Hi Tazyeen. Classes for Reception are approx from 9am-3pm. This includes playtime and lunch as well. They usually have a break for 30mins to an hour to play.
Hi there Ramya. Happy the video helped. 1. To get admission to reception the child should have their 5th birthday fall during the academic year of September to august. 2. Reception onwards is free in state schools.
Hi Aashika, thanks for your videos really helpful. Me and my family (wife and my son) moving to UK early next year. Do you have any idea on inclusive schools in London ?

Hey there. You do have to buy the uniform but the books are paid for. Schools often sell pre owned uniforms. Or you can buy them up from most large supermarkets. They are priced low so that everyone can afford them.
I have one query regarding my son primary school admission in Uk. As I checked school open for session 25-26 in sep 2025 and we must need to apply through application before 15 jan 2025 cut off date,But As I said I am moving UK in june and after finalize my apartment location only ,I can take school admission for my son,So please assist if I can apply after move to malta or it will be late and my son have might have chance to loose yr.
So you'll have to apply for a mid-year application. The council will let you know which schools have vacancies and then you can apply accordingly. That's what we did too.
Hi there. State schools are free, outstanding ones included. The schools are classified by ofsted and you can check the schools around you by using your postal code on the ofsted website. It lists all schools around and each of their rankings.
Hi Ashika, I recently moved to the UK on a students visa and planning to bring my son in the coming September. He is currently in his grade 7 in India. When should I start applying to get an admission in a state school?
Hi Mahalakshmi, the official admissions process just closed but what you can do is apply as soon as he's here. For now, write in an email to your borough asking if you can apply already or if you'll have to wait for him to get here. Do you have a rented house? You'll have to share your address.
Hi Ashika, I am coming there for Sep intake along with my son for admission for grade 3. In that case, should I look for admissions and apply for schools within 15th Jan? Plz provide clarity on this. I am still unsure of which place I will be and will get an idea of where I will get admission only by end of Jan so plz advice.

Hi Akshitha, thanks for the video.. Couple of questions My daughter will turn 4 yr in Nov 22 She will join me in the UK in April 23 I will already start working in Oct 22, now can I apply for her admission without her in the UK? What documents do I need in order to do so? Since she will join me in April, and the results will be announced in April, I am of the assumption that the academic year starts in sept 2023, when she will start reception year in the UK Also what is required of her for admissions? Like she knows to write Capital A-Z Phonics, numbers 1-20
Hi Ashika, thank you for sharing all the info, very helpful! What if I plan to come down in January 2023 with my child, who will turn 5 in Oct 2022, so ideally he qualifies to join reception year. I understand that application window may still be open in Jan, but reception year would have started since September 2022...so if I apply, will they allow the child to start reception year mid way from Jan or will it be that I can apply only for Key stage 1 which will start in September 2023 and till then he can't start school in the UK. Also, in such a case, would they need any document proof of education from India, like he is currently doing his Montessori Junior /LKG here, which he will be completing by Mar 2023. Worst still, will he be asked to start reception year from Sep 2023 instead of Key Stage 1 (appropriate stage as per his age then). Please help, thank you!
Hi Praveen, should be possible. If you know which bourough you plan on staying in, write in to them and ask them about the procedure they follow to be extra sure. If you aren’t sure of the borough, write in to 2-3 of the ones you are considering
Hi there. If you’re coming over in September, you can apply to your local borough as soon as you get here. School starts on 1st September. You’ll be allocated a school within a few days and will be able to start your child immediately
Hi Ancy, from what I know you can't. We had tried doing this but they told us that you can only apply once you reach the UK. It will depend on the location of your house and whether it falls under the catchment area for that school. School begins in September so as soon as you get here and get your housing sorted, shoot out an email to your local borough asking for a list of schools that have seats available. You'll be able to close the process in a weeks time or so.
