You're a really great teacher Rob. Thanks so much for helping us succeed. Great work! Beautiful weather in Halifax today! I look forward to every video!
Killer tutorial! Thank you for this! Love the duplicate, remove the background part, and increase the brightness. Just created a thumbnail with this style, and 10 minutes in total. I'll get it down to 5 with some practice.
Thank you! This was incredibly helpful. I'm in the learning phase of creating TH-cam content and have a Canva Pro account. I'd love it if you'd create more content on how to work with and edit YT videos in Canva. 🙏💖🙋♀️
I have never used Canva to edit my TH-cam videos... I only use Canva to make my thumbnails and any other images I need (like TH-cam home page banner, youtube avatar, etc). I do know Canva has recently added some "video editing" features so I will look into it. Thanks for watching!
Great tips! I use Affinity Photo for my thumbnails, and most of these techniques will work great there (or in Photoshop), as well (besides the Canva-specific things, of course). Bottom line is that good thumbnails are a method, not an application. Thank you!
I love that you are actually explaining that it's possible to blow up while doing this in that order! So many other teachers on the topic say to start with title and thumbnail but I like your way so much better! Makes way more sense to my brain!
Great tips. I have templates that I have made. I usually just change the color or the background and then just change the text a little bit and then upload everything done like in three or four minutes.
Started my channel finally. One video up and have a whopping 29 views and 4 subs (and those were from my IG - not organic 😂It was still fun as heck to do and I'll continue. I've watched a ton of videos and I'm really loving yours. I just finished the "Now or Never" vid you did on Oct. 9th - super-helpful. Excited to dive into more! ESPECIALLY this one. Thanks!
Thank you for this! I love using Canva but have struggled with how to create a thumbnail. I just started editing my videos with Filmora and couldn’t figure it out there. Thanks again and I look forward to more videos to help me build my channel 😊
@@RobtheMaritimer ( I've been working on one video for over four months. It will stink for certain, but I haven't captured what I wanted just yet. Maybe a deadline? Naa) Enjoy the weekend!
Thank you for this. I have had several successful TH-camrs critique my videos and the feedback has been your content is very solid but your thumbnails need some work. I am going to apply this template you laid out and see if I can increase some CTR.
Great tips Rob - I hadn't thought of the overlay text fighting with the text that might appear at the bottom so I'll bear that in mind next time! Now on to more important matters... where's Peanut?! 😆
I am glad I found your channel, as I have just decided to start uploading videos to TH-cam. I have used Canva to make my first (very amateurish) slideshow, but was finding it a bit confusing to my menopausal brain! I am sure I can figure it out - I used to use photo-editing software on a regular basis, but it gets harder as you get older! I am a bit baffled now about what equipment and software I need, but I am going to watch your videos and hopefully get to grips with it all.
I LOVE Canva, but not for videos... I only use it for graphics/images. I use it to make all my thumbnails as well as my channel's branding (youtube banner, youtube avatar). Good luck to you! :-)
Thanks for your inspiration, I uploaded my first video today. This is exactly the info I needed.... my first video thumbnail looks awful. I'm hoping anyone joins me on my journey.
When creating thumbnails I always keep in mind the lower right corner too. This is where the length of the video numbers will show, at least on mobile. I avoid this area for logos, text, important details
Rob, very helpful as always but how do you get a clean screen to take a screen shot? I have windows 11 and cannot figure out how to get rid of the media player controls to take a screen shot -- even if you click the pause the result is that the player controls appear again and take up 20% of the screen. A Hyde Chrome extension used to work years ago to hide the controls but no longer works.
I am not as familiar with Windows 11 as I am with a Mac... with a Mac you just press "CMD-ShFT-4" and that brings up cross hairs you can click, drag and drop (corner to corner) to selectively get a screenshot quickly. I believe with Windows 11 you can press "Windows+Shift+S" to bring up SNIP mode. You can then select a snip mode, select the area, and. screenshot will be taken and saved to your clipboard. You'd then open the app you want to paste it in and press CTRL-V to paste it. I got these instructions from search but have no experience with it myself. I hope it helps!
I find it a LOT easier. I was never able to fully grasp Photoshop... just found it too complex. But I also haven't tried it in several years since I've been using Canva :-)
This video was only about how to create your thumbnail from a video you've already created. For video editing, I did a live stream on how I edit my videos in Camtasia here: th-cam.com/users/livebnFvJnrs7-Q?si=--QwkDlFvQDl3yEZ I hope that helps :-)
@@ForexSource I made a video that goes over this in detail... my entire editing process including how I record my voice and edit it. You can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/R0X_ZD1nflI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-K_iQjb5u1kAyV8p
