The "died to a terminal case of being shot in the head" and the story about the prime minister Churchill's encounter with Abe's spirit gave me a chuckle
Assuming Churchill wasnt drinking a bit too much that night that has got to be one of the funniest and most British thing to happen during a Ghost encounter. The fact that Churchill wouldnt have even given it a second thought of seeing a man dressed in old time clothes is just so amusing. But I would love to see that Ghost train what a sight that must be to see.
I suppose Churchill knew that by the clothes that they where from the 19th century. this Ghost story is very interesting as I didn't know that the PM of the UK was mixed up in it.
@@eliotreader8220 Yeah this is one of those almost forgotten stories that is but a mere footnote but a fascinating one nonetheless. Love how Churchill automatically assumed he was the President very funny.
It actually wasn't a luxury locomotive that was built for Lincoln it was a luxury passenger car. It was called the United States. However Lincoln never got the chance to ride in it alive as he thought it would be too ostentatious to ride in during a time of War. He and his son Willie were transported back to Springfield in this car. Afterwards the car was given to the Union Pacific and used for a couple years on the Transcontinental Railroad before being moved to Minnesota where it perished in a wildfire. A replica of the car was made in time for the 150th anniversary of his death. It currently resides at the Star Barn in Ohio where it runs along a portion of the right of way that the original car ran over back in 1865.
The Funeral Car is actually in Pennsylvania now. It was bought by the Stone Gables Estate. The route the Harrisburg Lincoln Lancaster RR runs on is the same route Lincolns Funeral Train ran on.
Fascinating! I have heard many stories of old Abe still knockin' about the place, but didn't kow about the ghost funeral train. Ghost trains are nothing new though. I sure would love to see that ghost train! Seems Abe loves playing a prank on folks. And why not, he isn't harming anyone.
Don't forget Queen Wilhemina fainting dead away when she found him standing in the doorframe of the room she was staying at in the White House, namely the Lincoln Bedroom.

Churchill encounter is amusing. So Lincoln is secretly into guys then? Lol. The fact he was so calm about it is impressive, he must have encountered a lot of ghost before.
I have just played out Churchill's encounter in my head with his voice while drinking tea.. I nearly drowned in tea, laughing. Also, am I the only one to imagine oneself as a steam locomotive when thinking of ghostly forms to take
Oh lordy. Some fact checking is required. There was no singular locomotive chosen to haul the train. As your own photos of the event dictate, the Lincoln Funeral Train was hauled by a number of locomotives. Depending on the company whose metals the train was routed to pass over. There was no "luxury locomotive" that was built for Lincoln it was a private passenger car named "The United States." However Lincoln never got the chance to ride in it alive as he thought it would be too ostentatious to ride in during a time of War. He and his son Willie were transported back to Springfield in this car as a part of the funeral train. After the trip, the car was used by President Andrew Johnson, but he too did not like the car. The car was sold to the Union Pacific Railroad was was used by Thomas C. Durant for a time. It was lost in a wildfire in 1911. There is a replica of the car made in time for the 150th anniversary of the Funeral Train. It currently resides at the Stone Gables Estate in Pennsylvania where it runs along a portion of the right of way that the original car ran over back in 1865.
I always take ghost stories with a pinch of salt, but Dingle station near Liverpool is one of the few where I think maybe the stories are true. That place is cursed.
Ghost trains, ghost trains, what a fearful sight, the lincoln memorial was racing through the night. Just as it passed me by, i heard the engineer cry "Give her coal, give her coal, shovel it on"
Not just the locomotive but Lincoln’s own private car wasn’t seen by him. As a matter of fact he was actually supposed to be inspecting the car on the day that he went to the theater.
I would love to see the Lincoln ghost train. Are there dates of when it might appear - possibly on the anniversary of the train arriving in Albany, Utica, etc?

That Locomotive was a PRR engine and the other was Old Nashville. I don't know if B&O No.25 also pulled that train. The car was originally supposed to be the Presidential car for Lincoln to use, which would be the First Presidential car in the United States. Thank Lincoln and the Union North(also Republicans) for the freedom that made the Slaves free, as the US Civil War is about the North(and Republicans) wanting to eliminate Slavery because the Slaves are also Brothers & Sisters through Christ, while the South(also Democrats) wanted to keep Slavery as it's part of their profit and greed. Fun Fact: Republicans and Democrats were formed in the beginning of the Civil War over Slavery, Republicans wanted to end Slavery because it's sin, and Democrats wanted to keep Slavery because it's part of Finances. Long story short, Democrats are the Villain's while the Republicans are the Heros.
