I honestly don't know how you people can stand living in this concrete jungle of a city. I live in a small city in Canada with parks and nature in every direction. I find NYC depressing.
Better opportunities in New York I can do what you do but make way more way more fun activities nobody wants to look at nature all day unless you a boomer
lol Cash's definition of 'organic planet based' makes sense to me. and you definitely know Charles does watch Cash's video and does a perfect Cash roasting lol.
I have to admit that these NYC videos are really enlightening. Frankly, I thought that bathtubs came in one size, unless it's something like a claw tub or a jetted tub. It is crazy that they make bathtubs half the size of what most people consider as standard.
Cash and Charles you two are so funny together, I love it!! Great video...I like the apartments their bright and with a nice big space in each of the living rooms.
The first two apartments have a "huge" living area (by NYC standards), and though I don't think a Jack and Jill bathroom works for everybody, these places are sharable. But how far away is the subway? The last one is intriguing, but not cheap for a one-bedroom. That "private" access could be a benefit so long as it has secure locks. There's a good reason why windowless basement bedrooms are illegal: people have died when trapped in them by fire or flooding. But it makes a good living room, leaving plenty of space upstairs for a large rolling island and a kitchen table.
Downstairs could be used to house a small business. Maybe 2 or 3 people coding. Just put a lock on the upstairs bedroom and use the living room/kitchen as a staffroom during the day.
@@robertwhough Because commonly, every bedroom/living/rec (rare cases since most are closed like this video) etc has big windows either for sunlight and the afront mentioned "egress window" if the doors are blocked but the bathroom since is the most private place of a house/apartment, it doesnt have the windows. Is a matter of privacy or security, you either have every single room with big windows for emergencies but sacrifice the privacy and need big curtains & running the risk of break-ins or have small windows where barely people can look inside and at least for sunlight but you cant fit in them and run the risk of being trapped in your own house/apt in the case of a flood or fire.
It’s overpriced, overrated, and overpopulated. I’m a born and raised Brooklynite. The city isn’t fun and exciting anymore. Gentrification changed everything.
I’d remove those tiles from the fireplace to put an electric flame inside. Many of them look fairly convincing (or at least cool) these days. Also, provided you don’t have a lot of craziness on the street and are a solid sleeper, first floor apartments in Manhattan can be great to live in. Visually, often much more interesting than higher floors. i.e. - You see people rather then only windows!
Wow . $3,700 for a crappy basement apartment is a 3-4 bed house in NJ is a million dollar home in Georgia is a few hundred acres and a nice house in Alaska
That first place is actually NICE. Tons of light, clean, nice hardwood floors, decent sized bedrooms/closets by NYC standards, HUGE living room by any apartment standards. Kitchen has enough counter space to where I could actually cook in there without getting irritated. None of the windows face the street so it SHOULD be quiet, building has an elevator. Unless there is some huge catch with the location(ie next door to the projects) its a total winner. Even if you do have to walk 15-20 minutes to the subway(hey save on gym membership lol)
Hmm... They're not the best value (IMHO) that come from a Charles listing, but far from the worst. I just don't like such smallish bedrooms adjacent to each other--especially, when considering adult inhabitants. I'd be uncomfortable having an evening guest over. Also, I thought the first two units were on the expensive side ($4200-$4300/month) for what you get, but then again, it's midtown. I preferred the third unit that is estimated at $3700/month. That is perfect for a roommate situation. Two full bathrooms and bedroom separation. The only drawback there was that cavernous alleyway (snow and rain blockage--potential flooding?) and the rat traps which signal a rodent issue for me.
IMHO I wasn't really impressed with any of them. Usually with a Charles collaboration I can find at least 1 that I like. Guess 2day was just an off day
@@MamaCarola1 Well... he can't hit the mark every time AND (while very few) I recall much worse from Charles. All of the units--especially the first 2, had a degree of character with them but for the money being asked, I was not feeling the value.
Those 1st 2 apartments, why did they hade to ruin the fireplaces with those bricks? That just made them look cheap. & that elevator was definitely 1 of the smallest ice ever seen in a building. Definitely not moving furniture in that. Not a fan of the jack & Jill bathroom unless it's between 2 kids rooms. ❤I actually think the 2nd is better than the 1st. I was thinking that the 3rd might have some potential but that outdoor area is a nope for me. Why do I think that outdoor passage is where they take the garbage thru? Usually Charles has assume great places. For me all 3 were misses 2day
I agree with you about the fireplaces. If you're going to "brick-up" a fireplace, then use bricks! That tiled fireplace was awful. Yep, that elevator was small but at least there was an elevator. We've seen numerous places that were on the 4th-7th floor levels without an elevator in sight. Try moving furniture in that condition!
@@sinash right? You know movers charge extra for that. I rented a place once (a "luxury " apartment that would have been a slum on Park Avenue) & found out AFTER signing a lease that the elevator would be out at least 6 weeks & I lived on the top floor. Super made a deal with me that I could have 1/2 a month rent free the next month or $300 towards the movers. Guess which 1 I took lol. & STILL had to fight with the office the next month. I won bcuz the super was their agent basically & since he made the deal...
@@sinash & also about the fireplace, I think it would have been more appealing if the interior was at least painted black & you could put some fake logs in it to give the appearance of it working. Just a thought
@@MamaCarola1 You have that option, or it could encase a large/huge plant--real or fake... although fake is an anathema! There are a few things that could have been done which would have made it much more aesthetically pleasing rather than just tiling it over with kitchen/bathroom tile. Which reminds me of something else... that BEAUTIFUL, PRISTINE, white bathroom and Cash jumps into the bathtub with his dirty shoes on. Ugh... that and his slamming of appliances gets to me every time!
The comedy twins are at it again. One is very quiet and careful and the other is Cash - lol! #1 & #2 are OK if you are a fan of Jack & Jill bathrooms which I am not. Many years in a Chicago hotel my friend & I shared a J&J bathroom and I forgot to lock the other door!!!!!!!!! #3 is far too creepy and at street level plus I don't recall seeing any laundry facilities. Kitchen is not practical.
That stretch of Lexington Avenue is really one of the few places where you find a bunch of small quirky stores on the upper East Side. First Ave like in the 80's and 90s is similar.
