  • if you've ever wondered what do to with daffodils after flowering, this is the video for you!
    Catherine demonstrates how to cut off the spent flowers from daffodils after they're done blooming. She also shows you what NOT to do. Her method allows the leaves to stay in place to feed the bulb, but removes the flower stalk so the peak bloom look is extended for as long as possible. Deadheading daffodils is an important part of their care. coloradoyardcar...

    So do i have to continue watering the bulb? And how much space do they need until next year? I’m new to gardening, my mom always gardened but she hasn’t dealt with bulbs which is what i like so i’m kinda lost lol

    Great video!!! what daffodil varieties would you recommend most for fragrance? I love scented flowers and have several plants with a great fragrance in my garden, but I am always keen to share different experiences with other gardeners

    Not sure I understand the difference between cutting the leaves down at the base as you describe in the first part of the video versus cutting off the leaves down at the base later in the video.

    Hi, I bought a daffodil plant from wal-mart on valentines day. I repotted it but some of the leaves tips is turning yellow. Can you tell me what this means?

    I was watching a different video and that person was saying to deadhead the flower so that new flowers will grow. Which method is better for more flowers in the garden?

    • @davematthew21
      @davematthew21 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw that same video, i would say catherine here suggests to dead head the stalk of the old flower only to maintain a visual appeal of the garden to avoid yellow stalks amid green leaves, if looks isnt a concern i would keep the stalk and only dead head the colours as the stalk still is green and that means still having chlorophyl, which lets face it the more a plant has the better.

      @@davematthew21 I don't think bulbs flower more if you deadhead them. I think that only works on flowering plants. Not bulbs

    if you watch these videos some will say to cut the stem just below the flower and some will say to cut it off stem and all, so i guess the one that works for you is the best ,c'ant believe what they say.

    Hi Catherine, I have cut of all dead daffodil heads ans left leaves and stems. But when the leaves die of can you take out the bulbs from pots dry them and plant in the ground? Ready for next year

    • @catherinemoravec1648
      @catherinemoravec1648  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a smart idea. I would try removing them from the pot, drying them down by storing in a cool, dry place, and then planting them in your landscape in the fall. If they get too much warmth and moisture they sometimes think it's spring and start growing at the wrong time of year. Let me know how it goes!
