  • First, you can’t book a reservation on the Havasupai helicopter. You’ll have to show up and line up at its landing spot here at the Hualapai Hilltop parking lot. It's first come, first serve.

Locals get first priority, followed by contractors or workers hired by the Tribe. Then tourists can board.
The helicopter drops you off in the village of Supai, near the lodge. If you’re camping, it’ll be another two-mile hike down to the campground.
The cost is generally $100 to fly in the helicopter (each way). Bring cash in case the signal isn’t strong enough for the credit card reader to work.
The Havasupai helicopter usually runs Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. It may be down for service or a storm, or diverted for a rescue.
The flights start around 9:00 or 10:00 in the morning. People often lineup before dawn, especially in the village of Supai to fly out. On the busiest days, you could be waiting 6 hours for a flight. On slow days, if you’re first on the list, it might be just an hour or two. There’s no real solid strategy on how to be efficient, since there are so many variables in play.
Once you board, the ride is 10 minutes over the canyon.
A lot of people love the view, and love skipping the hike, but you should always be prepared to make the trek on foot because the Havasupai helicopter is never a sure bet.

My kids and I hiked into the campground in 2006 and took the helicopter out 3 days later. Camping there was amazing and the flight out was Godsend. The best trip ever for a family with kids. The first 2 miles when going out of the canyon is uphill in sand. My girls were done after that ages 10 & 9. Both athletic and highly active.
