Ive heard that a water and dish soap solution overnight will clear out a cateletic converter of the carbon build up. Inside a converter is a honeycomb shaped piece of alloy material with all of the honeycomb channels running straight in line with the pipe. Very small channels can clogg and restrict exhaust flow. Your burned gasoline is water soluable and soaking overnight will loosen debris from honeycomb most of the time .
As far as "letting all that pollution back onto the atmosphere....what is coming out of exhaust will settle down into the earth's layers of soil. Fact: 1 gallon of gasoline burned produces approximately 100 pounds of particulate carbon! That's super small pieces your eyes can not see. Not just cars but every open flame you see burning wood, fuels ectera produces this fine particulate. Don't just blame your car.
I’m up there Durango 17 v6 250k the cat was clogged up.decided to keep the cat and just take ALL the shi inside out of it(honeycomb) (without touching the 02 sensor) and just weld it back together. Engine can finally breath.the check engine light OFF!saved me $1500 for cat replacement to 250…someone can definitely do it for less then that..(code was p2098) bank 2 lean I tried all additive till i realized it was a temporary fix so does higher octane help for engine knock

I’ve heard it is recommended every other oil change. Do an air and fuel clean out. I do it with seafoam.
