It's movie day at the Archive, but you're not invited. Well, maybe you can join us for Intermission at least... - ตลก
I wish they'd bring back intermissions for movies 2 1/2 hours or more so we can rebutter popcorn or take a bathroom break without missing any of the movie. I know theaters had some interesting intermissions too, if not as entertaining as drive-ins.
If I remember correctly theaters at that time would show two or three movies through out the day in the same room which were the reason for the intermissions. Now they have those google plex type theaters which only show on movie per room. so, I guess there's no reason for the intermissions.
I agree. It would be great for audiences, great for theaters, and wouldn’t cost the movie producers anything.

Walt Disney got started with intermissions! His first cartoons were called Newman's Laugh-O-Grams and played inbetween silent movies. If you could find those, you'd probably be rich beyond the dreams of big piles of moolah. (Avarice? No thanks, I just ate.)

Strange thing is, I just went to a local drive-in last night.
The show started with an ancient, probably late 60's animation set to our national anthem. Why? I guess they wanted to remind the audience that they're in AMERICA.
Then intermission came.
The hot dogs...
they were FLOPPING ABOUT.
AND THE ICE CREAM BARS WERE DOING BACKFLIPS.

I've been there. There's an oddly large amount of still functioning drive in theaters in SW Michigan for some reason. Pretty awesome.

In the Uk we had the classic Pearl & Dean (yes it's on TH-cam) intermission with the local curry house adverts. :)

Wow, thanks for making me wish it were March so the drive-in would open. Also, this was hilarious and ironic enough....the drive-in near us DOES play these old ads for the heck of it turning movies! XD

7:48 Actually, am I the only one who does NOT want to go outside (in the dark) when it's raining AT ALL? I mean, for some odd reason (especially in a drive in movie place), I'd always imagine it ending up being progressively aggressive.... Than there's the thunder...... And then a tornado warning is called out.......... And then a tornado is touching down right in the middle of the drive-in (and the lights are probably either flickering or completely out.... and the car lights aren't on)..... Maybe I should've NEVER watched Twister. :(

These ads are so deeply and profoundly 'MURICA, it's actually quite glorious. Often terrifying, too, but glorious.

Actually, drive in theaters still exist! Search up "Texas drive in" but I may be wrong about the name though...
+Minecraftdude456 The Winchester in Oklahoma City is still active, and one of the last working drive-ins in the state. It was briefly closed following storm damage in 2013, but it didn't take that long to fix it.
+timekiller_s let's be honest, it probably took little to no effort to fix it.

Corndogs are only worth eating if you get them from the State Fair of Texas, the birthplace of the corndog. Probably one of the few good things about living here...
