So yesterday at around 10am Sydney Australian time my wife Mary and I received our delivery of one absolutely stunning pair of Il Cremonese Ex3ma speakers. I’ve waited a long time for these. Unboxing was relatively simple thanks to me watching both your unboxing videos. So thank you James for those videos as they were quite helpful. These were an upgrade from our previous Sonus Faber Amati Futura speakers also Red Violin. However as you pointed out the Red Violin of the Ex3mas are different and only for the Ex3mas. I was completely surprised at how much better these were from the. Amati Futuras. So much more detail and awesome soundstage. But what I personally loved was how realistic musical instruments sounded. I was literally in the recording studio and they still need 80-100 hours to run in. Also we have to finish treating our listening room. A very well educated longtime audiophile friend of ours was speechless. All he could say was “Impressive”. They are very commanding. We love. Anyone who has a pair of Il Cremonese speakers will fully appreciate how we feel. The wait was absolutely worth it. 😎👍
The Amatis and the IL cremonise speakers are quite far apart in terms of what level of system each of them need to get the most out of them and also what size room you need for them to play comfortably. Personally in the room we have here and the gear we have, I think the Amatis actually balance and perform better than the Il Cremonise do, but I’m sure if we had a bigger room and stepped up the quality of our CD player, pre and power amp, the Cremonise would be far superior. So I guess it’s not as simple as what’s the better speaker, it’s more about what speaker suits your setup.

how do these compare to the Amati G5? i know they are more expensive but the American distributor said the g5 were the best tech advance?
