Pentax DA 18-135mm WR Kit Lens Review for Pentax K70 Camera

I use the Pentax DA 18-135mm WR kit lens with my Pentax K-70 for street photography, portrait photography, nature photography, and just photography in general. The lens is sharp and provides results you would expect from a Pentax quality lens.

The 18-135 is one of the best kit lenses from any brand I think! The only problem for me is that I constantly have the 55-300 PLM glued to my K3!

I've seen that lens on your videos and it looks very useful! I just typically don't do much landscape stuff or rural, so over 55 doesn't do me much good. As a matter of fact, I'm one of those few that don't care for the 'nifty-fifty' unless it's full frame because it's too close lol Although I do have a new 50mm 1.4 coming that I'm anxious to try. But you shoot some great images with that 55-300 - I know why you like it! Thanks lee!

Yes, very strong. And I'm not opposed to using a zoom for everyday use, regardless of how 'soft' the corners may or may not be. It's rare I look that closely at anyone else's photos, or mine. Thanks for the support!

I'm not big on postprocessing and in SOOC the 18-135 shows its flaws, eg purple fringing at wide angles for nature shots. But I'm happy using it for family shots - good price point to not become too worried

I'm not as critical regarding fringing, etc because I typically never even see that sort of thing when I hit my initial preset in Lightroom that takes all that away before I even view the image, so I couldn't argue any of that with you. As you said, the price point makes it something that an avid photographer can use for almost anything, understanding it has limitations when pushed. Thanks for the input!

That is my go to lens and if I need to then I use the 70 to 300 kit lens and after that if I need even further I have a 150 to 500 sigma

I don't think I've ever even looked through a 500mm lens, much less used one lol! That would require some steady hands, or some good post-sharpening software! lol Thanks for the support!

Always look forward to your videos , I wish people would stop referring to lens that come with a camera as kit lens , if they sold a camera with a pro lens is that now a kit lens ? .

Hey thanks Adrian - appreciate the support! I'll have to push back slightly on the 'kit lens.' After all, if it comes with the camera, in a kit, it's a kit lens lol That designation is assigned by the manufacturer to help distinguish different lines/quality of their lenses. Nothing insulting about it. If Pentax is calling it a kit lens, who am I to call it something else. That's how I typically make the call. Thanks again my friend!

I'm surprised you didn't mention the lack of edge sharpness, at all apertures, and the chromatic aberration that this lens exhibits in certain situations. I've been a Pentax user since 1977 and this is a lens that does not live up to the Pentax name.

This is just a basic user video, there are plenty of pixel-peeping comparisons out there for those that care about such things. But I appreciate the input and your reply might lead others to dig deeper if they’re looking at this lens. Thanks!!
