The most loyal Apple customers probably have an iPad that already has a USB-C Cable, new Apple customers come from an Android phone that has a USB-C cable or at least any other accessory that comes with it. At this point, I’d be surprised to meet someone who doesn’t have at least one USB-C cable at home

So I'm cutting the cord finally and am thinking about trying TH-camTV. Unfortunately I have a 2015 model Samsung TV that doesn't support the TH-camTV app, so I need a streaming device. Since I have many other iOS and MacOS devices, Apple TV seems the logical choice for me. Would I be able to get the TH-cam TV app on this? And also, if I don't plan to use an ethernet connection, is there any reason to go with the 128 gb instead of 64? Thanks for your help!

2022 4k was much less buggy when using airplays volume controls ported quicker to AirPlay speakers while on my 2021 ATV 4K, it was laggy and still controlled the hdmi volume output even though I disable audio to the tv.
I like using Apple Music with this, it has Dolby Atmos and being able to use my Ps4 controller with games. I had the old Apple TV with the optical port as I had older equipment, however that is not an issue as most TVs have an Optical out so I can use that instead and apps that have Dolby Atmos will have 5.1 with older AV equipment.

The picture and tone quality is selected by the Apple TV 4K Box automatically to what the connected TV set is capable of, if set up is correctly chosen. If you select HDR 4K resolution, but you only have an HD TV set, the picture will look terrible. You need to select SDR 1080p and toggle the match picture option on.

The price difference, at least to my eyes, literally only reflects the lack of a charging cable for the remote, and the savings on the bill of materials for fan, plastics, packaging. Unless you previously owned a product that charges with USB-C, the $20 cable you’ll likely purchase at time of sale will bring it to $149/$169… no real savings if you don’t own a recent MacBook, iPad or other Type C device 😅
Apple is known for overcharging for maximum profit. Who cares about them? If you have money to burn, support them, otherwise, I am not keeping up with their updates. Nvidia shield pro beats them with the exception of HDR10+.

Just got my first Apple TV today. My Firestick wasn’t cutting it anymore. Picture looks better on Apple TV. The remote seems overly sensitive, but I probably have to get used to it.
Love the apple TV, but setup is annoying when you don't have an iPhone and you cant get rid of the complete setup message. I have to check my iMac to get the code. I prefer my Zfold 4 for my cell and have not found a way around it sending the setup code to my Mac.

Airplay connect was glitchy on the 2021. Volume controls didn’t port over from the hdmi monitor out to my airplay speakers. With the 2022 4K, there is no such issue

You have an app that can only play Apple TV shows and movies this device is its own device. Runs tvOS, can install apps from App Store too. Ofcourse it includes the Apple TV app that you have.

I recently read that when streaming apps on a current Apple TV load to the new model the login credentials are not ported over, meaning you have to locate user names and passwords to set them up manually. Is this true? I would have thought if both devices are on iCloud and passwords are saved in the password manger this would be seamless. Is this not the case?
You always have to sign in to the different apps/providers, even when you set up a new iPhone. It is for obvious security reasons. When setting up your new Apple TV, you can use your iPhone and the password manager. You’re prompted on the Apple TV screen to use your iPhone and Face ID
I ended up buying a Fire stick 4K because it was on sale. I own both previous Apple TV 4K models. I’ll buy this one eventually but I don’t see a reason to upgrade.

Apple needs to add support for simultaneous outputs. Currently they support only output via bluetooth or hdmi, not both. I have a use case when grandparents want to watch tv with the family and they need their own headphone and volume control while the rest of the family listens via the home theater system. I do this now with a separate headphone output, but it would be great if added as an option via appletv.
How are they going to make the change to the remote for USB-C and not add "find my" to the little remote? Anyone with kids who lose the remote would appreciate that. Actually, it is activated. Just open the remote on your iPhone and tap on Find My! Then your iPhone is guiding you to the location of your remote. Or use your regular TV remote with ARC/eARC. Easy

The Apple TV allows different user profiles, so yes. Family members can all control the Apple TV box with their individual iPhones, while logged into their individual profile. All at once: no!
Not sure this one makes sense monetarily as you can now get the last gen for $100 with 32gb and Ethernet/wifi. The A12 is plenty fast for what the Apple TV is meant to do. Unless the extra storage is a necessity for you.
This is a no brainer. With the drop in price, nothing comes close. I have the 1st generation and also a chrome cast 3. Despite liking the chrome cast, it doesn’t have the power. With Apple calibration, the picture is superior.

I'm an early adopter of the Apple TV. I've had each version. My only complaint, still, is the remote. It has always been a challenge and I don't understand why Apple can't make a decent remote. The last couple of versions were incredibly annoying because they are too touch-sensitive. So I use the remote app on my iPhone, which is frustration-free. There's nothing about this version that would make me want to upgrade.
Honestly i was a fan of the 4K 1st Gen remote. Easy muscle memory. The touch surface was nice. And the Wii remote style (if u can call it that) to move the cursor on screen, made typing way easier (way less clicking required). I mean ya can always just use Siri. But sometimes if you’re typing in non dictionary words. She wont get it right.
I can control the Apple TV 4K (2022) box with my TV remote, the Apple TV remote or the iPhone remote. Works pretty well. I have my TV set and the Apple TV box connected to a Yamaha AV receiver.

Any chance of telling me after working ok all of a sudden when i go to log into zwift app it tells me on screen whoa error logging into that account. I cann get it working after messing about for 15 minutes Any ideas how to solve this problem

So just curious why would someone need this when tv’s now and days come with built in media apps? I’m guessing because those tend to be on the slow side when these are much faster?
The OS of most TV manufacturers are mostly underpowered, and update policy is bad. The Apple TV HD from 2015 is still running latest TV OS. Go figure!
Is it worth upgrading from the 2017 Apple TV 4K if I just mainly use it to stream? TH-cam TV, Disney+, Netflix, HBO Max, etc etc. I don't play games on it

Not sure if anyone touched on this; 4K gen 1 WILL NOT display HDR content on the TH-cam app. I just set up my Gen 3 and it DOES playback HDR TH-cam content.
2nd gen plays HDR with TH-cam.

Via HDMI-Arc should work. Bluetooth might as well, but sounds clearly inferior.
hdmi arc works on the previous version too :)) It should work on this one.
I use HDMI-Arc through my TV and then out to my surround

The Apple TV allows different user profiles, so yes. Family members can all control the Apple TV box with their individual iPhones, while logged into their individual profile. All at once: no!
But you can control the Box with either the iPad or iPhone remote control (within a profiles)

Not sure this one makes sense monetarily as you can now get the last gen for $100 with 32gb and Ethernet/wifi. The A12 is plenty fast for what the Apple TV is meant to do. Unless the extra storage is a necessity for you.

This is a no brainer. With the drop in price, nothing comes close. I have the 1st generation and also a chrome cast 3. Despite liking the chrome cast, it doesn’t have the power. With Apple calibration, the picture is superior.

I'm an early adopter of the Apple TV. I've had each version. My only complaint, still, is the remote. It has always been a challenge and I don't understand why Apple can't make a decent remote. The last couple of versions were incredibly annoying because they are too touch-sensitive. So I use the remote app on my iPhone, which is frustration-free. There's nothing about this version that would make me want to upgrade.
Honestly i was a fan of the 4K 1st Gen remote. Easy muscle memory. The touch surface was nice. And the Wii remote style (if u can call it that) to move the cursor on screen, made typing way easier (way less clicking required). I mean ya can always just use Siri. But sometimes if you’re typing in non dictionary words. She wont get it right.
I can control the Apple TV 4K (2022) box with my TV remote, the Apple TV remote or the iPhone remote. Works pretty well. I have my TV set and the Apple TV box connected to a Yamaha AV receiver.
