    Olds had front wheel drive before Buick. 1966 Toronado!!! My grandmother owned two. "Oldsmobile, Always A Step Ahead."

    I've been daily driving an 81 Riv for 5 years now. People love to see it, it is quite beautiful still.
    I feel the same way. It's just an outdated car, starting to rust. Very cheap to run and maintain, also cheapest insurance out of any make. But it has brought me a ton of joy over the years, and never let me down.
    This year I need to fix the window motors and heater core. 5 years without any real issues. Just about to roll over 100 000 km 🥳

      For the time it was an elite luxury coupe… this was when America was the king of luxury cars and the options were super for time…. you can’t compare it to todays cars!
      Remember it wasn’t a Lexus, Infiniti, Acura and MOST people were not buying Mercedes’ or BMW(Maserati and Audi wasn’t a thought for most) .. it was Caddy, Buick, Chrysler, Oldsmobile etc
      Let’s start making videos with the context of the time…
      With all that said… I love your Riviera..! I had one and it was special! & I just bought a 1977 Riviera & looking to buy a convertible.

    Sweet!!! My mother actually had a 1981 Buick Riviera back in the 1980s!! Hers was all black with a red interior, complete with a red pinstripe on each side! It was that very car that made my mother look like a billionaire! Overall, great review!

    Very fun video! I am currently restoring an 81 myself. Putting new spark plugs, fuel filter, oil change as a start. Then I'm getting new tires/brakes. Eventually I''l need to replace the antenna motor, the gas gauge, and the bumper fillers. It'll fill my time this summer

      Glad you enjoyed! Best of luck on your '81 - Casey sold this one recently to make way for some new projects. We're glad he could share it with us and y'all.

    One of best selling rivieras of all time.79-80 model came with 5.7 v8 350 olds.The 85 could be had with 3.8 sfi turbo engine same as pre intercooled grand nationals.

    just got one of these! Brakes are VERY soft. Is that normal? Pedal goes right into the floor to stop the car. I know this is kind of par for the course with 80s yachts

    • @OutMotorsports
      @OutMotorsports  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Old GM brakes have always been kinda soft but the pedal going all the way to the floor is not normal. Check hard brake lines for rust, replace your soft brake lines ASAP, and get fresh brake fluid in the car. If you still have a soft pedal after that, it may need a master cylinder (check this by trying to "pump up" the pedal and get more firmness)

      @@OutMotorsports yeah I did exaggerate but I mean there's just a lot of travel on the pedal. I have already had one serious master cylinder scare and I do NOT want another one. Going in for brakes ASAP!

      Hydro-boost? My 1982 has it and the pedal is soft until the power steering pumps up the booster.
