis999, if you make a map for Gmod, use the Half-Life 2 map preset. CS has items that will not work in Gmod.

    I got a problem, When I go in my map I just can't see it from above but when I shoot in it I see the splash and when I walk in it I hear the sound. I tried so much but it all didn't work. When I am in the water and look up I see the water... Please help.

    filter "dev" in the texture browser, you'll see a few orange and gray textures and that's them.

    Im making a jump map in TF2 (You know soldier rocket jump over water, if you land you land in the water, you get ported back) but the water is all black/purple checkered, what could be the cause? Its the exact same place as trigger_teleport

    I'm having so much trouble getting the damn water to show ingame..
    When I apply the texture to the box for the water, ti does shows up in Hammer, but when I compile the map and run it, it's gone. I was able to hear the sound and the water "effect", but no visual on the texture.

    Thanks for the tutorial, I made a big hole in my map that you will fall in and I made a small water ground, If it would work as intended you should't take damage but I do take damage and die, How do I fix this?

    ok so ive made water before using this tutorial and it worked fine. i tried to make it on my new map and something is wrong with it and underwater it looks fine but above water it does the same thing that the sky does if you have no skybox any idea why it is doing that?

    I have a problem with my water. Its not a leak I can see the water fine but it seems to mess up my lighting. When I look at a certain angle from just about anywhere on the map it seems to either go fullbright or mess with the shadows or something. I have had this problem on two separate maps and don't know how to fix it. Please help...

    This has nothing to do wit this vid but i recently brought hl2 ep2 and wanted to make a map for it, so i load up source sdk and make the game ep2 double click hammer and it says: Game is currently no under steam/steamapps/benhewi/ hl2 ep2/ ep2 amd is invalid. WTF HELP! and ive played it and refreshed content.

    COMMENT PART 2!
    Trouble is, the water didn't take to nicely to this and resorted to bcoming a simple block of water with no splashs, buoyancy or any solilidty to speak of (accept against physics props). Is thier any entity you you can name which can either resolve this issue, or sugges an entity that I can make that water and assign it's parent to the tanker?
    Also, I'm using fully working enviroment lighting and HDR with cubemaps built.
    Help plz! :S

    Hey nice video, but my problem is that I do not know how to set ambient reflection in the water it should serve entity (env_cubemaps) and that the water ripples (?). Hamer is installed on a laptop with b830 processor and integrated Intel HD 2000 graphics with DX 11 May be a fault in the hardware?

    had the same problem, check for leaks using some feature, use the valve developer wiki to find out which.

    @3kliksphilip My water dosent work, no leaks. It works if i go under water, but if im over the water, it dosent work,
