😁 Thanks so much, that's great to hear and glad your enjoying it. If you are looking for something in particular let me know and I can try to direct you 👍🏻
@@ArtisansofVaul well, I actually stuggle with shaping something similar to a sceleton of an Imperial knight from wh40k, do you know how to model such comlex shapes?
@Senatus Populusque Romanus Hmm... I don't specifically (I'll add it to the list for sure though) but a lot of the general ideas would probably be on the most recent piston video here: th-cam.com/video/KILn2Y8oRXA/w-d-xo.html Although not directly related this also has a lot of the boxcutter ideas I'd use if I made one too: th-cam.com/video/j588pWKsWSk/w-d-xo.html
Have you ever had issues with using the macro (1.05 time on your vid) especially the alt left click function? I am having issues where it doesn't recognize the alt click function and does weird stuff? just wondering if you have had any issues as well? Also great vid again.
Thanks. The only time I have had an issue with it is where there is an issue with the mesh, either a face has a flipped normal or there is a double vertex on top of each other. I'd check those first.
For what I think you're asking then yes. You either want to array along a path but you may be better off with instancing on points after creating your line. EM macro is a function in the Hard Ops menu (a paid for add on). Its a VERY common hard surface add on used with Boxcutter. It's does some amazing things and really speeds up workflow. You can find some videos on boxcutter here: th-cam.com/play/PLnqmLZKRm5CajsNlyFbieVyGxzdbBN-jo.html
The more I use Blender the more I think Hard Ops is worth buying if only for the inset boolean. It's probably the thing I spend the most amount of time trying to achieve manually.
I don't really know any of the tools in Hard Ops yet, but 1 minute into the tutorial and now I know about EM Macro. I'll play around with it - I'm wondering how it is different from the ordinary "scale" tool.
@Hercule Holmes it's pretty much extrude along normals but with faster access and (for me) a preferable interface. Pretty good when it's one of SO MANY tools.
@@ArtisansofVaul Thankyou AoV. 🙂 TBH I struggle with shortcuts! I'm still new to Blender and I don't have a mental map of the hotkeys or what they do. I tend to everything by the GUI dashboard. The EM Macro tool is hidden away in the "Q" menu which isn't anywhere to be seen in the top toolbar, so I have to remember that it even exists. And I have just found the "extrude normals" tool - which is also hidden! It's the E button plus... something. Alt. E+Alt. Secret toolbars suck. But on the plus side I am making progress! The radial array tool is awesome. On the minus side (3 minutes in) I have goofed somewhere.. I've got _two_ modifiers and the cut-outs aren't mirroring. Not a big deal, I will just re-watch and figure it out in a bit. It's MOSTLY working, which is good. .. And 5 seconds later I fixed it already. Just applied whatever that first modifier was (no clue!) and mirror is working. On to the next part!
You're a really good teacher. I'm learning a lot from your videos.
Thanks so much 😁
The layers of effects are brilliantly used!
Thanks so much 😁 Once you can manipulate things like that it's surprising suddenly how much that can be achieved
You're awesome, every single video of yours has so many useful tips and tricks, thank you
Thanks so much man. Great to know the videos are useful 😁
Your channel is a fucking well of information, I don't even know where to start, I need it all

What matcap / default lighting settings do you use ?

is there a way to make shapes along a path? as in raised hexagons a fixed distance away from an edge (aka, bolts/rivets)?

@@ArtisansofVaul Awesome, thanks so much! And thank you for all these amazing and helpful videos!
Thanks for excelent explanation, by the way the only thing I see you don't do it's to delete the cube and create a new one, a tradition lol

It does seem quite an expense but HOps and Boxcutter have saves me SO many hours it's crazy. Totally worth the money.
definitely worth getting mate if you can. best 2 addons I reckon hey
