My little kids loves this but mostly my daughter does. Thank you, Disney Junior. We didn't have this back in my day when I growing up. Thanks to this kids show. This entertained them a lot and never want to miss it including the new episode's.
I'm pretty sure she could've been crowned queen right away and the show would've remained the same. Disney just wanted to keep her a princess because that title sounded better to little girls.
As much as I love this song, her grandfather is aware that she is the royal -- she can just go "Give me my crown or I chop off your head" and badda bing, she's Queen.
As far as we're aware, the King and Queen can do whatever they want -- so if Elena really DOES want to tell them who's in charge, she can punish them with the threat of beheading. If, say for example, when she DOES become of age and legally becomes Queen, they turn around and say "actually, no, still not mature enough" she can chop off their head and kill them to silence them.

They made it a show because sofia the first was super popular and they wanted to make another show like this. Also, think about it: Do you really want a two hours movie or a show with two or more seasons that have around 25 episodes, each 20 minutes long? That's more than 8 hours per season. I prefer it as a tv show.
