- Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel! Over the last 4 years, I’ve been lucky enough to visit the Caribbean Island of St. Thomas, 4 times. So with those trips under my belt I felt it was finally time to make a much requested Top 10 video of things to do in St. Thomas! Despite Covid 19, you can still travel to the Virgin Islands, just make sure to provide a negative covid test. But okay guys, without further ado, let’s jump into my top 10 list!
I'm so grateful that we are able/allowed to travel to the Caribbean. It's a great getaway, and the flight is only 3 hours. I'm excited to hear what you guys think about today's episode, let me know in the comments below! :)
COVID-19 RELATED: Disclaimer: We traveled to St. Thomas in December/January 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic. This meant that we all needed a negative covid test before entering the island. But the rules change all the time, so please do your own research before traveling.

I visited US VI last week nd i fell like i am in paradise.sorrounded by beautiful beaches nd the land structure has houses on small hills.The local shops are full of art and cultural values. Its amazing place to visit all. Megan bay, mahoi bay,trunk bay,cocci beach are my favourites over all.

Also nice to have a place to go back to where everything works, fast wifi etc haha 😂 But yes, I would love to live in the Philippines for a bit too, best sunsets in the world. But who knows, maybe one day!

We just back from our honeymoon there yesterday. We had such and awesome time. We visited 5 beaches and traveled to The Mountain Top. Most beautiful beaches and stunning views.

How was it with Covid? I am looking at booking but I am concerned about the local restaurants being open. I love venturing outside the hotel and going to the restaurants and I want to have a semi-normal experience

We just got back from St thomas. Couple things to be mindful of. 1. If you rent a car from Avis, you will wait at least 2 hours on it when you arrive. Doesn’t matter how long ago you reserved it. 2. Groceries are VERY expensive, if you can check a bag packed with non perishable food , it will save you money. 3. Restaurants suck. Over priced and food is not that great. 4. People drive like maniacs, be careful. 5. Be mindful that power and water are precious. The lady that we rented from made it clear that if we are not using it to please turn it off. That’s just the stuff that caught us off gaurd. The beaches and our resort were great. We will go back one day.

1. I can’t speak about Avis, never rented from them. We’ve been there 4 times, and never had any trouble renting cars, it was always very seamless.
2. I agree, groceries are expensive.
3. I do not think all the restaurants suck, I think some of them are great! But if you go to the more touristy ones, they will of course be more expensive.
4.I can’t say they all drive like maniacs, I would rather say the roads can be pretty scary and bumpy sometimes, so yes, you should be experienced, which I state in my video too.
5. Agree, I try to practice this regardless of where I am though, you should never waste water or power.
But to sum it up, I think I state in all my videos that St. Thomas is def not a cheap travel destination. I'm used to traveling in South East Asia, and coming to St. Thomas was def a 360 when it came to budget.
But again I hope overall your trip was great!

Thank you so much! You will have the best time, I celebrated my bday there last August, and it was such a good vibe! And yes, I also heard someone who flew American Airlines said they needed a negative covid test 3 days before instead of 5 days before. So make sure to double check, the rules change all the time! 🤩

@@CamillaJohannesen 4 days, I’m very nervous just because I never travel but this is a much needed trip. Do they have zip lining too? I’m sure 4 days won’t be enough to even do a lot but hopefully this can be an every year trip
@@syedraza6314 OMG!!!! It was amazing!!! I would definitely not rent a car because the roads are very steep and narrow, just carry cash for the taxis which are like $6 to $8 and use your credit cards for everything else. We stayed at the Mafolie hotel which had an amazing view and staff was awesome. Meghans bay beach is a must and try to go to the other beaches on St. John, those are all beautiful beaches. The beaches were not crowed at all which was great!

What are the best spots to snorkel from the beach in St. Thomas?
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! Means a lot ❤️ I would say on St. Thomas def Coki beach, when you swim out closer to the dome, a lot of sea-life there! Then for St. John, I would say Trunks Bay and Cinnamon Bay. Trunks Bay has a trail underwater you can follow, really cool. But be careful with the under current in all these places. Good luck!

Thank you for this lovely video. We've been 4 times so far and yes I agree with your reviews. Speaking about places to eat, have you tried Gladys' on St. Thomas? It's in a little walkway near the bank in Charlotte Amalie. It is highly recommended by Fodors and we ate breakfast and lunch there everyday. It's delish home cooking. I don't know if Glady's is still there, hope so. Again, thanks we're heading back soon.

Right about the cabs just ridiculous. Renting a jeep costs around 800 but you can take it to St. John. And it’s much easier to get around even when the cabs basically stop running after 9. St John is way nicer and the snorkeling at trunk bay is awesome as you said. Big ups to lady rainbow for braids. Take the sunset cruise or rent a yacht if you have the coin . We’re going back in a week to be baptized by the waters of these saintly islands waters😀can’t wait.

Camilla Johannesen I have been debating on whether to rent a car or lot. I plan on beach bumming most of the time and I am staying in red hook. I wonder if it’s worth the price or if I can walk/ taxi most of the time

Hi Regina! Thank you so much for watching todays video 🤗 I'm so happy for you guys, you will love it! Such a beautiful place. So with the restaurants it's a bit hit or miss when it comes to if they are busy or not. But in our experience this time around, because of covid they are more limited with spaces, so we usually made reservations. You def need to make reservations for the nicer places like Prime, Lanai, Denton's steakhouse etc. I would make a reservation just to be safe 🙏🏻 I think the restaurant guide will be live next Sunday! 🤩🤩

You forgot watermelon cay. It’s a small island in St.John that you have to either hike to the beach(.8-1.0ML) or you can swim/snorkel to right from the parking lot (be carful though bc it’s rocky) . You can see all the star fish on the 30-40ft ocean floor, barracuda swimming after schools of fish and some of the most astonishingly beautiful murmurations of the native fish. Highly recommend snorkeling out there!

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words, means a lot ❤️ It is true, they do sell out fast! We were a bit late with our reservation, we tried booking a few days before we got there, but had no luck, we kept calling places when we got there. And on day 2 we got lucky and went to the place and rented the car. If you want my latest travel guide, you will see I talk about renting in advance. But sometimes that is not even helpful and they give out your booking anyways, so don’t trust it 100%. I would join the St. Thomas Travel Facebook group and ask there, they have tons of good info!

Recently , I had the pleasure of visiting St Thomas. Years ago I was on Amelie beach with a cruise ship . I will ever forget that day!
When I was in StThomas in March this year , I bought a baseball cap for the 8 year old daughter of a friend . She loved her cap.
Unfortunately she left the cap on a local beach which left her in tears. She is devastated. You may have guessed where this is going. If I sent you the money plus postage would you consider purchasing another cap and sending it to me.? You would be making a kid so happy ! The colour was a pale red/ pink .

Would you recommend finding a hotel in St. Thomas or St. John? Also, is it more convenient to rent a car once we are there or should we do it through a traveling agent?

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch it, and I'm happy you found it helpful! 🤗 It totally depends what you want, St. Thomas is more developed and has more to offer, like restaurants hotels etc. St. John is more quiet and secluded but so beautiful. We have always stayed in an Airbnb on St. Thomas, and we love it. And yes, we have also rented a car when we get there. Sometimes they don’t honor your booking, so we just found it easier to rent when we get there. You should watch my Travel Guide to St. Thomas, a lot of useful info there. Hi Matthew! Thanks for watching my video and appreciating the quality! 📸 I use a few different cameras for this, but mostly film on my DSLR Canon T6i with a wide angle lense, then I use the Canon g7x mark ll for more of the night filming, and then my go pro and drone for the rest 😎

For the ferry is it $60 both ways or just one? I’m going with some friends in April 🤗🤗🤗 so excited
Also, be careful with taking the last ferry back home. Sometimes they are too full and you have to wait for a long time. We have always been fine, but heard some people wait for hours when they count on getting the latest ferry back home. Just something to keep in mind, but also wing it, see how many people are on the ferry there etc, and ask the people working on thee ferry if they will be busy etc. You will be fine, and you have to make it to St. John, heaven on earth!

I've been to several Caribbean Island but never USVI. However, to celebrate graduating from nursing school, I'm looking at USVI. Where should I stay if I go to STT? I will be by myself so somewhere that's solo traveler friendly.

Hi Tania! Thanks for watching 🤗 Unfortunately I can’t answer that, because I don’t have enough knowledge about the unsafe areas. But I know there is crime in some areas of St. Thomas, I would just google it, and use common sense. Not wandering around in scary looking neighborhoods at night etc.

Hi Jovanni! We’ve stayed at Airbnb's 90% of our time there and always loved it. The grocery stores are a bit expensive in my opinion. I would eat out!

Do you have to upload in portal in the five days and bring a hard copy with you? Do you also wait to hear back from someone after you upload results in portal? But yes, you have to provide a negative covid test, not older than 5 days. You show the result to the people at the airport in St. Thomas. I've heard different things regarding that. We did not upload to the portal, but filled out the papers at the airport when we landed in St. Thomas. But to be on the safe side you should probably upload to the portal and bring a hard copy, though we never did. And a State ID should be fine, or passport if you are not American. Not sure about birth certificate, you should google that. Good luck!

Thank you so much! Glad you found it helpful 🤗 So, sometimes our friend book the car before we get there, and other times, we rent on the spot like you saw in the video. We just went there and rented the car. But if you join thee St. Thomas travel Facebook group, a lot of people are asking the same questions there! And some are saying they are having a hard time renting a car depending on the season and how many people are visiting the island etc. Hope that was helpful!
