I was thinking about doing a compensator for my metal frame 2.0 but every one I’ve seen is way bigger than I want or just looks goofy and idk if I wanna do ports but I’m glad I came across y’all’s products today cuz I haven’t been able to find anything aftermarket thats trustworthy.
Our porting works amazingly well and keeps the same size so you don’t have to mess around with holsters. Also we keep it reliable with the stock springs. But you can swap springs to tune it even more
I figured out how to fix the loose front strap. Just use a non-evasive sharp tool and push on the middle edge of the front strap and it pops right off. put scotch tape in the middle. pop back on. Very tight fit now awsome!!!
My Floyd's EDC magwell will be here tomorrow. I'm a bit of a tinkerer myself, so I plan to put a very small dot of Permatex Ultra Black RTV Gasket Maker/sealant on the frame in the front and back before popping on the magwell extension to ensure a tight fit that remains tight. I did the same with front textured grip panel because it was slightly loose and it bugged the heck out of me (this should not be an issue on an $800 pistol). Initially I put a very thinly sliced piece of open cell foam from an unused headphone cover under it, which solved the looseness problem on the grip panel. This would probably work well for the magwell too. I wanted a more permanent/secure solution for the front grip panel however, hence the RTV gasket maker/sealant (which I had anyway for sealing up the charging handles on AR-15s).
@@floydscustomshop2157 I haven't had a chance to take it to the range yet and have been waiting for my EPS red dot to come in from another vendor, but so far the RTV gasket maker/sealant has worked great. The front strap is rock solid and I don't need to worry about it shifting, creaking, or unexpectedly popping off (not sure if this was an issue for anybody but it was of mine if the gun was dropped or something). The FC magwell is also rock solid and feels like it and the frame are a single piece and like it's part of the factory grip rather than an extra part bolted on. I REALLY dig the magwell.
Nice tip you guys. So far I'm loving my EDC magwell and EDC low profile magazine base plates for my Smith&Wesson M&P9 2.0 4.25 metal. Love that 🤏 extra grip on my support hand pinky. Feels. GREAT! Thanks to EVERYONE at Floyd's.
UHMW Tape works very well for these kind of things also. Provides reduced friction if it does move so it doesn't wear through the tape also. Just clean with alcohol before applying.
It seems that Smith & Wesson could do a better job of keeping tighter tolerances on their frames. Instead of using tape I wonder how a small dab of a silicon sealer would work. Tubes of clear silicon can be purchased at most hardware stores. It's like a very thick paste which never completely hardens and remains almost like a rubber-like substance. It would be easily removed and is generally harmless to painted surfaces.
Almost looks like the rear grip panel is interfering with the magwell. On the large grip panel(maybe also the medium/large) part of it sticks down in the back where the small and medium panels appear to just be straight across.
I got mine from Ed brown and it’s been a pain in my ass to install , I have the metal series myself and just can’t get that magwell in 😭 i watch their video and they made it look easy with the polymer version but this damn metal different 😭 I love it but I sometimes regret it due to the material of the gun and how hard it is to put Parts in
I watched this video and was a little concerned about the fit of the magwell on the metal…had the JP weld on the side just in case it needed a dab…when I got it…it was rock solid…bought the mag extensions and springs too…cannot say how awesome the quality and fit and finish is…I was never a s&w buyer…but knowing Floyd’s is out there…I will be paying s&w guns much more attention when I’m looking at future purchases…oh…and their shipping speed is amazing…had a tracking number same day and out in the mail the next day…Floyd’s is easily a 5 star quality and customer service company. Next step, Floyd’s custom slide and barrel 👍
Part of me would rather see you make two separate mag wells. One for the standard metal and one for the competitor. I have neither of those firearms and my opinion is moot at best.
Problem is it’s not a difference in the competitor vs the metal frame. It’s a tolerance issue with all the metal frames. We can’t control there machining, some are good and tight and others are a little loose.
Remove the mag and press that grip from inside the mag well to pop it out. I then used scotch tape on the grip and kept fitting it until it was tight. Mine took 3 pieces of tape before it was tight.

Should grab one of ours 😜 we used to make there magwells and extensions, but they took our design somewhere else and guess the quality has changed
