    Just want to give you a compliment. You're such a good planner and charming :). In order to make a video complete from cutting, showing different ways of propagation until they turn to a fully mature plant, you have been waiting and used up 4 months to share this with us. Really appreciated. You make videos with heart. Thanks!! ( other TH-camrs most probably would have split it into few clips ) and we have to wait at least 1 month to see the result of propagation.....

    Your passion for the plants in your life is wonderful. i have a 2 meter tall Florida Ghost which is a year olsd and has just flowered for the first time. it gets low light. 2 flowers died before opening and then I stared misting the plant 2 times perday to increase the humidity and the first of 3 new flowers has opened. it opened for 48 hours and now it has closed up again. Awesome love for this Phily in our lives who lives next to our bed. Cheeers and keep up the good work. love ya show! Suzan

    Hi Sean. I've tried propagating Florida green twice. First time only 1/3 cuttings made it. The other 2 rotted off. That was half a year ago so I thought I was perhaps inexperienced. Probably stuck the stem too deep into the soil or watered it too much. So this time I cut the stems and did water propagation. I took care to seal the end of the stems with some bonsai wound healing paste on the place end of the stem cutting. Even let it dry out for an hour or so. But when the end of the stem got in contact with water, many cuttings still rotted off. Quite frustrated with this as the green version should have been one of the easier ones.

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heyyy, try to fertilize the plant about a week before cutting it, so its stored enough nutrients. Also do give the cuttings excellent light to maximize success.

    • @kristinetang858
      @kristinetang858 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@onlyplants ok I will try again! The first attempt might have rot due to lack of light. My cuttings have long primary roots. Do you think it would be better to grow the cuttings in damp spaghnum or straight into aroid mix?

      You should change the water when it has algae, as it might compete with nutrients from the plant. But also most plants cannot live long and meaningful lives in water, do consider transplanting it in soil, or propagate it so you have a spare thats in soil.

    Thanks so much for the tip, I lost some indoor plants as I should have watered them less since its winter here. I have an calathea that's indoor & its drying up.on the edges, what's wrong with mine & what can I do to fix it?

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crisping edges could be sign of overwatering or underwatering. It could also be mineral buildups from tap water. My recipe for calatheas success would be to give them very very airy and fast drying media and pot combo that is waterer daily. This ensures theres no period of sogginess and no period of extreme dryness.

    the cataphils / leaf sheaths can be a problem for me - they dont open to release the new leaves, which caused the petioles to snap. Any advice on how to overcome this?

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is probably due to sudden change in environment, or pest pressures. Could also be due to root rot so make sure the roots are ok. With proper care and time this usually remedies itself

    To my knowledge: Philodendron Pedatum is the other parent of the hybrid (the other one is squamiferum as you said). The Florida Beauty has the same parents as well.
    You can differentiate the Pedatum and anything Florida (Green, Ghost, Beauty) by looking at the petioles. The Pedatum has smooth petioles and the Floridas have bumps. 😌

      Is Florida Beauty just Florida ghost with variegation? Or is it Florida green with variegation?

    • @ObileeOo
      @ObileeOo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@epasuxelar4473 Florida Beauty is the variegated form of Florida Green as far as I know.
      Some people even call the green Florida "Florida Beauty" and the one with the variegation "Florida Beauty Variegata".
      But I am not an expert - I just did some research, because I was confused about the whole thing as well.

    My florida green cant tolerate sun too much, the new leaves singe. I have it in a E window and I have to constantly turn it to keep this from happening. Also, mine isnt bushy, its just trailing straight up, its concerning.

    • @onlyplants

      Oooh they grow straight up. Its normal 😀 consider propagating and putting a few in the pot for a bushier look

      Search online at a marketplace platform that serves your area with keyword “transparent pot” or “translucent pot” hope you can find it.

    I purchased this plant as one stem cutting that was rooted. There was a second growth point on the plant and new stem is growing. Will this plant grow large like this one with many leaves or would I need to buy more stem cuttings?

    • @onlyplants
      @onlyplants  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can wait until its bigger, and then decide if you want to chop it up and propagate it for bushier look. Save your money for a different species plant
