I had a problem, the nodraw was leaking out of the skybox causing it to fail compiling gladly i watched this tutorial before hand and it became very handy thank you.

@FoxY1233 not only does the skybox have to be completely sealed but nothing outside of it. like a prop sticking out or something. and the sliding door is just "func_door"
My water works fine and looks good from outside, but when you are underwater and look up, you cannot see out of the water, you can just see opaque blue. How do I fix it?
That's probably a combination of water and some kind of entity that adds velocity to characters. Did you play that Japenese Surf Map? That one has the speed water.
@ClicksPoP You can make a bus but you can't steer it. Simply look at his train tutorial. It'd work like that. The only way to make a steerable one would be to make a prop, code it, texture it, whatever, it all takes a very long time. If you want something simple, stick with trains. I think it might be possible to make the train turn, I'm not sure.
I need some help, im making a map with a pool area , by using the instruction the video says , and the water never appears , iv tried pressing the run map button and the save button and as save. please help.
He needs an animated material with blended normal maps. I have a watery effect for a jumpgate/stargate in my last video, but I made it in the Unreal Engine 3. The material editor works the same as in Max or Maya so it's very easy to learn and you get the same results but in real-time (minus raytracing).

COMMENT PART 2! Trouble is, the water didn't take to nicely to this and resorted to bcoming a simple block of water with no splashs, buoyancy or any solilidty to speak of (accept against physics props). Is thier any entity you you can name which can either resolve this issue, or sugges an entity that I can make that water and assign it's parent to the tanker? Also, I'm using fully working enviroment lighting and HDR with cubemaps built. Help plz! :S
Hey nice video, but my problem is that I do not know how to set ambient reflection in the water it should serve entity (env_cubemaps) and that the water ripples (?). Hamer is installed on a laptop with b830 processor and integrated Intel HD 2000 graphics with DX 11 May be a fault in the hardware?
didnt work. i cant actualy see the water it just looks like the outside of the map even when theres something behind it but i can swim in it just not see it properly

A waterfall is usually a prop. I know there's one for TF2, but I'm not sure if you want it for a different game.
It's funny, SDK Hammer is the first editor that I used that makes map making so easy :D

Never mind. Solution is func_breakable and than at flags you enable 'Break on touch' and it breaks as soon you walk over it

Make a block, make all the faces "Nodraw" then on the top face (the face you will be looking at) make that the water texture.

What if you accidentally give an object the water property and it behaves like water now and crashes the game. How do you fix?

The compiler makes the entity. But It will ask you to make one or something like that.

i tried to do a pool.when you look at the water .. you dont see the texture over it,gets random nodraw around it under the walls ...its just weird

@3kliksphilip I found out why. The texture has to start out as nodraw texture first. I forgot about that.

Theis999, if you make a map for Gmod, use the Half-Life 2 map preset. CS has items that will not work in Gmod.

filter "dev" in the texture browser, you'll see a few orange and gray textures and that's them.
I clicked Load pointfile, And the only red line points from the ground to below the map. I don't see a gap.

had the same problem, check for leaks using some feature, use the valve developer wiki to find out which.
