- Pioneer PLX-CRSS12 Full Review
This game-changing deck is the world’s first to offer DVS control of digital music via DJ software as well as analog playback of vinyl records, helping artists take their performances to the next level.
Never worry about needle skipping again when you use the PLX-CRSS12 in DVS mode with Serato DJ Pro or rekordbox. The tone-arm-free playback means artists can scratch a real analog record as vigorously as they like without fear of missing a beat. And when they want to play a record the traditional way, they can simply switch the deck to Analog mode and use the tone arm as normal.
However artists like the decks to feel, the PLX-CRSS12 adapts to suit their style. By adjusting the rotation dial on the included MAGVEL CLAMP, artists can change how “heavy” or “light” the record feels. Artists can also adjust the turntable’s torque level in the utility settings, and there are 3 stopping speeds to choose from.
At first glance, artists will see how the PLX-CRSS12 has been designed for fluid scratching and intuitive performances. And when they look closer, they’ll notice new features that enable a greater level of control and creativity. The battle-style layout leaves plenty of room for scratching and there are 4 MIDI-mappable Performance Pads too. Artists can also keep an eye on crucial information via the OLED display.
As well as the exciting features artists can see, the PLX-CRSS12 includes a host of new additions which are hidden. Various components have been upgraded from the highly respected PLX-1000 professional turntable to create the best-ever analog sound from a Pioneer DJ deck.

Rane Twelve guy here.... Three things that make me interested in these -
1. Internal mode is once again available which is an upgrade to me over the twelves. If you've ever had girls lean over your turntables to request a track you understand why this is important lol. I also like to use my tables as a spot to set things like my wedding information during important dances. It's really nice to just turn them off.
2. The adjustable magnet is HUGE! Seems like every gig my tables change how they feel based on the humidity of the room. Sometimes I have to put some paper under the spindle in order to make them feel right. It would be so nice to turn a knob.
3. I hate that the twelves stop playing at the end of a song. Sounds like a small thing but I like to use it as a silent cue so I'll jump to the end and use a cue point to drop in.
Three things that make me not want to get them -
1. I wish the tone arm was detachable. I'm not going to use it 99% of the time and it's something that can break when on the road. It also can get in the way of the screen and the pitch slider.
2. Extra connections to hook up. With Rane Twelves you only have a USB to connect to the mixer and now you have RCAs as well. Not a massive deal but it is nice to only have to connect a USB.
3. The price. I don't see this as enough of an upgrade for me to make the jump. $2800 is a lot to spend to do what I am already doing. These will be great in clubs though since everyone will be able to use them no matter what kind of DJ you are.
Good review. I do miss having internal mode as well.
Rane Twelves are trash bro lol
Not only a fun, but also great in depth review of this very dope controller/turntable. Great job Nick!.
Hybrid Turntable
Your review was fire 🔥 nick !! I could already see you using these on your next gig.
I’ve been waiting for something like this from Pioneer!! Well done man, great review as always.
Wow, I’m so glad I held off on buying the PLX 1000s! Definitely want to grab these!
Salute to you and your video production team.. you have some of the best intro ideas ever..
Nick i do love the effort you put this into these info videos , well done . This Turntable is fire ,
Okay, I have to admit that intro was very creative and funny. Great intro, great review keep up the good work bro.
Nick putting in the work. Great video. Love the skit in the beginning.
It’s so funny to me that even with all of the dvs related bells and whistles, I am most excited for the maglev clamp!!! Thank you for the great review!
Thank you Genie! Great video Nick, ordering some now
Mine are on the way. I am so glad I got them before they start going on back order. The greatest invention to date.
Just got mine and Im happy with them
Awesome video Nick! Absolutely loved the funny skit in the beginning but the actual review was so real and technical. I have never used Vinyl before and have always fantasized about it . This gives me so much hope and is surely jazzing me up for the future of DJing! Thanks for the awesome inspiration 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
Great entertaining video, informative, I'm Buying 2 in Sept as well. Can't wait.
Wow they really change the game on this one, and the price is crazy, yeah is worth it after I heard the price. Great review. Keep up the great work.
When i saw these i thought you fit the profile for these in your set up , rock the house Nick
Nick !! It’s DJ Trademark from Long Island. Another Great video, and great content! These seem cool! A lot of my buddies are getting these so they can keep the technics safe at home. Very similar to a Rane 12 but with a tone arm. I think pioneer will remove the tone arm in later models. I used technics all my life but switched to CDJs 10 years ago, i wasn’t sold on the Rane 12s but I’m interested to see the future of these.
Great video and looking forward to this one
Damn your videos become better and better 👌🏻
Amazing video my friend. I'm saving up now... I... must... have... these.
Awesome Video Nick!
Hi !! I Like the intro bro 😂😂😂 I order a pair of my first turntable I used CDJs but definitely going to try this one ☝️
As much as people think this new Pioneer hybrid turntable is so great, the Reloop RP-8000 MK2 hybrid came out 4 years ago and still is the number one Hybrid turntable.
2 of reloops rp8000 mk2 + phase = 1600 $
I do love Reloop
I agree I have the Rp-8000MK2 with the S11 and it does almost the same thing minus the clamp. I use it with phase. This New Pioneer turntable is dope for mobile djs but if clubs aren’t going to have these it’s kinda pointless for me.
They're cool, but u still have to use Phase and charge those things all the time if u dont want to use or have needles. Also, the location of the cue buttons are horrible. My homie had a pair, and I would accidentally push the buttons when I would blend the music
PHASE lasts 10 hours i charge them every 3 gigs while sleeping, never had an issue. I tried the crss12s and i like them but not 1200 a pop love them @@djxsquizit
i recently went to Klangfarbe and tried this deck on for size. Its amazing and every bit as good as the hype suggests.I am head over heels in love with this machine.
Bought a pair last month. I love them.
Love the review. You are talented guy 😂🎉👍🏽
Great intro Nick! You just got Pioneer to go from HATING YOU to LOVING YOU:)
That Virtual DJ shot was outta left field and hilarious! almost spit my coffee out lol
Nick, great review man. One thing that would be good to redo is to test the needle skip using real vinyl. When you’re using DVS with the needles, Serato automatically prevents skipping, so your beat juggling test should have used real vinyl. If the needle skips, Serato knows and it just keeps playing at the same point, so it sounds like it has not skipped. The only exception is if you’re really going crazy and the needle starts bouncing, if there is no signal at all the audio drops out.
That intro had me crying , right up there with pulling the grey goose and vacuum out of the dj bag.
thank you Nick for USING the deck not just rambling on about specs.
gotta say, skits in yt videos have become so passe, but the first 3 minutes of this had me gripped 😆 well done
Great review....gonna check it out.
I love this Nick you truly are soooo funny.Much love and respect from South Africa.
Great intro & review!
Well done and great funny intro!
Incredible video brother!
Outstanding Video 🎉
Well now. I watched 10 videos on this turntable today and this is one of them.
Great Mr. Spinelli
Awesome video Nick. I must say though the Reloop RP 8k mkii is a very close second. The only exception is this reloop set requires Phase for armless play. Looks like Pioneer coped that side power switch and the LED display of the key from Reloop. Regardless this turntable is the best on the market at this time. I’m definitely getting a pair. Great work Nick.
Awesome video!!
Thanks for this amazing vid!!! Not sure if I missed this... Are u able to trigger your dj drops with the pads on the turntable when playing analog vinyl?
I'm a Rekordbox user and never had avaible any piece of hardware good for scratching. Lots of wires and always Serato adjusted for Rekordbox. I've tryed to adapt with Serato for 1 year but couldn't. So that's for me, the best turntable ever done, best the money can buy.
this review is amazing. and i'm only 8 minutes in. you've got a new sub!
By the way, any insight on audio routing for these bad boys using an old analog mixer? Would you recommend the reloop flux to connect it all? It's the one that seems to fit from what I've seen.
Man said Virtual DJ sucks as part of summoning the ting 🤣 out of all the reviews I have seen so far Nick has smashed it with that skit.
Pioneer has done taken over the game. They recently bought Serato and now they come out with this killer turntable. Take my money! Game is almost over! Wow!
@NickSpinelli yoooo whats up thanks for the Vid! Ayeee just wondering how mixing with these are, are they exact? or . decimals off when mixing? How is the pitch adjust, can you move fine adjustments like the tech 1200s? The RP8000's were trash tbh when it came to the pitch adjust..
Did they fix the tonearm bearing wobble issues all the Super OEM turntables have? There is a small play if you pull/push on the tonearm.
Nice review!!
Can’t wait to Demo them at NAMM 😂
Good video! Does this use USB to control Serato or RCA connection? Also can this use USB to send vinyl audio to a computer for recording?
little things ...does it come with the needle ? and is the brake switch accurate like other turntables when pressing stop?
Great Video
Love the video.
What an innovation. What mixer will have stunning analog vinyl pre-amps and supporting dvs? Secondly can you on the fly mix between dvs and a vinyl record?
First off, the beginning of this was hilarious.
Second off, Pioneer is absolutely dominating. Hope other companies can keep up the competition
Question is.... will it still be running as well in 30+ years time like a Technics turntable??
What what was your settings on the counter weight nick ?
Nice turntable... Gemini CDT-05... just in 2006 or something like that. :D ..ahh i forgot the numark x2. that was nice. Nive video man.
Hey Nick what is a good website to purchase short edit songs?
I'm an old School techniques 1200 Dj...but I might have to get these.
No Cap...! Cuz! ....Damn man you made my day this video! fucking entertaining as all get out!
Nick, because of your review I had ordered a pair of the PLX-CRSS12 and they just came in today. Have your gotten yours yet? Thanks for the review it was off the hook.
Thank you Nick for the video. Should I sell my 4 Technics SL1200 MK2 and buy these Pioneer DJ PLX-CRSS12 ?
I just want to know if it will work with VDJ as far as the DVS
Hi Nick, I'm a wedding DJ like you and I want to start using turntables at my wedding house but I'm undecided which model to buy I hope you can help me... I'm between the rane twelve mkii or the Pioneer plx 1000 obviously with their Time code and I see that you work that way, could you tell me why you work like that, being able to use the rane or because which one do you recommend I go to? Thank you
Best video intro ever
What is your take on Algorithm Djay on an iPhone with DVS?
Good intro bro
do they fit in a standard flight case?
How do you organize records for weddings? Like legit records nor serato crates
A year ago you made a video Plx 1100 coming soon!!? Not the 1100 but this turntable is pretty dope. I'd grab a couple once I get more feedback in real world use.
I'm sold
Only for battle style position.. not a regular house dj setup possible? The screen under the arm. And cue s on the up left side.
What is this "So Clutch" Super Clutch" Are these new sayings I missed out on again?
This has to be your best Video Review to date!
Definitely going to sell my MK5 to get these when available in Canada !
What are those speakers in the background?
where did you get those pizza control vinyls?
So, it's safe to say that I can toss phase into the storage bin?
Technics turntables' On/Off button design is still the bomb.
Do the Start/Stop, Motor Off, 33, 45, Step Pitch, Application, Deck, Reset buttons are midi mappable ?
Yup.
When using Digital Mode, can you use any mixer such a rotary, 05 Pro or a DJM 800 or does it have to be a Serato mixer such as an S11?
Has to be digital DVS ready. If not,you need an audio interface.
You’re a fool Nick 🤣
Damn these are 🔥 honestly this is what the PLX 1000 should’ve been. Much cheaper price tag but always thought the 1000s were regressive in that they’re heavier and bulkier than 1200s, with no light up pitch slider like the m5g. Loving what Pioneer has been doing lately.
RIP Rane😢
Dude I had that same genie lamp toy when I was a kid, did you buy that at Disneyland in the early 90s?
what buffer settings you using in serato to be able to use stems my man? I have a good spec laptop but I can't seem to get 1ms and not see an amber light pop up on screen. I'm using windows and it isn't just a slider I have 3 settings - latency, number of buffers and sample size would love any input please. ty
It’s allll about the M2 Mac processors. They blow away intel
🔥🔥🔥 Can you vinyl one side and DVS the other side at the same time?
I believe im getting me a pair it was up in the air buying the Rev 7 or Technics 1200 MK7. WOW!
Stay away from the new Chinese made Technics
Want these 🔥🔥🔥
Love my PLX1000s...maybe time to upgrade. Damn it :-(
Big up @NickSpinelli for the truth! Can't wait to get my hands on these
@NickSpinelli What about cue drift? Can you test it to see how much and if there is? Phase had the cue drift issue when it started and still kinda does.
Because it uses an actual Serato Noisemap, it will not drift at all. Both Serato and rekordbox timecode signals have rotational data.
@@priyonjoni thank you for clarifying that Joni. 🙏
Great review! But you will have to get some white ones!?
can you buy the clamps alone thou
Game Changer🔥🔥💯💯💯
I haven't been this jealous of a turntable since the Stanton STR8-150
What in the black magic is that slip mat settings?!?!
You had me at the Jeany 😂
🤣so much fun man 🤣Has your genie also included a reverse mode?
Dope😮
Best intro ever
I’ll take 2. Thanks.
