    No idea how you showed up in my recommended videos but I drive by your place twice per week. I’m always wondering what’s going on there. Every couple weeks I see new additions. I’ll have to binge watch and catch up. Love old iron.

    That red one is older than the other. You can tell by the new style Freightliner Rocker(equalizersI on the rear. You can see where they got tired of cutting their head on that bottom step they removed on the one side(ask me how I know, haha) They will be positive ground also, unless they have been changed over. Watch before you hit them with one of those powerful jumper packs. Bill

    • @danielhofer7386
      @danielhofer7386 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They just change the equalizer to the newer 1975 style. 1975 models would have had the newer door handle, blue truck is also the wider cab, look at the grills, dead give away.

      @@billtodd6509 We had one 1971, three 1973's & one 1971 WFT cabovers all were the narrow cab, Detroit power. Did you truck have single exhaust & was it mounted on the left side Not the right side that was a dead give away the truck had a 1693Cat in it.

    • @billtodd6509
      @billtodd6509 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@danielhofer7386 No, I had mine built with dual exhaust and two vertical air breathers. I flew out to Portland and got to watch it being built. Freightliner really catered to the owner operator back then. I did see a line of Carolina Freight trucks waiting to be decked and they had 325 hp 1693 cats and had exhaust up the left side. I hauled a decked glider kit back to the dealer in pa.

      Back then the Portland trucks were far better than their trucks built in Indiana

    Clean them both. With any luck Alice's deficiencies may be largely superficial, or they both will be suffering from the same ailmentsL Do them both because of different engines, lights, steps, etc, and you have titles for both. You are so skilled you can do it!

    Both White Freightliners are awesome. Restore both of them. 8v71 could be rebuilt and swapped for a CAT. More Pete's and KWs along with diamond reos, brockway marmon and Chevrolet and gmc. Great videos and great content you all.

    Couple more Frightliners. Looks like the red one was upgraded with a roof vent off of an RV. Cheap, but I guess effective. A shot of Fix-A-Flat will fix that driver's side front tire on the blue one... right? 😄

    • @CLGarage
      @CLGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The roof vent sure is classy!! I wonder how many cans of the fix a flat it would take cause that wasn’t the only tire that looks that way.

    surprised those 2 little chains picked up those trucks WOW
    cant tell if they have engines but still would be front heavy
    that Green mattress is minty 😁
    Kenneth is the same red under the blue/ white ?

    • @CLGarage
      @CLGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had faith in the chains, slow movements and smooth operating to keep things safe. The trucks do have engines in them and it was tricky keeping them balanced, the red more than the blue.

  • @danielhofer7386
    @danielhofer7386 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The Blue truck has a 1975 rear equalizer on its rear suspension. One can tell by the paint on frame they had changed it from the style like the red truck. the blue truck is the wider cab than the red truck. dead give away is the grills.

    Both are 74’s, but yet one has the ladder type steps, the blue one has the bent rod type steps. My dad’s was a 74 like the blue one. Do you know if there was a designation difference or just a mid year design change? I don’t know. I saw another channel that claimed a 74 yet it had the ladder type step and it confused me. Just looking for clarification if you can.

    • @billtodd6509
      @billtodd6509 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You could get the ladder type step as an option starting in 1970. they also still used the tubular loop step above the tire for a couple more years until they started making a cutout in the panel below the door. Dual headlights were an option on those old Freightliners. Vent doors were even an OPTION. Bill

      I personally like the dual headlight look over the single. I have seen some late 80’s Freightliners still with the single headlight setup.
