I'm a 70-year-old man who watches a lot of rescue stories, but Hugo is the first animal whose story made me tearful. To watch him spin around and then joyfully drag his damaged legs wherever he wanted to go really got to me. This pooch has won the luckiest abandoned dog award with an owner like this dedicated rescuer. With everything going on in this seemingly heartless world, I'm grateful to have experienced his story.

Hugo is my spirit animal! I had an inflamed spine, it caused me to faint with led to my cervical spine being fractured. 8 months after surgery I’m still fighting for every step, fall over a lot and get exhausted so easy because my body just doesn’t move like it’s supposed to. But compared to being paralyzed from the neck down like last summer, I’m a happy happy girl!! We got this Hugo!!
God bless you LeeMary. I also had cervical surgery. After 9hrs in surgery I ended up with a bone donors cervical bones on my C3 to C7 and spent 6mos in a brace. It was wierd when they finally removed my brace it felt like my neck wasn't strong enough to support my head and it tooks months to strenghen those neck muscles. I have limited movement from left to right but I thank GOD everyday that I can walk and function pretty well.

No it doesn't bother me at all. I had it done January 2003. The only thing that's a pain in the butt is the limited mobility of turning my neck left or right but I can live with that. My fear was ending up paralyzed after surgery but thank the good lord everything worked out. I had real bad spinal stenosis and awful migraines.

I want to be “Hugo Happy!” He’s my idol, 100% Look how gentle he is with the baby birds… and patient & calm with the kids/crowds. I wouldn’t be comfortable in either position, to be honest. With that much noise, chaos, being surrounded and that many hands coming at me. Sheesh! How positive he is, despite his rough beginning to life and life-long disabilities. His struggles and discomfort don’t bring him down. He’s a loyal and loving family member, accepts all new friends regardless of their species and differences. If this isn’t the definition of an idol, I don’t know what is! Wow. My goodness, he’s everything. I admire you Sir Hugo, my hat’s off to you. ❤👏🙏🐾

There is something special about fur babies who have a shorter life expectancy than normal. They seem to take in the world in a different way than the ones who have no challenges. These ones teach us all to love life at the fullest. Thank you for taking care of Hugo.

What a handsome, brave, sweet boy. I'm glad you saved him. My guess is his former owners saw all the problems and threw him away like trash because they didn't want to be bothered with a sick animal. It TRULY IS the best thing that could have happened to Hugo. You were his guardian angel. You showed Hugo love when no one else would. You gave him his best chance at a happy life and you showed him that there ARE still good people out there that he can trust to protect him from the monsters and the dark.

Hugo makes me think of myself in sooo many ways! I have Primary Progressive MS and RA. As Hugo, I have mobility issues that impact my walking and my gait. I’m always exhausted as he is since these issues are extremely hard on the body. And, as Hugo, I am a happy person with a positive outlook and I lovvvvve to have fun! Hugo is totally the dog version of me! Totally! He is very precious and what a blessing that you have each other!!!

Thank you for sharing what you do, in my eyes you are a true hero, a hero to me is someone who makes great sacrifices at the expense at there own life. You may not putting your life in life or death situations, but with your fostering of animals with extreme medical needs, you are putting your fosters needs ahead of personal needs. I know a lady who fosters dogs with serious special needs and it is a 24 hour a day job. She is always on duty and she does it without any hesitant, I have so much admiration for her, knowing that the dogs in her care can die at pretty much anytime, would be something very hard for me to do, so thank you and you are appreciated

Thank you for sharing what you do, in my eyes you are a true hero, a hero to me is someone who makes great sacrifices at the expense at there own life. You may not putting your life in life or death situations, but with your fostering of animals with extreme medical needs, you are putting your fosters needs ahead of personal needs. I know a lady who fosters dogs with serious special needs and it is a 24 hour a day job. She is always on duty and she does it without any hesitant, I have so much admiration for her, knowing that the dogs in her care can die at pretty much anytime, would be something very hard for me to do, so thank you and you are appreciated
