    It sounds like good old Gibson jazz guitar! If I closed my eyes, I could not tell.

    Banjo sounds like a jazz box when you play strictly jazz inversions and straight jazz licks on it.

    Bro, thank you do much for this video. You sound amazing, just like your unique instrument does.
    I am a viola player but Im looking for a single strung mandola to accompany myself for my own youtube videos as well as gigging. Is it possible to purchase an instrument like this anywhere?
    It has to be electric-acoustic (or just acoustic!) and it has to be tuned cgda like a viola, single string.
    I have experimented with a concert uke tuned in 5th but.. it had some intonation problems since the frets and strings were not designed for 5ths (or maybe it was just a bad quality instrument/strings).
    I would appreciate any advice!

      Honestly, if you like this instrument you should reach out to Jim Triggs of Triggs Guitars online! He may be taking orders. The only thing is this instrument is not acoustic :( I know what you mean about the intonation of the uke.. my dad did that with a tenor uke and it worked okay. I don’t know of another builder that’s doing single string acoustic mandolas. Cheers

    Does Jim have any plans to build more? Might have to make the plunge into electric mando for that!

      Last I heard one of my students had ordered one. But I don’t know where they are with all that… that was a couple years ago. I encourage you to reach out to Jim and inquire about it!

    How does this instrument differ from my Gibson ETG 150 electric tenor guitar?

    • @isaaceichermandolin
      @isaaceichermandolin  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Triggs has a much shorter scale length, a thinner body and a different body shape.

      @@isaaceichermandolin But the tuning and the basic jazz archtop electronics are the same, correct?

    Beginner mandolin player here. Doesn't a mandolin supposed to have 8 strings? This seems like it has 4

      Electric mandolins can be “single-string.” And this instrument is a single-string electric mandola.

    It has the punch of a Gibson L5 but with an underdone of a baritone guitar

    I need to stop watching this video and tell myself that I don’t need another instrument.
