    The happy hoodie changed the game for me and my dog. She hated the blowdryer but as soon as I started using the happy hoodie, she is much calmer and lets me do anything without much complaint.

      Our German Shepard tends to calm down and sit still for drying with the hoodie on. I don't know if it is that it blocks noise, or something about the compression, but it makes a definite difference for our dog.

      I am convinced, but I cannot find anyone who wants to test/confirm this, that the dryer makes an entirely different 'sound' to the animals. Like, maybe the thing that was designed for humans to 'hear' (the loud dryer) puts the sound in the areas that we don't find as "unpleasant" (the lower frequencies) but for the animals that can hear those high pitched whistles/whines it might sound like a cop-whistle being blown non-stop. But I don't know, that is just a theory I have on why it can work so dramatically.

      I have a cat named Luna and of all the cats I've ever known she is by far the most docile, sweet, compassionate, cuddlebug. She's hissed once. ONCE. She was introduced to my mum's cat, they quickly became sisters even though mum's cat didn't get the memo. She doesn't growl, bite, scratch, or get moody. She's isn't afraid of anyone, she loves every person she meets. Even bathing her is a delight. She was a 6 month old stray who walked in off the mean streets of London and into my heart. I'm a firm believer that all Lunae are a gift from the mellow moon goddess herself.

      Actually a lot of working dog breeds originally had their tails clipped for good reasons. Most working breeds originally herded cattle and long tails were more likely to get stomped on or broken causing severe pain. The only treatment back then was amputating the injured tail and over time the practice of docking their tails became a preventative measure. Another working breed the Australian Shepard was breed to be tailless for this very reason. While I do agree that docking the tails of pet dogs is unreasonable I'm not against it for dogs that are still used as actual working dogs.

    • @beclosbird8398
      @beclosbird8398 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@dragonlady3852 I have said it before, and I will say it again; docking the tail of a puppy is kinda like amputating the little toe of your child. I mean yeah, you're making sure they will never have the misfortune of stubbing that toe and potentially break it, which fucking sucks. But they will also probably have problems with balance, not to speak of the torture of being treated different or made fun of by other children. I think it is very unreasonable. Just "because it's been done in the past" is not a very good excuse to keep doing it.
      Also, australian shepherds ARE born with tails. In the US those tails are often docked. Saying "the Australian Shepard was bred to be tailless" sounds just like those people saying "dobermans are born with pointed ears". It's simply not true. And in the majority of developed countries on earth it is illegal, thank god.

      Dug my first dog's grave at 12 years old in the backyard. Dad helped me and took the day off from school. We built a large cross and hammered it in as well. At 30 I had a dog pass and had him cremated at Pet Smart, all behind closed doors. Burying my dog myself felt different. More respectful in a primal sort of way. Like humans have done for thousands of years.

      A friend of mine dug a grave for her bird underneath her lilac bush, so whenever it was in bloom she thought of her little bird. She had to dig pretty deep as to avoid stray cats getting to it, but she did say it was very healing and therapeutic to do so.

      kennel clubs criterias.... some breeds need to have their ears or tails docked to participate in competitions ... as far as I understand .and breeder will refuse to not crop the ears and dock the tails even if you ask a completely natural puppy (I know I asked them) their answer was that is could ruin their reputation as breeder and it's impossible to find a doberman with the tails or ears intact... they will even contest the law that would make it illegal to practice those procedures in canada and send those dogs in the US where it's legal... ( I think the law passed not too long ago but was cancelled after some time ) sad... most believe if their tails isnt docked it will lead to injuries of the tails... (but then in europe it's illegal to dock or crop and most dogs don't have any issues at all and are completely healthy) cropping the ears in a completely aesthetic procedure and it take months to heal so the puppy need to wear the cone of shame and something so their ears stand up and give them a ferocious look ... so basiquelly the dog suffer only for the owner pleasure for a completely useless procedure...... and kennel clubs don't help.... I just think people who want aesthetic surgeries on their animals are so messed up ... and are superficial people (who might love their animals but more as a accessory to look cool than a real friend or compagnons .. I found those people usually don't really see them as their equals which is a shame since the dog give unconditional love ... I would do anything for an animal that appreciate me for who I am , no matter what .

    I found a dog in the road about a year ago when I was doing grocery delivery , who looks just like this dog! He was a sweetie and jumped RIGHT in my car when I pulled over! He was about 6 months and clearly someone's pup! I did everything I could for him, even took him home and got him food and water until the rescue opened up. Once I got him there, we found out he was microchipped so I couldn't keep him. I was disappointed because I had spent most of my morning with him, and kind of got attached lol. I'm glad he ended up being ok though and getting home regardless 🙌🏿

    The longest living dog we owned and the one who listened to me (a little bratty 9yr old) was our Rottie. I couldn't stand him when we first got him cuz he was so protective of me and wouldn't let me go places, and as a pup chewed all my ish lol. But when my parents split and we had to give him to my grandparents, I understood what an amazing dog he was. He lived until 17, only had to be put down due to cancer. And the last 5 years of his life, he was fed better and hotter meals than any of us got from my grandma 🤣🤣. He opened her heart to love animals. She hated dogs before him. She got him and was a different person.

    My best mate had a rottie that pretty much grew up with my lab. My Christie and his Boof were inseparable. I miss them so much Christie was five years older and the fourth child my parents never had and Boof was her little helper with everything. I remember the day he saved my darling Christie from an attack from a blue heeler and Doberman while down fishing with our families. Let's just say Boof who was the size of a miniature horse loved my mum and Christie so much that he ended up with a torn side, ear, lacerated leg and broken tail. No amount of money can even be argued with to save his life. That dog went on to live his days fully recovered and reverred for his loyalty respect and just pure heart. He passed of old age he was the best boy and a hole is still in my heart I can't fill
