- Join me LIVE as we jump into one of the most anticipated GA aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the A2A Simulations Piper Comanche 250.
To test the Comanche, we’re flying in California and escaping the heat! For our 1st sector we’ll fly VFR departing from the hottest and lowest elevation airfield in North America, Furnace Creek in Death Valley (L06) to the Idyllic location of Isabella Lake and Kern Valley Airport (L05).
After a quick pit stop to refuel, we’ll be departing IFR and flying Southwest to the Californian coastal city of Santa Barbara (KSBA)

THIS STREAM IS NOT TO BE USED FOR REAL WORLD FLIGHT TRAINING
The primary purpose of this stream is to give you the opportunity to see how a Real 737 Captain operates a desktop simulated aircraft in real time using real world operating procedures.
Whilst every effort is made to accurately replicate the way the aircraft is flown based on my experience as an Airline Captain and Type Rating Instructor, this is purely for entertainment only.
If you happen to be a line pilot or training pilot you must not follow the guidance in this livestream, it is purely for non-professional computer simulated flight. Only consult your approved material from your respective operator.
Personal questions and queries regarding my employment status will not be answered.

i fly this plane in the real life (the PA24 260B injection) and I found the sim aerodynamics, performance and behavior very close to the real. Compliments A2A, Very happy to have it in my Home SIM.
Sweet! Cannot get better praise than that! Thanks for your comment!

@@flightdeck2sim please could I change the livery in the basic software or I need download some?
You know what's crazy about Furnace Creek? You're about 200 feet below sea level there, but you are only 78 miles away on a 096° radial from the summit of Mount Whitney, the highest point in the "Lower 48" US states at 14,505 ft/4421 m. Think about that for a minute: the lowest point in the entirety of the US (Badwater Basin in Death Valley, -282 feet, about 15 miles to 170° from Furnace Creek), and the highest point in the 48 contiguous states, are all of 84 miles apart.
Very interesting! It’s a terrific and incredible landscape, credit to MSFS for replicating it in excellent detail! FD2S
Great video as usual. :-) I used it today for the very first time. This is a pleasure to fly. So rewarding, if all is done correctly. And the attention to detail is astonishing, but something that we are used to with A2A.
Great stream, couldn’t catch it live but the replay is awesome. Fun little quirk: on the headphones, you can click the place where the noise canceling button is, and it actually cancels the noise (even further). Pretty neat! 🎉
Thanks for the tip! I’ll try that next time!! FD2S
Just amazing what A2A has done with the Comanche 250 . Would of really helped me in my PPL with the Archer II.
@@paulhendrick1572 Same here. I covered 500 nm of the Spanish coast yesterday in a few flights, hand flying all the time and it was totally manageable, even in strong winds and with my entry level T1600 flight pack. A2A did such a good job with the Comanche.
Bought this today.....unbelievable .. what an add on
Great video! For some further info about the autopilot, it does actually track across GPS waypoints on its own. It's recommended to use heading mode for anything but small heading changes, as allowing the AP to do larger changes on its own will make a wide & slow turn, overshooting and hunting a bit to get back on. I am not sure how much of this it talks about in the manual, but if you just try it while flying, you will see it work. Also, it is actually ILS capable, in that the HSI & CDI have working vertical glide-slope indicators. So you can program an ILS in NAV and shoot it controlling your descent rate manually.
This aircraft has been the main reason I've still being using Prepar3d - thanks so much in giving the appropriate time and advice on this remarkable add-on.
Was great to try out, brought me back to my GA days!

Thats a nice route, but also nice is to go straight west to the eastern sierras and then down the valley around the restricted with a right turn to go to Kern Valley when the mountains get lower. Flew into Kern Valley once when I was flying out of Van Nuys CA, it's a lovely airport and there was an absolutely great burger place on the field back then, no idea if its still there, this was 20 years ago :) This part of california is beautiful. Lovely flight mate, will subscribe.
What an amazing addon! It's a definite aircraft for my wishlist. Just have to convince the wife now. Haha
Great stream as always FD2S
Very nice and enjoyable, Cheers
Oye Glad I found this site and subscribed and I am deffo
getting this Comanche
I clicked into this video last night (apologies for not thumb upping at the time, AppleTV was not cooperating) looking to see some video of this new plane not realizing you were going to be flying over some of my family's former haunts, so that was fun to see. Also, it's the Kern River Valley (the river beside the little airport that empties into Lake Isabella is the Kern River) and just a few minutes north by car is Kernville. The area is a popular summer destination for folks in the surrounding area that are lower because it's often a good 10+ degrees F cooler and the massive lake has plenty of room for boating, fishing, swimming, etc. There are many vacation and permanent homes in the higher hillside elevations too.
That’s the beauty of this sim, every time I adventure somewhere usually someone who watches lives nearby and points out local facts! Love it!

For lean; you can go +50F for best power or -50F for best economy.
This plane is awesome. A great (the best in fact) GA airplane in MSFS. I don't know exactly why but she feels a bit more fluid in P3Dv5 (I own the P3D version too). Thank's a lot.
She feels much better in msfs for me
@@majoraviatior1611 likewise feelings are so different from one to another 😀
@@psour33 definetly, she felt really good for P3d, however with accu sim 2.0 and enchanted sim physics it feels like a dream
I’ve not flown GA for years and the only Piper I flew was the PA28 and PA34, this brought back a lot of memories! Superb addon.

@@flightdeck2sim Is there anything else in the sim that flies so damn good ? I don't feel like flying anything else really. No point when you know the flight modeling is off
You should try the Cessna 414 as well.. Really good addon :)
When setting the directional gyro you also want to check the compass correction card (Just below the wet compass) and apply any wet compass error to the directional gyro.
?? That's the magnetic deviation card. When you reset it periodically theres no point in applying the figure mechanically since if you change direction by even 30* during this time the dev changes. You would just do it in your head, like in the real world.
Plus MSFS does not feature/support mag dev.
@@sirbarringtonwomblembe4098 In the real world you would apply the deviation correction for a number of reasons. The directional gyro will drift due to mechanical drift (friction) and apparent drift , caused by flying over a rotating earth. The pilot is always making an adjustment to the directional gyro every 10 - 15 minutes due to these disturbances. If the pilot has an auto pilot operating he or she will be sure to keep the directional gyro corrected. Shooting an ILS approach? The CDI needle swing from center fully to one side is just 2.5 degrees.
@@lpappas474As a former Merchant Navy Navigation Officer, I know these things.
I didn't know if you understood the concepts, but I see now that you do. Cheers.
@@sirbarringtonwomblembe4098 I used to fly for a living.
have to agree that the plane is VERY difficult to slow down in a descent ..
I got some great feedback during the stream and from a member who flies the PA24!
To avoid shock cooling after being in the cruise for a while you want to reduce power no lower than 15-18” and plan usually to do a cruise power-on descent at 500fpm, monitor the MP as you descend as the outside pressure increases, bring the power back slowly to slow down once you're approaching the field at circuit height, and then fine to idle on base as required. He also added no sense chopping and dropping, you paid for the potential energy, may as well turn it back into kinetic and fly a bit faster on the descent!

ATC: Please expedite your descent to 5,000ft
Pilot: *induces a spin and loses 4,000ft in 30 seconds*
ATC: :O
I am not sure what's happening with mine but I cannot get it to turn over to start. It used to work. I even tried control. E and still nothing
Can i please ask what app you are using if not built in to the sim. at top of screen in cockpit view to monitor your heading, height, speed and so on if that's ok.
It’s called FlyLive, an overlay which you can add to streamlabs (cannot actually see it on screen)
@@flightdeck2sim Thank you for your reply. Will take a look.
Is there a way to add a different GPS to this bird other than the Tablet options? The 530/430 is like I was sent back to 1998, lol. Id prefer the GTS750, lol.
There sure is!

Cool video mate its great to see finally aGA addon for MSFS that gets to the level of the XP12 REP packs or the X-Aviation GA stuff.
The Como flies great and excellent in a crosswind with very true to life handling.
A lot of users seem to think this product is unique in its capability while this may be true in MSFS there are numerous addons with similar capability in XP and P3D like their awesome V tail Bonanza.
Great to see A2A showing msfs users what a “great” addon is and things you cant see are as important as what you can in a simulation.
Finally a GA aircraft worth flying in MSFS.
One of if not the best GA aircraft I’ve flown in any sim, not only does it only fly great, the sounds are exceptional.
FD2S
The Nav 2 identifier may be a bug. I couldn’t get it to work 2 days ago either. It was tracking the VOR, showed the DME, ETA…., but it wouldn’t identify at all.
Couldn’t hear the Morse either, NAV 1 is there but very quiet, even with the volume turned up!
FD2S
@@flightdeck2simagreed. I think a little tweak needs to be made there. But all in all, this plane is epic, and really well done.
@flightdeck2sim I found out how to control the identifier on the nav 2 radio. You have to pull out the volume knob, which is assigned as a tertiary click in the sim. Kind of a pain in the neck, but that’s the deal. Not a bug, just a simism.
Please SLOW down your speaking, Love your program
Perfect video, but the inclinometer is not working, the ball almost glued to the center even if you try to apply full rudder right or left. Also manifold pressure dropped to 12 inches while you descend, it doesn’t happen in real life unless you have an ice in it, which almost never happens with Comanche. these two features are the key, but somehow not implemented by a2a correctly
I noticed that perhaps Rudder control was set to Auto. I may have missed it but I missed reference to Trim ...
It's difficult trying to do these type of Reviews. Pete.
What does it mean when your meter is flashing REM❓
Fuel REMaining; it flashes red after it gets down to 10.0 - if you've allowed for 4G unusable fuel as weight instead of gallons = 1hr economy cruise left till tits up!
@@sirbarringtonwomblembe4098 thank you sir👍🏾
Variation West = Magnetic Best. Deviation West = Compass Best.
Better to say ..... Dev East Comp Least, to contrast the 2 phrases.
You lock the primer with a right click
Thank you!

FD2Sim, can I get a 737-800 into sumburgh? 4900ft runway
Cargo, I may add
Edit: the answer is, yes!
Sumburgh? Completed it mate.

“Half seven in the morning” are you German?
Errrmm, no 🤷♂
Seems like a waste of $$$ to dump the gas on the ground after checking it, not to mention environmentally unfriendly.
Do pilots actually do this or do they poor the fuel back in the tank if it's still in good condition?
How do you pull the piper with the rod or discs? How do you control it?
