Unfortunately around a year ago the climate controls stopped working however other than that was worth the money!

Im still trying to find a decent XT here in Germany cause atm they are either overpriced asf or just rotten

how much?! 1000 dolllars for SF?? Jesus, in Kazakhstan SG5 starts from 9000 USD. I'm about to buy one for myself, that's why I ended up here I guess. I haven't decided turbo or naturally asp..
oh... it's 5000 for SG, but it's a lot cheaper. You guys are lucky

in the uk its like 3k for a decent sg. dont buy a naturally aspirated one, you will just regret it.
Also, keep a close eye on the cooling system, particularly the thermostat. they can fail and it wont always be obvious. i lost an engine due to debris getting into the little bypass hole and preventing enough hot flow to open it. dashboard read normal temps the entire time.
If you have any overheating issues at all, and are inclined to blame the head gasket, check the thermostat first, and use rislone head gasket sealer as a precaution.
Otherwise, they are amazing. amazingly crap mpg too tho, lol.

@@Nbomber why would I regret atmo? Genuine question. Because of the lack of horsepower? Or something else. Because I've been watching reviews and turbo engines are not recommended, as it's not as reliable as atmo

@@unrealkinoart the lack of power pretty much, ive heard from a few people that have owned then that the N/A versions are gutless. and if you are buying it to enjoy, then you would always wish it was a turbo version.
As far as reliability goes, they arent too bad really, just pay attention to the cooling and oiling and they will last.
The funny thing is, its everything else on the car that constantly breaks. They eat clutches, suspension components and brakes. You will always be fixing it regardless of wether it is manual or turbo.
But they are easy and cheap to fix (yourself), and amazing when they are running good.

@@unrealkinoart Most of the reviews you will see are just rubbish from people who have owned their cars for like a month, or heard memes about reliability.
Speak to people who own them.
But i'll be honest, im on my 2nd engine, thermostat broke on my first one on a road trip, overheated the engine till it was bone dry (temp gauge read normal temps) and blew my head gasket due to cylinder head warping. The N/A is equally at risk of this since its the same engine.

      @@Nbomber I see, thanks. I hope I'll end up finding a decent one 😁

Looking to get one for my red ps in nsw, are they legal and would you recommend?

    • @ValveHouseAU
      @ValveHouseAU  ปีที่แล้ว

They are legal and would definitely recommend. As with all Subarus they are costly to repair if the worst happens so ensure you’ve got a good base (service history, low kms if possible, maintenance evidence) and you should be good to go! Both of these have around 270,000kms and run great👍

and heaps cheaper than same year WRX's and only 40kg difference. Lots of aftermarket support, bargain
