    The train from Madrid to Toledo is likely to be crowded, so buy your tickets at least a day in advance.
    Outside the century-old train station in Toledo, you’ll find taxis waiting, so you can choose to take a car or walk the mile into town.
    The Puente de San Martin one of Toledo’s major landmarks. In medieval times, it had drawbridges and gates, but it's now wide open for the public.
    Off the side of the bridge, you’ll find pathways leading you down to the Tagus River, and a system of trails running along the water.
    As for the best sites to see in Toledo:
    The fortress above the city, known as the Alcazar, was originally built as a palace during Roman times.
    Walking the stone streets in town, you’ll come across Toledo’s cathedral.
    It’s one of the largest in Spain, and took 250 years to build.
    The streets are lined with shops and cafes, and you’ll notice: many of the stores are selling medieval merchandise and swords.
    Toledo was long known as a major sword manufacturer in Europe.
    As for the best time to visit Toledo, remember: it gets hot in the summer, with highs in the 90s. In April, October, and November, expect daily highs in the 70s.
