I have gone through this estrangement for 2 years already from parent/my own 30-something son. Very, very hurtful with no cause known. Very 💔- my faith keeps my head/heart/soul straight and magnesium/b1 helps my physical self. Those who do not have that probably have an even greater loss as this could be the malignancy of narcissim...smh..

Karl, this was so helpful to me because I never thought of myself as "obsessing" on my toxic family of origin but I do! Now that I've pinpointed the problem, I can start working to stop it by listening to more of your helpful videos. Thank you!

This is a fantastic video. I think this would be great advice for my family members. They have very obsessively anxious personalities. This actually helps me understand how they are psychologically disfunctioning and that there are solutions for them, whether they take them or not, I don't really care as I have lost interest in trying to "help" them. But I feel great that there are solutions to this kind of behaviour.

obsessive yep! I can stop for a long, then run into someone because we live in a small town.. Then I obsess for days.. Please tell me I have reached out for 3 years and she loves to reject me even when i see her. Should I stop reaching out? Now she is going to have a baby and puts it all over the internet.. Eveyone wants to tell me and the hurt is unending.... the pain is so raw... I want to walk away!

Hi, sorry to hear of the impact the estrangement on you. Obsessive thinking is common, but is a product of the deep emotional connection of family and distress of having this severed... especially multiple times by ongoing rejection. The best advice I can give is find a qualified therapist in your local area. Their job is to create a safe space to process the difficult emotions, including grief, and overtime you may find you have little interest in thinking about family and can focus on your own growth. Thanks for reaching out and make sure you prioritize self-care and minding yourself in this difficult time. Take care Karl

Nobody understands or cares at all. My situation is far too tragic, isolating, complex, unproductive and limiting. Even after the second time leaving my parents, one of whom died and of course that is my fault, I am not at all: free, coping, better, happy or successful. This is no quality of life. It's bad enough I was born to such useless, failed, ugly, elderly, life ruining outcasts but to still be neglected by authorities is torment What can people with no support do? I deserve a better life, whatever time is left.
