      @@BaronVonBielski but I’m pretty sure the coaching will play to the strengths of they’re roster instead of just running what they ran over and over no matter who they had and even after failing and being ranked almost last every season they were coaching the bears. They will play to fields strengths and the lines strengths this season and give him extra protection in situations they need it and if the line can’t block at all they will run the ball and play action and roll out off of that to protect the quarterback. The way Fields and Trubisky were treated by that coaching staff is absolutely disgusting. If Nagy had his way, he would've ruined the career of two QBs who were promising coming out of the draft, both seen as having insane ceilings and room to grow, simply because he couldn't accept he, as coach, wasn't the star of his team. If his offense didn't work, he blamed it on others and forced THEM to adjust. Mitch probably could've been a FANTASTIC passer-scrambler type QB, if only he had a coach like how Russell Wilson and Josh Allen did. Let's just hope this new staff will ensure Fields has the career he deserves.

      @@electric8668 In his worse season, Trubisky had a better completion percentage than Fields, with a far worse receiving core and zero run game to lean on. His recievers led the league in drops in both of his first two years. If you're gonna point out his actual issues, which every QB has, at least know what you're saying before throwing out the first thing you can think of.

      @danielhavoc889 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@electric8668 drops are only counted for "catchable passes". Again, stop trying to continuously throw whatever you can think of out there and hope it sticks, if you don't know what you're talking about, just accept when other people know more than you about a subject instead of trying to desperately justify your incorrect statement. There are plenty of genuine problems that Trubisky had with his play, though it's largely on coaching that he didn't improve as much as he could've, which is the exact same story for Fields right now. Stop trying to act like for some reason anything here has changed. If the coaching is bad, Fields will fail, just like, if not worse than Trubisky. In fact, in a better offense than Trubisky had, along with an overall better team (special teams and defense included) than Trubisky played under his rookie year, Fields threw for the same amount of TDs, less yards, and more INTs, with a lower completion percentage. Fields had extreme talent in Robinson, Graham, Mooney, Grant, Kmet, and Monty as viable receiving options. Trubisky had Josh Bellamy and Kendall Wright, one of which retired that year, and the other who retired the year after. Only one of the top 4 recievers on that team played more than 2 years after that year, and none of them started for any other team, nor are still in the league. Trubisky and Fields situations are not comparable other than the fact that coaching is what will decide if they succeed or fail. Not some innate talent disparity between the two of them that people like you seem to want to believe in.

I never knew what to think about fields after his rookie season bc the bias in me wanted to say it was all on the bears but my unbiased side saw some concerns that I couldn’t get past. As long as his confidence didn’t get shaken too much and the coaches play to his strengths I feel as if he can develop into a good qb in the nfl. He has all the physical tools that you can’t teach so everything else just needs to be coached up which is the “easier” part. (Also having a play caller that doesn’t just pull shit out of his ass helps)

    It’s not impossible to evaluate Fields. Anybody with a shred of sports IQ know that he has the skill set to be an franchise QB it’s just impossible to show his full capabilities at the moment and the better question is will he ever get the chance to? Casually reviewing his rookie year not gonna tell you shit but the things we already knew 9 months ago. Nagy and pace desperately got him as an bargaining chip to stay a while longer. Really didn’t try to play him at first and when they did they had little to no plays made to his special skill set. This year you’ll see a difference if you haven’t seen it already in sample sizes from him in last two preseason games

    Interesting to watch this now, in March 2023 after the Bears traded down their #1 overall--because of course they sucked just as much or more through the 2022 season--and now have a shit ton of draft picks, and DJ Moore. So after two full seasons, the Chicago front office appears to have finally realized that they probably should get some help for their high-profile, young qb. Hopefully for his sake, two full seasons of complete failure and getting his ass destroyed by opposing defenses hasn't wrecked Fields for good. If he never lives up to his potential, I think as much blame has to be put on the organization as on Fields himself. It reminds me od Alex Smith: dude finally became a pro-bowler after he was all beat up at the end of his career because, after years of terrible teams and dozens of coaches in SF, he eventually played on a competent team led by Andy Reid who knew how to make the most of his talents. And then, of course, he had the continued bad luck to lose his job to the best qb in a generation, get traded to another incompetent team, and have his his leg broken so bad that he almost have to have it amputated. Smith might have been a great qb instead of a guy who had to play his ass off in the latter part of his career to prove he wasn't a bust in the early part. I hope Fields gets a fairer shot to succeed than Smith ever did.

    I agree 100% that is isn't fair to evaluate Fields based on last year, and that goes for any other talent on that roster! One thing missed in this is that Fields took ZERO snaps with the Ones in training camp - he was relegated to holding a clipboard until tossed into the fire during the Cleveland game! Add in a ridiculous game plan based on the talent and he was setup for failure. His detractors are quick to point out his slow reads without acknowledging that he had not be coached effectively, was playing with what appeared to be sub par talent, and had to deal with horrific play calling!!! Hell Nagy went through 4 different QB and a Superbowl MVP stated many times the offensive scheme didn't work!!

    I don’t think the team around him will matter a whole bunch for this season. We have players who are decent and know how to get open. No big names but players who can play. Our line is upgraded from last year and as long as our wr’s are giving more effort than allen robinson did that group is better. Plus our coaches actually know what they’re doing now so that’s a huge bonus. Really enjoyed the video! People just need to approach this situation with alot of patience. I might get alot of flack for this, but this is ostensibly Fields' 'first' season. Last season was a lost season, with Fields not even working with the 1's in camp and running an offense that everyone knew would be gone come season's end. At the very least he has now gotten a full camp as the starter, running a Shanahan style offense that is more suited to his game. I'm looking to see more from him this year, while being more critical of his game as well now that he's had more time. Even still, the goal is just to keep him alive. Next year will be the make or break year, when he's had more than a season in the offense and the team is able to use the cap to support him. What he looks like then will probably be what he 'is', so to speak.

    • @Devil-ev3zm

      That's contingent on the wideouts being open, of which the bears do not possess the necessary talent for that to happen. So you must rely on your o'line to provide enough time for them to BECOME open. Which if we haven't figured out yet, isn't going to happen.

  • @jeffnovorita3017

    Fields is bad. He’ll be out of the NFL by 2025. If he got drafted by another team things probably would have worked out better for him. Chicago is where QBs go to die.

    • @stormysyndrome7043
      @stormysyndrome7043 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chicago is where all NFL players go to die. This team is cheap. Even when they try to spend money, they spend it on the wrong players, or players who aren't compatible within whatever they're trying to run.
      If you run specific systems, shouldn't you be bringing in players who are best capable of running those specific systems, rather than the best available talent of whatever system they happen to have come up in? I mean....this is why i don't like system players. Especially system players the Bears tend to bring in. They NEVER match up, nor mesh.
      I prefer players be capable of making all plays. Defenses have to learn different offensive schemes. Why aren't offenses capable of running different offenses? Why can't players ad lib today, the way they used to? Imagination and creativity go out the window once a single person is named the creator of a particular offense, defense, or special teams, and coaches are told they will adapt to that specific system, or player.
      Waterboy coach concept. Just intimidate them a little...they'll forget how to create new plays, how to ad lib in games, and the same teams will forever be the best. After all, they created the systems the rest of the league is copycatting off of.
      To be clear, i have nothing against system, nor hybrid teams.....but some of the best music i've ever heard were mashups of different styles of music. Sports... is like music....athletes just have to hear the same tune/beats at the same time and act in unison. Hybrid teams are new sheets of music being written with old chords but always evolve into something new.

    Justin doesnt even have a full year on his belt, so when people say "after 1 year", im always left confused. when 90% of the folks talking about the Bears, talk about them being the worst team in the NFL, even tho they havent seen all the Bears "no name starters" play 1 single full game, im left even more confused. btw, folks keep trying to pump up Trubisky, as if he is some future HOF, that Nagy ruined, is hilarious. Trubisky barely beat out the Steelers rookie QB. Nagy sucked, but i dont think Trubisky was ever a 1st rd talent. Nagy had to work with Trubisky, even tho he was never his QB of choice to begin with

    I love how the first sack shown is fields holding on to the ball for like 5 seconds in the pocket. I'm so sick of the Nagy hate. How can bears fans say Nagy is the worst and pace is the worst when they were basically .500. either Nagy elevated the team to .500 with a subpar roster. Or the roster was good enough to elevate Nagy to .500. or they were both mediocre. Those are the only 3 options. You can't be like fields is going to be so much better with out Nagy, and poles inherited an awful roster and couldn't do anything. Those are contradicting ideas

    • @owtkvst
      @owtkvst 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the thing is, the roster under Pace WASNT terrible in any way shape or form. That’s overblown by people. We had a decent Oline(sometimes mediocre), a good RB, a promising TE, and two very good WRs in Mooney and Robinson. Not to mention a good defense with guys like Mack, Quinn, Hicks, Goldman, Nichols, Johnson, and Jackson. The biggest issue was the play calling and decisions by Nagy with his personnel. U can’t fit square pegs in round holes and that’s what Nagy tried to do. He tried to force Fields(and Trubisky for that matter) to be pocket passers only behind Olines that couldn’t hold up for as long as they needed to read the field. He rarely got them on the move and he completely deviated from the new standard in the NFL which is the play action pass. For example, last year Fields was one of the best passers in the league on designed roll outs and using play action but in both categories we ran them the least in the league last year. I don’t think the personnel was ever the issue, I think this year will show that. By no means do I think we’ll be good, but Fields is gonna show major improvements(based on training camp and preseason he’s already showing a bunch with his timing, footwork, and ability to read the defense and adjust at the line of scrimmage) in this offense with an OC that’s building an offense around his skill set instead of forcing him to be a QB he isn’t. Remember, Nagy’s offense last year was built for QBs like Dalton which is why when he came in the game, the offense ran smoother. It wasn’t built for the talents Fields has. That changes this year.

Bears have their issues but they made the playoffs in 2020. He could have gone to a much worse situation. Like Jags or Jets.

    It doesn’t seem fair for these NFL recruits to put in all the work they do in college to be the best at what they do only to be “chosen” to play on a team with little or no coaching talent, almost dooming them from the start. If you really wanted to expose bad coaching and organizations, give each recruit three “decline” options during the draft. Example: Bears pick Justin Fields at pick 11, Justin “declines” and the Bears have to go to another pick. Next team up With QB need, New England at pick 15. NE choose Justin Fields and he accepts.
