    The RollerFly pad sliders infinitely multiply the fun factor for inline hockey goalies, and take their skills game to a whole new level. But the straps are ugly and obtrusive. This video shows you how to reliably attach the sliders using only Velcro tape.

    This adhesive hook and loop (Velcro) tape looks like it might be better than what I bought but I haven’t tried it:

    That’s how I attached the rollerflies to my Warrior G3’s, I also put the fuzzy part down on the inside toe area to reduce wear and tear and get better slides for those toe saves. Great video Morgan/Chris 🤘

      Awesome! I hope you like it as much as I do. True story: With the sliders on there your pads are just a but wider. I made a save on Friday with just the edge of the knee slider hahaha. Slider went flying but the puck stayed out. Slapped the slider back on and kept playing.

    Thanks for the video man. I am just starting out playing inline hockey and hockey in general for the first time ever and decided to play goalie. I absolutely love it and love the position. Unfortunately our rink is outdoors and its just concrete so it gets super warm. I bought the asphalt wheels 59" and they have made balancing in the crease so much easier. I also decided to buy myself new pads since my handmedowns were to small for me. I went for the affordable but super awesome Bauer GSX goalie pads. Just got them in today and i love the feel of them. My rollerflys will be in friday as well as my velcro and metal balls. Just wanted to say i love your videos and they have helped me a ton. Cheers sir

      Thanks Jack. It's really pretty easy to figure out but I thought it might be helpful for people to know that it really sticks well to the pads allowing all the benefits without the ugly straps. I wasn't sure it would hold up until I tried it.

    Ok, first, that Miller Lite shirt is amazing!! Nice matching set with your cold ones!! Great video, tho I don't think I could ever play roller as a goalie... I sweat so much on ice, I'd be a piece of beef jerky after one period 🤣😂🤣😂

    • @iceicegoalie-OG
      @iceicegoalie-OG  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome PJ! You're gonna love the Rollerflys. If you're coming from ice you'll notice that your butterfly pushes aren't as easy. The secret is to really plant your push foot. I found that the angle makes a big difference. You need more of a 90 degree push than a 45 degree push to get the best slide. Good luck in your season!

    • @iceicegoalie-OG
      @iceicegoalie-OG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen goalies have success with the rollerflys on asphalt though I haven't tried it seriously. The metal balls will definitely help. I've never used these myself but here's a link to an asphalt specific wheel that comes in 59mm (most common goalie size).
      www.inlinewarehouse.com/Labeda_Gripper_Asphalt_Outdoor/descpage-LGA4.html
      Once you get some hours in with these things, you will never want to play without them. Every goalie I've talked to that's stuck with em through the learning phase, swears by em.

    Really awesome idea! Do rollerflys work on asphalt?

    • @iceicegoalie-OG
      @iceicegoalie-OG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They totally do - but 2 things: You need to get the steel balls instead of the standard plastic ones. On asphalt the plastic ones will scrape flat and not spin very long. Rollerfly sells them. You should also check with your asphalt rink to make sure they will let you use them. The metal balls can scratch the rink paint.

    Its been a while since you posted this, how is the velcro and rollerflies holding up? I recently purchased some and am having issues with the bottom strap ripping. I’m thinking about using your setup

    • @iceicegoalie-OG
      @iceicegoalie-OG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeremy. The Rollerflys themselves are holding up great. They came with extra balls and I've had to replace some of the lower ones as they flattened out, but still have tons of extra. The Industrial strength Velcro is totally the way to go if you ask me. I haven't had to make any adjustments and they still stick perfectly. Every once in a while a shot will knock a knee slider off, but you just slap it back on and you're good to go.

    What’s best wheels to use for pushes without slipping ?
    My tiles I got my wheels have no grip I have to use my wall and heavy foot locker to use for pushing

    • @iceicegoalie-OG
      @iceicegoalie-OG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Patriot goalie wheels work well on the plastic tile rinks.
      www.purehockey.com/product/labeda-patriot-indoor-inline-hockey-goalie-wheels/itm/28198-2/?gclid=CjwKCAjwjuqDBhAGEiwAdX2cj_vaCid8FZDU5SnjziOtpUk76bB2NZHncHtpXs3pGJn5EWj0QrWm2xoC5Y8QAvD_BwE
      Most goalie skates use the 59mm wheels like these and these are cheap but last long. They are good for heavier goalies too.
      To slide well you need to bring that push foot up and in so you can really plant it, almost straight down, before pushing away. Much more exaggerated than an ice push.

    • @vezina808
      @vezina808 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@iceicegoalie-OG yes it holds up pretty well. It’ll stays put. I drill holes on the Rollerfly where it needs to be then I screw in a long screw. I also use a countersink drill bit so that the head of screw won’t be exposed on the surface. I cut a slit on the side of the pads then insert a small square piece of plastic where the screws goes through. Rollerfly lays flush along the inside of the pads. Pads are pretty old and used strictly for inline hockey.

  • @tipple58

    Ingenious. The flaw, though, is needing two sets of pads: one for ice, one for inline. A serious cost implication. But, as I say, ingenious!

    • @iceicegoalie-OG
      @iceicegoalie-OG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a big flaw for sure. Goalie gear is pricey to say the least. But I don't buy it all at once. Over years you buy something new here and there and save the old stuff. Instead of replacing old pads, I made the white pair into roller pads when I got a new ice set. Then a couple years later the white pair was pretty beat and the black pair was on clearance so I scooped 'em up. The only benefit of getting old is that you have time to acquire goalie gear!
