Thanks for the video. I could use some advice: I switched out the orifice to make my sr400 a propane heater but I don’t get ignition UNLESS I reduce the airflow at the intake. If I cup my hand over it and restrict about 50 percent of the flow the burner will light but extinguish if I remove my hand. I cannot find any info on what kind of propane tank to use, so I had been using our BBQ 20 pound tank until we decide whether or not it’s worth it to get a larger one. Do you think this is not supplying enough pressure? I bought a high flow regulator but when I increase the psi beyond even 1, the control valve makes a fast clicking sound and doesn’t release any gas. It does release gas effortlessly with the small typical bbq regulator. Also my manometer reads 9 and only drops to 4.5 when the control valve opens, so it would seem there is too much air to gas ratio? So many questions! Lol
Dave. i have a Star-brite 333 . 2 years old . getting an error message E05. it starts up runs 2 min then shuts. says service heater. my pool guy says it needs parts. dont believe him. helppp. thanks

My heater works but it makes a loud bassy reverberating sound between the houses. Its like a loud low "wah wah wah wah" and goes though the walls like a car with a sound system. It's probably in the 40-80 Hz range, but not tinny or trebly. Any ideas?
Mine looks the same but thermostat is not working is showing 103 degrees and it is 80 outside . Where is the theramotat located and where can I buy one to replace it ?

Maybe insight of what maybe common RELATED to the heater that may go bad or cause issues? I'm sure its in a link someplace, right?

I did not hear the ignitor click and after about 1 minute it lit up the "service heater" light, but before it did, it said heating with the temp being displayed, and it was blowing cold air (instead of hot) out the exhaust vent. It runs for about 20 minutes or so to about 90 and then cuts off. It’s hard to get it to start. Can a pool guy adjust the propane or is that a propane company’s job? I don’t want to mess up my warranty. Thanks!

I have water leaking out of my blower pouring out of the Air Orifice. Max-E-Therma 333. Any suggestions? I haven't used the heater in months. It's August In Louisiana... Started losing water this week in pool and noticed it.
We have a new heater that is a exact replacement of this model. When the heater fires up it runs for 10 seconds make some noise then water pipes shake and burner kicks off.
Exact same issue here. Just hooked it up for the new season & getting the same thing. Loud noise & violent shaking after about 10 secods of heat & heat rose very fast & heater shut off by itself. ??? Were you able to find out what the issue was? Seems like some air may be trapped or maybe blockage or something but I get good flow in & out of heater & into the pool so I'm baffled. I unscrewed the small bleeder (?) / drain plug to see if that helped while the pump was on (heater off) & just got a lot of water out with no change after a second attempt to turn heater back on. I shut off the heater fearing it would break but maybe I should let it run like this for a bit more to clear itself out?? Don't want to cause more damage though. I always plug the inlet & outlet holes when I store it for the winter so I don't think anything got in it? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I removed the casing and the top panel to get to the boardh. The service light that was on was PS. which i found out was the pressure switch. what would I need to fix this? I cleaned out my filter today and pressure and flow everywhere seems solid. The heater hasn't worked in some time. It turns on just fine but has the service light on. Any suggestions?
Thanks Brother! You saved me a ton of money!!! Followed your steps and The "PS" was lit which told me it was The Water Pressure Switch that was bad! Headed up to my local pool store and picked up a new switch, installed it and bang, heater fired right up!!! Thanks again

Thank you my heater would not go on. I had not cleaned my filter in a year. Cleaned it and now the heater is working like a champ!!!

Thanks, we had added an ion filter to the basket causing a flow issue even though our pressure was good. Removed it and heater worked fine.

Sounds like you need to replace the thermistor. Let me look in our book tomorrow and I can get you a part number. It should be a simple, cheap fix.
