- Duane gets his cab lifted and we work on the 3406 A model Caterpillar engine. We replaced the necessary components at the moment. Truck hasn't been started in 10 years plus. Got the truck running but a few more items revealed themselves. So, stay tuned for those repairs. Like, shar, subscribe and as always thanks for watching and all the support.

That’s awesome!
It is always a good to release the clutch so the starter does not have to work so hard. But many people don`t consider the starter solenoid. If the starter cranks slow it is not bad. But corrosion in the solenoid robs a lot of cranking amps. I have been through on engines that have sat for many years. I change the solenoid and the engine cranks fast enough to start. Without starting fluid.
That a.nice.100
Thank you, the more we work on it we are noticing how clean it really can be.
Hitr with some go go juice boys
The old boy definitely got some starting aid up the nose to wake it up, he’s running real good now!
and i thought block and tackle was a strange name
That’s a nice old KW let’s get her fixed up
It really is turning out to be a nice truck, just needs a good cleaning done on it!!!
Come on man jack the cab all of the way up so you can get in there and go to working on that engine don't be scared it can only go do far
This is true, we did take it as far as the safety stops this time. Didn’t need to go to much farther.
You can get all those fuel lines already made to size with the fittings on them from cat just need the engine serial & arrangement number replaced all of mine on my A model cat is that engine a pre cup motor or direct injection ?
Not sure, I’m no mechanic but do like to learn. What makes the difference from one to the other?
@@CLGarage my engine is a pre combustion A model it has glow plugs and a pre heat switch like the old cat machines had and have to pre heat to start were the direct engines don’t you can convert the pre cup engine to a direct injection but you have to change the head and the pump
@@pcap2700 And a whole lot more.
It started. Leaking fuel? Might be leaking a tiny bit of air too. 😁
Yeah, leaking some fuel and air for sure. The farther we went with it the more fuel lines we found of course that were bad! Fuel lines are easy though, thankfully
If you give me your full engine serial number. I can tell you the arrangement number, HP, year engine was made. These 3406 92U prefix, now called A models, was PCT, PCTA, DIT, DITA. Looks like you have a DITA. You can buy the fuel lines from Cat, or get them made locally, they are just a number six line. Or you can buy the hose, take the reusable ends off and make them yourself. Hose on the left could be a 9L5158. The hose on the right could be a 7N2084. The 92U engines was made from 1973 to 1986.
Absolutely, I can get that number on Monday. I did end up making the lines and reusing the ends just like you mentioned, and that worked out well. The line is the cheap part for sure so reusing the ends if possible definitely saves money.

Sorry it took me till Wednesday but here is the Engine serial number 92u35735
@@CLGarage replied twice and it is gone
@@CLGarage Built 5-29-1980, Sales date 10-6-1980, Arrangement number 9N5523, Left the factory as a 380 HP @ 2100 RPM's.
Seems like all the usual culprits need attending to: Filters, poor hoses, you should know the score by now. Engine made no awful sounds. You may have landed on your feet again.
I would agree, I was pretty excited when it started! It’s nerve racking for sure to buy something that hasn’t run in a long time. But of course they were always running before they were parked. LOL
