I'm sorry my friend but this is not one of the greatest world cup themes ever it is simply "The Greatest" no contest or competition it is simply sublime.
I can't believe there are no comments for this version of Nessun Dorma! So I'll be the 1st eh?! The Italia '90 concert brought opera to the masses, successfully. Lucky for me, my mother intoduced to this beautiful music from a young age, and I'm thankful to my Mum for that. Love you Mum x
I'm old, but, this solo performance from an established opera, is what bought opera to the masses. Massive song from a stella performer, the world has diminished by losing Luciano
Me too, what a fantastic tune and a great world cup, with the quality we had we could have won it, today with this manager and team we will win nothing
Was 9 years old. Didn’t know what was about to happen at the time but that summer changed my young life!! Roger milla , Gazza, Roberto Baggio. Was just magnificent.
@@Dancemomslover711 Baggio burst on the scene in 1990 with his wonderful solo goal against Czechoslavakia by 1994 he was already the best player in the world and had won the world player of the year, 1990 he came on scene not 1994
Tears of sadness when italy lost in the semi finals in Naples this song came at the end of the game while all of Italy was mourning after the dissapointment of our best team being out not..although it gives me as well tears of joy seeing that beautifiul summer where italy was the centre of the Universe and the azzuri was unforgetable..
+FREEDOM FIGHTERS It makes me sad that they give cups to places like Qatar and Russia now, or the shared Euro's between many countries. The idea was to make a country and their passion for the game the center of the world (or Europe) for a summer. I get sharing it around the globe but I will never see Spain or England host a cup in my lifetime! And I am was too young to remember Italia 90 properly. Brazil was fair but they need to give it to countries who live and breath football, not whoever bribes FIFA most consistently.
I agree. However, he did not connect with his audience. Through it all he seemed to distance himself from his audience, yet after he broke some spell and addressed his audience. Magnificent voice and what worked back then would not work now. Just saying.
MARSBELLA1 I welcome your feedback. It was just my relative opinion I had at the time. Coming from my end I read many comments I don't particularly like either but hey, it's OK, everyone is entitled to their opinion. So I don't take comments that don't agree with me I read on the internet personally either.
Mr Pavarotti made classical music open to all with this. Back then I struggled to get into the classical/ opera scene but now regularly listen to Classic FM
Took me right back to the night of the final and watching with my dad. Neither of us particularly follow this kind of music, but we were both mesmorized by this rendition from the Legend that is Luciano Pavarotti.
Born the year this came out and all I heard when growing up that 90s world cup was the best tournament. And everyone going how great everything was. I personally think this song set the whole tournament on the path to become the most absolutely beautiful tournament we have ever seen.
Italia 90 must've been some great times. Seeing England reach a semi final for the first time since their win in 1966. Everyone rushing home to watch England play their biggest rival West Germany and be defeated. Gazzas tears will be a photo to remember. RIP Sir Bobby Robson, a true footballing great 🇬🇧
1990 world cup forever etched in my memory. Please transport me back to a great summer best world cup ever. Treasured memories of great people and family who have sadly passed❤
Obviously Pavarotti was the best and did bring Nessus Dorma to everyone. He had such a large thoracic cavity that allowed him to sing without showing any difficulty. Wonderful singer. I do wish that he showed physical movement with his arms and expressions but I guess there was 1 thing on his mind and that was the ending ! It shows total fixation which is something to be greatly admired. Magnificent, even tho the was a very tiny wobble. Who cares X
I thought he was the best in Nessun Dorma too, until I listened to Franco Corelli’s one. He is just unbeatable. That’s like saying that Pavarotti is 99% and Corelli is that 1% more that make him 100% perfect. You really can’t outperform him.
A proud Italian here. After listening to Luciano Pavarotti there is no question that the human voice is by far the greatest instrument ever produced by God or man. Italy 1990 one of the best World Cups and this song Nessun Dorma was the icing on the cake. R.I.P Mr Pavarotti .
One of the greatest World Cup anthems there has ever been
The greatest
It just fitted in perfectly.
@@badrhaskouri327 I agree so much! Well said.

Shut up you old fart and get yourself on tik tok
@F ew. Stop.
Today is the first day of EURO 2020 Football Organization in Rome, i dreamed of him singing Nessun Dorma again and again. Rip dear Luciano 🙏
May be it wasn't him doing it... but Andrea Bocelli lived up to all expectations and even beyond... it was astonishing...
@@javiervargas3578 you're not wrong dear Javier ✌, i gotto hand it to Bocelli, he managed beyond the expectations 👏
👌👌👌
Italians do it best when it comes to football ceremonies
And Italy won awesome
I was so sad to see Luciano leave us so early only 71, he was the greatest tenor to walk on the planet! Rest well Luciano, God has you now.
I love after how he’s belted out the ending, he cracks out a smile and sticks out his tongue like “ have some of that “
Still gives me goosebumps. RIP Luciano.

Gary lineker shitting his pants...
Toto Schillaci
I would have said Baggio came into his own in 94
Schillaci was unreal - not the great star player but he lit that tournament up. Unforgettable.

The greatest star of the 1990 world cup

Puccini aveva già predetto che lui sarebbe stato il miglior interprete, nessuno mai più come lui 👏

best male voice of all time Luciano Pavarotti
Instantly transported back to the summer of 1990. I'd go back in a second to relive it.
There is Pavarotti then there is everybody else.
We miss you, maestro.
Still after 30+ years hairs on the back of my neck and welling up just amazing
When you play, feel and love football it's very easy to cry listen to this masterpiece.
Had this played at my late wife’s funeral 12 years ago weren’t a dry eye in the house so so powerful.

A musical genius was truley lost the day Pavarotti died. His music always makes me cry it's so emotional and beautiful. He is our times Beethoven.
Bad comparison, Beethoven was a composer and Pavarotti a performer. Both A* in their respected fields though.
World Cup 1990 genius 👍🏻🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
No one comes close to Pavarotti. An absolute master.
1990 what a year. Reminds me of happiness💙💙💙💙 R.I.P Big Man

No, No! I will tell it to your lips when the light will shine!
And my kiss will melt the silence that makes you mine!
