When the promos for Elena of Avalor came out, I legitimately thought this was going to be the theme song. And now, even 7 years later, I STILL think this should've been the theme song!
Its cause I think the song is in the sofia the first series, which would make it weird to have a sofia the first song as a other theme song for a difrent show

This is exactly an episode from both STF & EOA and the animation is different from both shows so I guess Craig Gerber wanted to change the animation up a little for the movie or maybe it was easier for them to make it this way than with the original animation since it is a movie that last more time than both of the shows. Totally agree that Elena needs to jump to the big screen and become part of the Disney Princesses line.

lps naturestar this isn’t a flashback to 40 years ago I can’t really explain it well but Elena was trapped in Sofia’s amulet prior to the start of both Elena of Avalor and Sofia the first for 40 years I think it’s even explained in the very first episode of Elena of Avalor by Elena herself and this episode basically shows how Elena got her kingdom and family back with the help of Sofia XD sorry if this sounds wrong I haven’t watched both shows in a while XD
Before Sofia even received the amulet, Elena had been stuck in it for 40 years before. Esteban aged with the 40 years, Mateo was the grandson of Alcazar so it makes sense for him to not be that old, Elena’s grandfather, sister & grandmother were stuck in the enchanted painting and it was stated they didn’t age at all during the time they were in there. Sofia is not part of those 40 years really. She was born later of course.
this movie is overplayed where i live (by my 6 yr old nephew go figure) but i can appreciate a song with such a good melody mixed in with the beautiful singing voice of Aimee Carrero
