    Assuming this was imported from Japan, because the reason why the manual is in Japanese is because the SX model is still produced and only available for purchase within Japan. If you're in the US, the SP-404 model available for sale, brand new, is the SP-404A which comes with a manual in English. When the SP-404SX was still available new in the US, it came with an English manual as well.

    Great vid thanks for taking the time. It may help me get over this damn hurdle... I'm an old skool sampler user since the 80s had many many samplers and have had an OG one of these since 2017 {i had hoped i could use it for extra sample time with my sp1200 like we used to do with akai s950 + the fx are a must have.... yet even now I still can't get my head around it whenever I plug it in! I love how it sounds and am determined to find my way of using it.
    This doesn't work like any other piece of kit which is it's unique beauty but I do wish there was a version that had slightly better midi sequencing and sampler features (eg midi tracks / mutes / mpc style '16 levels' or somesuch way to put the pads in chomatic mode or multi velocity/filter or whatever parameter like + sample choke groups + maybe a little more to the quantise like timing & swing shift.
    I've mainly held on to this for it's great sound and fx + its perfect as a soundboard / like an inexpensive and programmable Instant Replay (anyone remember those crazy devices?).
    My main point of frustration is that it sounds so much better than many samplers but I can't imagine trying to make full songs and get the stems to mix after the fact which is a process i enjoy. Im blimmin well determined to join in on this SP404 party!!! Til then my trusty 1200 will have to suffice 🤠

    just bought one and was watching @spvidz and @Lofi Chops pretty juiced cus I can see a usage pattern.

    This video is going to be a lifesaver. I haven't found out yet if you can set a sample loop like the pattern, my end point timing is awful. I was mostly going to use this for one shots anyway but I'm super curious.

    • @User173
      @User173  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, you can set a sample to loop. Just get it trimmed up right and it will loop great.

      @@User173 oh I mean the way you can make the pattern a set tempo and bar length. Like on the Korg KP3

    • @User173
      @User173  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@charliecowan9973 No, I don't think you can do that on this one, unfortunately.

    Great video I’ll will be watching it a few times over. Question ☝🏽🕺🏾 so I have a long pattern that I want to cut up into small samples can I use the mark function to mark the beginning and end of the parts I want and then move that section over to another button using the exchange function without effecting the original length
    Just exchanging over the marked sections I want .....

    • @User173
      @User173  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yup, absolutely how you do it. Mark it, adjust it, then copy to a new pad so that you have a duplicate and it will keep the mark, then truncate that pad. this way you always keep your long sample.
