That looks really yummy! I'd love to start incorporating raw food into my diet. I'm going to try to build up a series of recipes that I really like first to make it easier though. This will be on the list:) Thanks:)
This recipe sounds amazing!! Truly healthy. Quick question. What is an alternative to agave syrup? I've done some research and agave is not healthy like the "health foodists" have been led to believe. Due to the way it's highly processed, it's just not essential. Can you use raw honey? What else? Thanks, great video!
Stevia is a healthier choice over agave. Especially for diabetics or people in a pre-diabetic 'state of body'. Do check this out. Otherwise beautiful recipe and excellent presentation. Peace and much success. Thnks for sharing your knowledge and understanding.
@Blueyedblondeful You have a point but- think about all the Western cookies and cakes we are used to. They start with flour, sugar and butter, no? With raw foods, you simply don't do a lot of desserts because you don't have the same impulse towards needing sugar, and you can simply have fruit for dessert! What Ani is showing is a once a month or every two weeks treat. I use her Cashew Kream as a topping for fresh fruit (berries, apples and pears now.)
@pixy87wings you could have your grocery store order them if it's too inconvenient for you to order them online. some international distributors of mexican food buy them from vendors and package them in store. not sure if your small town is as small as the town as i grew up in(3,000 people), but mine had a mexican grocery.
@lovescartoons I know what raw food is, u do not have to explain the anatomy of it. My point is that Annie didn't say 'raw cocoa' she just said 'cocoa' powder which leaves one to believe she means generic cocoa powder, as usually when she refers to an item that is usually processed by cooking, she specifies it is 'raw' first. Like when she is referring to kemp noodles she mentions they are 'raw' or when she talks of the special soy sauce she uses, she mentions it is 'raw'.
@doctorwilhelm I'm don't have that much knowledge myself, but I know that you have to find Raw Agave Syrup. The stuff you'll find in a typical grocery store won't be the Raw kind.
I would like to make this but make a change. Instead of double layer I would make it into balls and omit the "Nutella" or make a single layer bite size. These recipes are not for everyday eating I'm quite sure since there are way to much fat but you do need healthy fat in your diet if you are on a raw food diet. Nuts, seeds and avocado are staples in a raw food diet along with fruits and veggies.
@lenny10marlin I agree with you about agave, but you can make sure that nuts and cacao are raw. It's not that hard, and this is hardly deception (except of the agave).
@lenny10marlin So you can just buy walnuts and shell them yourself, or do research into how your company makes them by calling them. Also, there are ways to heat things while still keeping the nutrients. I don't think Ani Phyo's really being deceitful to any of the viewers, though your point is duly noted.
I want that xD looks super nutty tho xD I know nothing of raw foods and what its all about other then watching a Wife Swap episode where these people were self sufficient raw diet people with two kids and ate raw meat as well as everything else raw and brushed their teeth with clay... i'm sure not everyone does that though... that was the first i had heard of a raw diet.
@lenny10marlin Yeah I said I agreed with you about agave.. Give me your evidence for the nuts. By the way, things heated very slowly *without killing the nutrients* are considered "raw".
@nesqualomimocho This is called raw gourmet. It can give you more fat per day than a standard American diet! Up to 70% or even more calories from fat. As you can see here it mimics the SAD diet in texture and taste. Sounds healthy? You only need 10% fat from calories maximum! Check out the 30 bananas a day website for a healthier raw alternative.
@lovescartoons And just one more thing. I had no problem learning raw cocoa existed. Why would i? I never disputed this, so why would i be mad at being 'wrong' as u put it. On the contrary - if I learn raw cocoa existed then I have learned something. I had never heard of it so i didn't know it existed - the reason for my original comment. Also, how could i possibly 'specify I meant generic' cocoa, if i genuinely didn't know any other alternative existed?
@lovescartoons YES, you were trying to pick a fight. You could have just said 'raw cocoa is available' but the suggestion of 'do your research' and the sarcastic tone of your comments prove that you were being perjorative, NOT helpful. You were on a high horse & it is you who is suffering from 'know it all' syndrome. But it backfired. I was ignorant of raw cocoa cos i have never come across it. Which is why I mentioned that Ani usually specifies an ingrediant is raw, if it is commmonly processed
@lovescartoons I can tell that not only are u one of those idle people that try to pick fights on youtube, but obviously u are someone who doesn't READ. In my last comment, i said that when Ani uses a product that is commonly known to be processed she specifically mentions 'this is raw' as non-raw foodies may not be aware u can get a raw version. I didnt say she should say 'raw' before every ingredient.
@foxgirl100 She feels the need to say 'raw' when referring to soy sauce, kemp noodles etc. So obviously, sometimes it is worth stating, as some ingredients are not obviously raw, and the average non-raw food eater may not have come across these specialised 'raw' versions (for example, of soy sauce, noodles & COCOA powder). If she thought it was 'OBVIOUS' that all her condiments etc. were raw she wouldn't bother to mention '"you can get raw soy sauce, noodles'" at all.
@MissPonderosa "a lot of people can't even afford to be vegan and look down upon others for not being vegan or think themselves 'better' (I know a few of these people) " ^^You, in which you refer to the critical vegans in a way that implies that there are 'a lot' of vegans like this.
@MissPonderosa You've literally missed my entire point. Not all vegans are "a lot of people" and most don't push their diet on others (though, vegans AND omnivores like that exist), so I'm not sure how much of what you said is relevant to my comment. No one's forcing you to be vegan/saying that everyone can afford it. Did you just come here to gripe? Who are you to say which reasons are legitimate? It's their life. Why are you even commenting on this if you have nothing but judgement to add?
@lovescartoons People like me are not worth your time is a classic example of 'high horse syndrome, especially when your ACTIONS SUGGEST OTHERWISE. Keep doing things that you yourself have stated are 'not worth your time'.
all humans are omnivores. its the ability to eat both meat and vegetation. just because someone is a vegan or vegetarian does not change the fact you are still an omnivore. just saying.
@lovescartoons My tone and subsequent responses? No dear, I was simply saying I never heard of raw cocoa & I pointed out that Ani didnt mention it raw. You on, the other hand replied to my first comment with a perjorative 'do some research'. This was uneccessary. You could have given the information without adding that snipe on at the end. Further more you have accused me of 'being on a high horse', 'suffering from know it all syndrome' etc.
@lovescartoons Haha! What a bizarre thing to say when you spontaneously took it upon yourself to answer to my original comment about cocoa not being raw. So obviously it was worth your energy, you thought you would try to pick a fight, now look at you.
I cringe when I see agave dumped into everything. That stuff is horrible and so far from being raw, it's crazy. I'm gonna have to write a book just so I can expose agave and particularly the effects in the body.
@MissPonderosa It's also not natural to eat as much meat as our society eats, to eat chemicals and processed foods, and to eat things that don't naturally grow in your area of living. But if people are happy with that diet, let them. If someone feels that Veganism makes them happiest and they can afford it, why shouldn't they do it? No one is slamming you for your diet, don't slam vegans. Take your judgement and ignorance elsewhere.
Thanks for the vid. Shame about the negativity. Yes, a lot of calories but it's not like you're going to eat the entire mix in one sitting. Duh. Just make less.
@foxgirl100 Not to mention when you said 'ppl like you are not worth my energy'. Your entire list of responses have been a catalogue of insults, perjorative and cantakerous comments and have exposed your confrontational and unpleasant personality. My original comment was simple & on a video, but u decided you would reply to it with a condescending message masquerading as an informative one. It's nice to know raw cocoa exists but you never had to reply in the tone you did & with unecessary malice
@lovescartoons If anything you need to grow up & think about how u want to be perceived, because you are the one who boldly stated 'People like you are not worth my time' , yet look at the amount of time you are spending on this subject. You are contradicting yourself.
@MissPonderosa The few do not represent the many, is my point. You're a hypocrite, seeing as YOU are obviously one of the few Non-Vegans that think they need to come in here and criticize other people's lifestyles. It seems that YOU look down on people who don't eat like you. Interesting. Do you really think your vague claims will change anyone's mind? Furthermore, do you really think that the majority of those that stick with Veganism are so uneducated about their lifestyle?
@MissPonderosa I've literally never met a vegan who didn't know the risks and account for them.Veganism is not for everyone. But it is for some.So back off and stop lecturing people who know more about their lifestyle than you do. Go eat your cheeseburger and leave us to our plants.
Ani, are you still making videos regularly? Perhaps it's just me, but I feel like I haven't received any video notifications from you, in a long time... Bummed. Hope you start adding more delicious ideas to your channel. Thanks!
Thank you for the video! I'm from Europe, and grew up on Nutella (we don't have peanut butter, we have Nutella - hehe). I too used to love this decedent spread, till my recent discovery about its nasty ingredient: Palm Oil. Turns out palm oil is in tons of chocolate & beauty products, and behind the horrendous orangutang slaughter & deforestation. The rain forrest (lungs of our planet) is getting smaller by the hour, so please ban palm oil. Check your products/ingredients before you buy! :)
I could listen to your voice forever
Ani Is the best I'm a fan. I feel so energetic on good foods
Yum! That looks terrific
Wow that looks awesome!
That looks really yummy! I'd love to start incorporating raw food into my diet. I'm going to try to build up a series of recipes that I really like first to make it easier though. This will be on the list:) Thanks:)
I really enjoyed this video. Do you have a DVD of your non-cooking? I don't want to read how to do it, I want you to show me how to do it.
I would love to taste this
Looks incredible :)
That looks so tasty but how many calories are in it?

@QueenCrimson333 well, there coconut crystals or nectar, by Coconut Secret, that's said to be raw and it's vegan too.
where do you get those nylon rings?
where can I get dates? I live in a small town and have searched high and low. does anyone know of an online place to order from?
What can substitute the coconut oil?
Stevia is a healthier choice over agave. Especially for diabetics or people in a pre-diabetic 'state of body'. Do check this out. Otherwise beautiful recipe and excellent presentation. Peace and much success. Thnks for sharing your knowledge and understanding.
I wondered if you were using soaked cashews? I can see the hazel nuts and filberts are dry.

what's an alternative to agave syrup? honey? maple syrup? I do not want to use agave syrup.
Awsome. :)

@MissPonderosa I'd also be happy to message you the studies I am referencing as TH-cam doesn't allow links in it's comments.

that was the first i had heard of a raw diet.
Agreed, looks crazy expensive. And woe is the world where agave is the new honey....*bleah*
@lenny10marlin Yeah I said I agreed with you about agave.. Give me your evidence for the nuts. By the way, things heated very slowly *without killing the nutrients* are considered "raw".

cocoa powder is not raw. they roast the cocoa beans before they grind them.

Stevia is better, but I found it leaves a horrible aftertaste (for me), especially when used in cake, chocolate, and larger recipes. :/
looks expensive!
@lovescartoons People like me are not worth your time is a classic example of 'high horse syndrome, especially when your ACTIONS SUGGEST OTHERWISE. Keep doing things that you yourself have stated are 'not worth your time'.
RAWSOM
do you live to eat or eat to live. people waste their lives away by caring about the wrong things. this life confuses me.
all humans are omnivores. its the ability to eat both meat and vegetation. just because someone is a vegan or vegetarian does not change the fact you are still an omnivore. just saying.
lol i know right haha

and then there is the non-educated person down below saying "humans are omnivores"By choice only, only by choice.
OMG THAT ISH LOOKS SO NASTY! BUT HEY THATS MY OPINION!

Gee, Ani, you think there is enough fat in this recipe, maybe we throw in a tub of Earth Balance or something... not fat enough...\Yikes!
@MissPonderosa I've literally never met a vegan who didn't know the risks and account for them.Veganism is not for everyone. But it is for some.So back off and stop lecturing people who know more about their lifestyle than you do. Go eat your cheeseburger and leave us to our plants.
