Kids today have too much screen time, at the end of this European tour they have never been fitter..

I was there a week ago - it was hot then 37°C tops on Sunday 11th August. Stayed at the Medos(z) hotel, very nice, near the Oktagon transport hub

Not safe to hike in 35 degrees. Nobody even had a hat on.

It would have been fine if the Citadel had been open as there used to be a cafebar up there. Signs posted or red tape would have been useful. So many more people and groups of people were heading up to be dissapointed.

So you blame the Budapest transport company because you didn't validate your ticket? hmm...

@@jesszumpappini nowhere in the world do you buy a ticket and then have to put the ticket into a machine 5 meters away from the machine you just purchased it from, unless it physically stops you from entering with a barrier then you can put the ticket in to a machine to open the gate. See how this system gets tourists every time because it doesn't make sense.

I don't think they target tourists - it wouldn't be wise of the city, don't you think so? It's more of not being mindful of people who use public transport. It was installed in the communist are, it's a heritage from that time and they just don't bother to change it into an automatic system. We have it everywhere in the country, it's not about tourists in Budapest, trust me. It happened to me quite a few times and I am Hungarian. I just forgot to validate the ticket.

The guy who targeted us certainly made his way in a direct line allowing all other travelers to pass as he raced towards us, we were easy prey, it certainly looked like he was targeting the luggage carrying foreigners. He was a shorter gentleman with short black hair, my 12 year old said he was just missing his toothbrush moustache which gave us all a giggle in such disappointing circumstances.

Agreed nobody likes an arrogant American do they! Budapest is definitely a city who has an anti-tourist agenda and that is fine with me, I just wish I had known that before I set foot on the train.
