KX's are awesome and, like you said, they are lesser known than k1000's so you can often times pick them up for less than a k1000.

True story! However, do you have any idea from what replace the pentaprism in kx? I have one kx with a ruined coating in the center. Is it possible to replace it with a prism from k1000/km (of course without aperture viewing)?
Camera was out of field of view for video, repair techs hands covering everything. Hard to see.
