Received my 2 days after Ordering. First Time Installer here... Installed in around 1h30 for both pads. This was a great experience and i got a Ball Hockey game right after, was sliding around easily. Bought the Speed Kit. Wish that we could buy a better version of the toe Sliders instead of the small ones... But 9.5/10.
This seems fantastic. I've wanted to do something like this for almost two decades now and this looks like a really viable solution. I'm curious, however, how well they hold up. What is the lifetime of the sliders before you'd need to replace them. I'm talking use on blacktop. I have a low-end pair of Bauer pads (I believe there were around $300-ish - I could never afford super fancy stuff like the nice gear you guys have) and when I got them I immediately went to town on the knee drops and insides of the pads with layer after layer of white duct tape so that I wouldn't completely tear up the pads. Honestly, if someone designed a set of pads specifically for off-ice use that had easily replaceable slide/friction areas I'd probably bite the bullet and splurge on a sick new set of pillows. That would be the dream. Anyway, if you happen to read this comment, great work. The sliders seem amazing and, after checking out your site, you make some really nice looking gear. I'm in awe.
Just installed these. The first pad took time but the instructions in this video and paper (included in the bag) were on point. I haven't tried them out yet but will this weekend. The one thing i will say is the width of the piece that looks like a kidney bean (lower boot leg piece) didn't fit my pads. The width was to big for my pads so i had to use one of the smaller (2 hump) pieces instead. I doubt this will be an issue.
So after a few uses, i must say they are pretty good. The sliders stay in place and slide pretty well on concrete. Again, don't expect it to be like on ice...but so much better than have leather directly on concrete, that sh*t don't move! I will continue to give updates as more usage happens, but so far so good.
@@Cepted Thanks for the reminder. So, yes, I have been using them for over a year, twice a week on both cement and ball hockey tiles. They are as great as they were since being installed. Obviously there is some tiny wear on the "bumps" that make contact with the surface, but zero issues with staying in place. Once they were fastened/screwed in...you are set. I didn't however use the toe slider clips, i didn't feel the need. I hightly recommend them and for any future pads i will use for roller/dek/ball hockey, i'll be sure to pick some up. @@3521Jason we don't use any drill bits we use a screw driver bit in a drill if that is what your asking the one is a Robertson bit size green and the other one for the toe sliders is a Medium Philips head bit hope that helps
I never would do that to my pads They sell strap on kit that you just steal to pad so you can slide on roller rink or concrete They got plastic balls that give you slide in doors Outside has ball bearings for outside
Ball hockey is getting bigger and bigger. Goalies who do this (like me) either have another pair of pads for ice only or they simply don't play on ice at all. Rollerflies are just bad. They are held in place with a strap only so they keep moving around and look like crap because you have a strap going around your pad. Also, many leagues have banned them because the small ball bearings damage the surface. If you're a committed ball hockey goalie and you want to elevate your game, make the investment and have sliders permanently installed. Believe me, it's worth it. Nice pads look amazing with quality sliders installed. They will last years.
This ruins your pads! Installed it on a great set of Reeboks, and these tear out of the leather or other pad materials. You should NEVER have to cut your pads to install plastic sliders. Once these start to rip out, you are done. I installed a set that have velcro on them, and you can remove them when you aren’t permitted to play with sliders. Also, the velcro is completely removable and replaceable.
That first cut....... like open heart surgery. No turning back now

Guys from expereince, use velcro, do not cut your pads. If you don't like the slider or its position you have a rest option.

Can these sliders be affixed to the pads with velcro? I like the idea of the being permanently screwed in, but I'm worried about making a mistake
I’ve done it, no way I’ll cut my Axis 2 open like that 😂 Works really well and I haven’t had any issues with Velcro tape
