6:31 Pepe/chillies are mostly served on the side so people can add to their taste and not cooked in the food. Like you say, Kenya is not short of spices or food varieties, but people generally prefer less spicy food or none at all and few combinations of food for a meal. Over- spiced food is actually a put off for most Kenyans. Too much oil or floating oil on food is a put off too. Tea and coffee are a must have!! Especially tea.
There are those of us Kenyans who love spices, but the floating oil iss a no oh!! Then the cow hide thing - yikes! Nigerians must have very strong teeth! Tea and coffee are grown in Kenya for export. in many workplace/offices in kenya, there is 10 Oclock tea and 4 Oclock tea; in any case some workmates consumes all tea without reserving a few cups for others, it can trigger workplace conflictWhile taking tea, it must accompany something called escort (mandazi, bread, chapati, potatoes, groundnuts etc) to escort the tea.

Keep up the good vibe.
I'm from Tanzania, Kenya's neighbors. We have very similar cuisines. We do not use too much oil and pepper in our foods. Situations differ from one county to another but generally the amount of Pepper inWest African cusine is generally not a common occurrence in our cuisine. Coastal tribes all over Tanzania, Kenya, and neighbouring islands use spices like cardamom, blackpepper, cumin, cinnamon, masala, garlic, ginger, cloves and coconut cream e.t.c but pepper is used in moderation. This style of cuisine is now generally wide spread throughout EA especially Tanzania and Kenya Pepper is usually made into "chachandu", it's a blended cooked or fermented mixture of pepper and garlic, lemon e.t.c so a person get to add on the plate as much pepper as they would like whilst not affecting others.I hope you got to try masala tea. I visited Nigeria last year and I almost fainted because of pepper and oil in food. I ended up eating swallow and all sorts of boiled yams (your yams are super good). I also found a supermarket where I was able to buy basmati rice. I'm sure you've noticed that our 'soups' are generally cooked individually incontrast to how Nigerians can make one dish and use fish, chicken beef, and all sorts of proteins in one pot It's crazy how cultures can differ so much withing the same continent
Woow this is an interesting information 🤗. Thank you for sharing. Yeahhh You are very observant we literally cook our soups with different proteins in one😅😅. Thank you so much Pearl, I appreciate you alot 🙏❤️

@@hassangingi7033 oh yeah, alot of Nigerians love Kenya, especially those that have been there
@@euniceshalom I love Nigerian women...their energy is at another level! maybe its because of that Pepe🔥🔥
Your content is good for learning. None of the two cultures is necessarily good or bad than the other. It then follows that we are a wonderful and diverse peoples. As a Kenyan, I love Nigeria for their music, movies and foot ball. Your entertaiment industry is quite ahead.
Kachumbari which is a local "salad' contains pepper so you should ask for it at local joints if you want spicy food.
Alright I will, thank you😊
In kenya pepper/Chili/pilipili are for export in foreign countries like China and India but not for used locally.

I get a headache if I go a whole day without tea, it's that serious! We don't have palm fruits to make the oil, but we have lots of different cooking oils like canola oil, avocado oil, coconut, olive oil etcetera
Woow this tea part is so accurate 😅😅, yes I see this listed oils at the supermarket. thanks for watching Bella🤗
@@GinaZara1 you're welcome 😂😂😂

Very insightful comparison. Welcome to Kenya.
Thank you so much ❤️
in many workplace/offices in kenya, there is 10 Oclock tea and 4 Oclock tea; in any case some workmates consumes all tea without reserving a few cups for others, it can trigger workplace conflictWhile taking tea, it must accompany something called escort (mandazi, bread, chapati, potatoes, groundnuts etc) to escort the tea.
Break time is tea time😂🤣😅🤣, I’m gradually becoming a tea lover too. yeah i love mandazi and chapati alot😍.
😄😄😄 that part of workplace conflict is the truest statement I have heard today 😄😄 for the love of tea/coffee
@@chrisphinengani8327 🤣🤣🤣🤣

If you think Nairobi is cold in January you wait until cold season in June ans July, you will cry

Kenya is quite chilled. People mind their own business. As a foreigner living in Kenya 🇰🇪 the only advice I can give is stick to the law..The authorities nowadays have a habit -which they enjoy, on cracking down on foreigners.
Thank you so much 🙏
I have lived in SA, experienced the profiling by police.. would you please elaborate on how they crack down on foreigners, I don't get to see it as as a Kenyan. We also know the president order to allow all Africans here to live in peace
@@sylviah9666 Thank you Sylviah, I appreciate 😊🙏
@@sword_tech I know this and you are so right👍
which is damn sad. we want our foreigners to feel safe not harrassed by cops.
Very mature observations.
Thank you so much 🙏, I appreciate you
New Kenyan subscriber here. That was a good video. Next time how about include images or short videos of what you see in Kenya, e.g. food, people at work, hustles of the city center etc. And if you visit Nigeria soon, how about do a video showing the countryside and village life of the country. Keep up the good vibe.
Thank you so much and welcome to the family 💃💃💃💃. Alright I will do just that.
Ugali is tuwo masara here in Nigeria. Its corn dough. Love ur vlog.
Wow, I have not tried tuwo before. Looking forward to trying it when next I visit home. Thanks for sharing 🙏❤️
This style of cuisine is now generally wide spread throughout EA especially Tanzania and Kenya
Pepper is usually made into "chachandu", it's a blended cooked or fermented mixture of pepper and garlic, lemon e.t.c so a person get to add on the plate as much pepper as they would like whilst not affecting others.I hope you got to try masala tea.
I visited Nigeria last year and I almost fainted because of pepper and oil in food. I ended up eating swallow and all sorts of boiled yams (your yams are super good). I also found a supermarket where I was able to buy basmati rice. I'm sure you've noticed that our 'soups' are generally cooked individually incontrast to how Nigerians can make one dish and use fish, chicken beef, and all sorts of proteins in one pot
It's crazy how cultures can differ so much withing the same continent
Woow this is an interesting information 🤗. Thank you for sharing. Yeahhh You are very observant we literally cook our soups with different proteins in one😅😅. Thank you so much Pearl, I appreciate you alot 🙏❤️
Yes 🥰 🇰🇪 Kenya we are the best welcome once more to Kenya ,,,eat ugali is very good
Thank you so much, yea I ate Ugali few days ago😅😅
Good content 😂😂😂😂 that part of Kenyan eating peppe until he sweats
But what you call jolof rice we also cook here, but we add potatoes in the mix
😂😂😂The reactions are so epic, you mean Pilau right?😅😅😅. Anticipate a video about it
I love Nairobi’s weather!
I love it too😍😍
I love your sense of humour. We grow the spices to export them.Agriculture is the main source of foreign exchange. We also have really good coffee and we also have flowers especially the roses and the tulips but we export them.I can say Kenya 🇰🇪 is a very hard working country.Enjoy Kenya and stay warm.karibu nyumbani.
Asante sana 🙏, I appreciate you alot 🤗
My five year old son started drinking tea at a very young age let's say 6 months old until today you must prepare his flask first thing in the morning.
