I can validate the peace lily. Moved into a new home and the bathroom does not have a window. I do get natural low light from the patio from a distance of about 10 meters and I did place a grow light in the bathroom, still baby girl is alive and pushing out leaves, the flowers that were already there when I purchased the plant are holding up nicely. It's happy, I'm happy.

I live in a tiny flat with barely any light and no useable windowsills, and have recently added a dracaena to the same windowless corner that has been happily occupied by my english ivy since last august. I'm just starting to learn about plant care and made some barely educated guesses for my plant placements, glad to see I seem to have made the right choice there (even if they're both plants you're not too fond of haha)
will definitely save this video for inspiration!

As someone that primarily have succulents, haworthias are actually fine in relatively lower light, I have a line of windowed ones on my north windows and not only are they alive, half are starting to grow flower stalks so they’re happy enough being on the worst side. Those leaves honestly look more like a rot problem which is common if you forget that they’re desert plants.

I got a couple of them JML-Hygro pods lights from Asda
Great for a herb garden on a north facing window
And for brightening up a dark corner with some indoor ferns and succulents.
The Light head can flat spin 180°on a telescopic rod (car ariel) and work like a mini street light.
    If turned backwards
Flooding a bigger square around its single self wicking pot
So you can get 5 more short plants around it,
One either side and a row of 3 infront.
Highly recommend at 20 bucks each
    Well worth checking out.

So we have pretty much nothing in between 😅 I'm always looking for options to put in our bathroom, guest room and hallway on the "dark" side. My Monsteras are in the full direct sun windows, but maybe I'll take a cutting and stick it in the bathroom 🤔

I was told by an experienced plant collector that a Raven ZZ plant is one of the exceptions to the rule: "the darker the plant's leaves are, the less light it needs". They said that the Raven variety needs more light than a 'regular'/green ZZ plant. I have not actually tried testing this, but perhaps you could? 😀

I've made the opposite experience with Calathea and ferns. My big Calathea warscewiczii and Calathea ornata are under a grow light with at least medium light (for 10h) and my maiden hair fern is in recovery under a cheap led strip grow light for 12h. Anything under these conditions and they crisp up.
Rubber trees and dracaenas do well in low light. At least the ones in my brothers room, which gets only a few hours of very indirect light a day at best. They can also take massive under watering. Otherwise, philodendron Micans, crawling philodendron (usually) and hyacinths (had mine 3m away from a window, no water for over 6 months, on a heater that gets burning hot - I thought they were dead, thus no care and now they are sprouting again) can take lower light.

Snake plants are truly indestructible, but I did somehow manage to kill my English ivy. It almost died when I first got it, but I managed to bring it back to life and it was doing really good for a year or so and then the leaves suddenly started drying off and it died this winter. I might have watered it too little... or maybe too much. Possibly both. It's hard to tell sometimes lol.

Love this list! Gonna try growing aglaonemas (although for some reason they are not very common where I live). Unfortunately, my snake plant grew a lot of ugly thin leaves when it lacked light... I'm looking for a better spot for it now. Philodendron scandens also did not enjoy being a couple of meters away from the south-facing window.
But the zz plant is an absolute trooper, this thing THRIVES in its spot three meters away from the nearest window. Also, on the topic of calatheas: Ctenanthe burle-marxii (fishbone plant) is standing near the zz plant and while its stems are quite long, it is lush and leafy and has no intentions to die. Also very much recommended!

I was not surprised to see a Monstera as the first item on this list. I have one that I bought a couple years ago from a Trader Joe's. I brought him in for the winter, and he's currently in a corner of my office, about 3-4 meters from the nearest window. And just a couple weeks ago he put out two brand new leaves, both of which are fenestrated. I was surprised and delighted to see how well he's done inside. In fact, he's gotten big enough that it's looking like time to break him up into a few smaller plants, one of which I'm probably going to keep inside this summer, just to keep some green in my workspace.

I can say that (knock on wood) both my Adansonii and my Peru have been doing well thru out this winter, so I would also suggest these Monsteras which are a bit less ubiquitous than the Deliciosa. Likewise, I have recently got both a mature Piece Lilly and a Cast Iron and so far so good, the latter is supposedly one of the safest bets for low-light situations on par with the ZZ and not as common.

My peace lily has been in the dark hallway (in Edinburgh) for the past 6 years but keeps trying to flower. As I don’t like the flower I’m having to cut then off every time 😂

I love your videos! I've been spamming them since my plant obsession started a couple of months ago. Could you please recommend me a plant that will thrive in a bathroom window with indirect sun light and lots of humidity? Many thanks!

I currently have about thirty ferns, and it's true, they survive in low light, but if you really want them to thrive and grow bigger, then they should go in bright indirect sunlight. If they are in low light, they will survive but often not grow. Also, they need a lot of water anyways, but if they are in bright conditions they need even more!

I enjoy your videos! I am having issues with my Money tree. Leaves are falling off and it is near a window but not in direct light. What is your recommendation? I have the water meter in the pot . It is between dry and moist.

Can you have three stems in one pot? I'm just thinking about Raindrop pepperonia. Does the same apply to Pilea Pepperonis? And thank you, your videos are extremely helpful. I am just beginner. I bought 3 plants week ago. (semi light/dark room - pilea, pepperonia 2 variations)

I know Jomo Studio in Toronto Canada sells them, I got a replacement for my old one that was over ten years old from there and as soon as I got it, my old guy started to come back to life !!!!!
It's sentimental to me, my mom bought it for me and she died in 2017.
I spent years trying to find a new one.
I don't know where you're located but good luck, I was lucky they shipped here, not sure how far they ship.

Most are fairly common I think at least near me. Online is a good bet though
