We came full circle: They made polymer-guns to make them cheaper, lighter etc, the polymer-gun evolved and now they make them in metal again - because cool. I really love the looks, S&W got a hit there IMO.
Always amazed at wall behind Jerry with all of the bullets and ammo boxes behind him from all the years of shooting. Would be cool to see a video of some of the more unique or rare items back there.
Sir! You shoot for them they should give you anything you ask for ! Besides that you are one of the greats in the firearms industry! Thank you for all you do to make the industry great. 👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
My son and I have the honored to meet Jerry two times in one year, he shook my hands both times, what a great role model. And were just hillbillies in Montana
I was super proud of myself with a 2.06 at the bill drill.sode match last year at CO nats. Mr. Jerry pops a 2.18 and says its a slow controlled 6 shots. Got to love this guy. Also i just picked up my first S&W and it is the metal 4.25. This thing is awesome. Feels very close to a 1911, amd trigger is really good for a stryker fired gun.
It's funny that the reviewers that have been bad mouthing Smith and Wesson are not in the official reviewers loop. They are butt hurt as Smith didn't send them a gun to review. They typically praise guns made in Turkey because they are cheap. My Shield Plus and Equalizer are awesome American made guns that function flawlessly. I also applaud Smith and Wesson's CEO for standing up to the liberal gun banners in congress. I'll probably never purchase a race gun but enjoy Jerry and Smith and Wesson.
@@HammondArmory All I'm saying is that my Smith and Wesson products, as well as those of my friends, work great, look good, are reliable and American made which is a big deal to me. Whether shills or butt hurt wannabe schills, the proof is the performance and whether the buyer is satisfied. Of course my opinion and yours are just that, opinions.
@@chriscarnes87 like Jerry said, there's a lawyer behind every blade of grass. You know what you're doing but maybe Bubba and Cletus would put the parts in wrong and blow their pointy little heads off.
I’m so glad to see your review. I just bought that same pistol last Saturday and I haven’t been able to fire it yet now I’m glad I did buy it. Thank you for your review.
Gorgeous pistol! I like that you can disassemble it without pulling the trigger. S&W semi-auto's have come a long way over the years. Now, if I could only afford one!
I have been saying the same thing about S&W empty chamber indicators for years!!! They cause debris to get on the window of your optic. Which is why I always tell people to get it milled so you can put that rear sight in front to solve that problem. Thanks you for being truthful about their products Jerry.
I just experienced this, went to clean and found a massive gunk on my optic that i thought was damage, and it even hardened up to need cleaner. the S&W Equalizer optics plate is at least further back and not having this issue on it, but the comp is def a big issue.
I REALLY love these two last new 2.0 metal pistols from Smith&Wesson. I know I'll be purchasing the 1st 2.0 metal next Saturday. Then the Competitor 2.0 metal in January. I've been doing the review on the 1st 2.0 metal for the last month. Leraning the whole breakdown of the pistol. I even ordered up a dry fire kit from G-site to practice with the pistol when I get it and to train my eyes to focus before I get the pistol I ordered up Chris sajnog shooters string. Love this product. Since I've had it a week now. My focus is GREATLY improved
To be a professional exhibition shooter you have to be able to know enough about what you are shooting in order to get the gun to run like you want it to. I'm in no way up to Jerry's calibration but I am calibrated too only on a different level. I wish I could shoot as often as Jerry but I don't have access anymore to our old family property. Sold! Hopefully I can find another piece somewhere, and I will have total control over that one. Getting hard to find places to shoot any more. You can at least still go and shoot off of the bridges in the country and shoot water mocassins in the spring. Good shooting Jerry, I like that S&W. Wonder if it comes in .30 carbine?
I enjoyed the details of how this MP is different than the polymer models that preceded it. I did not get those details from some of the other channels that released videos on day 1 of its release.
Are those actually useable front serrations 😊 Also agree…the “chamber” indicator is a waste-difficult to see in good light, forget it in the dark; press check (or better yet, look at Taurus tactile chamber indicator on the side)
I’m wondering why S&W decided to make the frame aluminum. As the metal gun weighs just about the same as the polymer 5 inch m&p. Competition wise, I would think people would prefer all steel for the additional weight. Just a thought, not completely disregarding the gun.
This is what I've been screaming from the rooftops since this released. How does a Turkish company like Canik realize this better than an American company with the release of their Rival Steel model?
I'm just gonna have to go put in an order for one of these babies. I have a version one M&P that is 7 or 8 years old....don't remember. It has fired nothing but reloads from my bench and it has never let me down in the local pistol comps and 3-gun matches. Just a beast. I think the M&P is behind my XDM 5.25 by 8,000 rounds because I bought the M&P a year after the XDM.
I have always liked a Metal frame guns. I own some Beretta's and a few other full metal frame guns and I like them all. Might just have to give this one a try.
Beautiful review and some mighty fine shootio. I got mine home today. Anxious to get it to the range. The trigger is different than my Walther PDP. Dry fire the Walther feels better but you can't obviously go y that. It will be interesting to see the S&W vs the Canik Rival SFX S. Two all metal guns with exactly the same price. Keep them g#ns coming.
These are really sharp looking guns. I just wish they weren't pushing $900 when it's said and done. I just got a Canik Rival for my first pistol, I am looking for a 2nd one that's a little smaller to carry
Still shooting a polymer 5" M2.0 CORE. Shot the X5 Legion for a year, which I found easy compared to the M&P, but I prefer the smith ergos. Any justification for owning a Competitor instead of a polymer CORE if I don't need a magwell of extended mag release?
I’ve had no less than 10 light primer strikes with a variety of ammo brands…~800rnds…. Yes I’ve cleaned and lubed the gun many times. Any suggestions as I have another match in about 3 weeks.
Wow, you don't like that chamber indicator too. Since we use optics now, I've never understood why they keep putting those in guns. There are other methods of chamber indicators that don't blow carbon on the optic lens. Just pick one and use it.
Greetings from the I20 end of LA. Questions for you, Jerry. Why isnt a ported barrel allowed in production class? Isnt a compensator allowed in production class? What are common 'upgrades' in the open class, that arent allowed in the production class, and how significant are they?
Smith & Wesson needs to make all of their 9mm pistols have large enough ejection ports so that you can interchange different caliber barrels and magazines. That's why I bought my original Smith & Wesson M&P in 40 S&W, so I could change out the barrel and use it as a 9mm or a 357 Sig. This modularity is very useful and helpful (at this point you might as well sell all M&P's with Optics ready cuts in the slides and threaded barrels on everything in addition to installing APEX triggers). Also I noticed the new fully metal Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 no longer has the detent in the way of the slide stop/release (is about time if you ask me, that slide stop detent was nothing but trouble). Also make the trigger guard larger so there's enough room to use a heavy glove for winter. I also like how Glocks triggers stay in the rear position when they are not cocked.
So can lefty’s use the right side “slide stop” as a slide release again? That’s the hugest letdown on the 2.0s. It’s a massive engineering cop out for a modern striker fired gun to not have a functioning slide release.
hello! I have a question. I hope you could answer for me. I have two Smith and Wesson M2.0 one full size 4.25 17 round magazine and one compact 3.6 15 round magazine, can I use the 15 round magazine in my 17 round pistol? Thank you! In advance
*** I have a Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Metal and I bought it new at the store. But it has a problem after 200rd: when firing, at one point the bullet gets stuck in the magazine because the spring loses its position and the bullet is not aligned with the chamber. All the magazines that came from the factory (17rd), have the same problem. Later, I bought another magazine in another store on 17rd, and I have the same problem. what problem could that be? Hey jerry love your stuff keep it up! I just got my competitor last month got a few thousand rounds through it. Awesome gun have any recommendation for a new trigger that has no safety and less slack, and any recommendations on a ported barrel?
The video I've been waiting for since I saw this pistol released. My question is how are you liking that trigger. I tried and M&P 2.0 polymer and didn't like that hinged trigger. The new trigger looks similar to an Apex. So if this is going to be your 3 gun pistol, would be cool to see a video on what mods you plan to make to it for you for competition
That's the same factory trigger in the Shield Plus and I love it. My other 3 M&Ps had the hinged triggers. I do well with all but I love the flat trigger the best.
Hope u see this comment Jerry. U have inspired me to train harder and so I am looking for a durable affordable platform. Whould u still recommend this after shooting it for a year?? God bless.

We came full circle: They made polymer-guns to make them cheaper, lighter etc, the polymer-gun evolved and now they make them in metal again - because cool. I really love the looks, S&W got a hit there IMO.
Aluminum is just hard plastic. Jk. I hope it’s at least 6065 anodized.
yeah looks nice and metal is better for reliability and could possible help with recoil
Such a great shooter. And gotta be the best pistol review I've ever viewed. Thank you Jerry.

Congrats from Brazil! 👍🎯

Or maybe the ones in "the official loop" are there because they are shills?? It's hard to believe most of the reviews because of bias either way...
The only problem with S&W is they won’t sell you parts directly, you have to send their guns in.

YES!!! I've been asking and waiting for a metal framed M&P and especially a competition version after the first metal frame came out.
Haven’t gotten to shoot the metal yet, but I did handle it at the store and the the trigger was like butter. Would love to try it at the range.

Smith & Wesson should have never got away from their 3rd Gen line of pistols. These represented the peak of their products.
They represented the time period they existed in. The world has moved beyond the steel frames and hammer fired actions.

question, can you buy the mag pads for the new mags and put them on the old magazines? I have plenty M2.0 mags.

I wholeheartedly approve of more firearms being made from metal! I am way beyond bored with plastic guns. 🔫
wouldn't a steel frame be better suited for target/tournament?
Curious why the first shot is higher than the rest of the group?? More explanation please.

When are you reviewing the smith and wesson mp 5.7 x 28. Its a lot different than the other 57 gun models on the market..
Thats still a great group for us mere mortals...
He just amazes me.
I have no problems pulling the trigger for disassembly.
I am curious have you tried at 50 yards for grouping?
Jerry is that sweatshirt you were wearing available for sale on the web ?
Nice video, Jerry. Nice look pistol.. I wish Smith&Wesson will send you a CSX pistol
This will be my Bday gift
Do they make it in .45acp?
Thanks Jerry!
Jerry for president!
Thanks Jerry. I'm looking forward to checking one out at SHOT show next month.
Hope u see this comment Jerry.
U have inspired me to train harder and so I am looking for a durable affordable platform.
Whould u still recommend this after shooting it for a year??
God bless.
What kind of 10 shot group accuracy at 50 yards can it do?
What model is the red dot !!

Thanks Jerry, but it would really help if you would test accuracy with both eyes closed. I think it would be closer to my ability.
will it work if you use the 4.25 inch barrel in the competitor make it like a comp like the sig macro?
