How are all angels biblically accurate? 😳 Most people depict angels as naked humans with wings, but in the bible, angels did not have genitals. So, it’s fair to say not all angels are biblically accurate.
By "All angels are biblically accurate" I mean that more humanoid angels that just look like humans with wings exist alongside angels like Thrones and Seraphims. A lot of people seem to think that only one type can exist and that the more normal depictions of angels are not biblically accurate. But you are right, angels are genderless!
Pigeocore Ahhh I admire and like you very much because of your awesome art so I hate disagreeing with you, 🙈 but biblically accurate means according to the bible, and the bible never described angels as humans with wings. That’s just the way we choose to depict them, to show they are higher than humans. Saying all angels are biblically accurate is not true, because biblically accurate means closely according to the exact words of the bible. And if a depiction of an angel does not match descriptions from the bible, then it is not biblically accurate. In the bible, the different types of angels depicted were mostly not humanoid. Cherubs, for example, were not naked children with wings (this depiction is based upon Cupid, Roman god of attraction and desire) but they were animal-human hybrids with four faces and four wings. They had one human face, but the rest were different animals. miro.medium.com/max/1004/1*YXxbbvBjoHtRfz0W-HiwIQ.jpeg Here is what a cherub actually looks like according to the bible. A type of angel that is described as humanoid is the Malakim, which do not have wings at all. Originally, most angels in paintings were depicted wingless, but during the Renaissance I think, they started adding wings to artistically represent that they are between God and humanity. But no-one at that time really believed that angels were winged humans. Eventually, the idea caught on, and now that’s how we imagine angels to be. A seraph, another type of angel, is the angel I think people mean with Featherkit. They have six wings total, and they exist to praise God and tell him how great he is. miro.medium.com/max/1400/1*zdxPXmurAZwaynIoqDNgBQ.jpeg And finally, the most bizarre looking angel, an Ophanim, which are these strange gold eyed rings with wings that float around. miro.medium.com/max/1200/1*ZmjlkG-eVB4GmZeHLC-hNQ.jpeg
