Might have been a review, but was actually a pretty good tutorial to get started with this reader. I bought one a year ago, figured it was time I learn to use it. LOL
Same here! Bought it a while ago & didn't need it, now have misfire code on #5 cylinder (2010 F150). replaced plug, coil, and injector which were all in great condition, I think it's the VVT solenoid which I'm tackling tomorrow. Fun.
I have one of these i bought back in 2021. It came also with battery clamps to test batterys condition. I love it, but it's time to upgrade. Good obs tester for ordinary car/truck owner. Great video, thank you.
8:42 "MAF" I believe is "mass airflow" for air intake. How do you know if the reading is too high or too low? Does the device show that? 2/18/24, 5:46 p.m.
Fantastic video and well presented. However, you said the tool didn't give much info regarding the Ford F350 deisel. I see at the 3.16 minute mark of the video when you were going through the 'set up' section, you actualy selected 'spark IGN', when with a deisel you should have selected 'compression IGN'. This may have made a difference to the readings...😎. Thank you for a great video, from Adelaide Australia.
i am thinking of buying the foxwell nt301 my injectors are in the wrong cylinders [diesel] will this unit show me the correct codes to fix this mistake
I purchased their NT301 model but they are very difficult to deal with when I asked for a update. Foxwell did everything to block me. Best to buy O.T.C or Snap-On and not get shafted.
What is the year of this scanner ? What version is this ? Does this scanner scan for Fuel Presure Test example Fuel Pump or Fuel Injectors ? Does this do Compresion test for Sparks ?
WHERE CAN THE AVG. GUY GET THE SPECS. FOR THE VEHICLES TO COMPARE THIS DATA. IN OTHER WORDS, HOW CAN WE DETERMINE WHAT'S AVG. IN TERMS OF READINGS? GREAT VIDEO!!
Hey, would you recommend this scanner for inspection only purposes (i.e. just to check a car before you buy the car, not to perform any sort of repairs)
@@ProjectTimeGarage thanks for the reply! Ended up going with the nt680 all systems, given this one only reads the ECU and no other modules. Loving the 680, perfect for inspections!
Actually, it all depends on what the vehicle can report over basic OBD. For example, my 2015 GMC can show total timing advance, but my 2014 ford cannot. The scanner can listen to and report trans temp, as long as the vehicle is sending that PID out.
I have a chevy Aveo (Holden barina tk 2010) aussie version of the Aveo. Can you tell me why the exclamation mark comes up? But on the Mitsubishi ASX 4B11 2014? Reads perfectly. Reds the Holden barina but that exclamation mark? It has me confused? Any reply appreciated cheers from Australia 👍. The I/M readiness reads fine on the Holden barina? Weird
@@ProjectTimeGarage aahh thanks mate ! Yes you're spot on! I hooked up again an air sensor and on sensor. Now it makes sense as I've only AED ( advanced engine diagnostic) on a laptop and it's aldl tech 2 compliant but extremely detailed! Thanks heaps 👍

What did you upgrade to and why did you upgrade from the foxwell?
Great video. I am getting one tomorrow morning. This information had been helpful.
Glad it was helpful!

2/18/24, 5:46 p.m.
It just shows the reading.
this will show you what the readings are. but you probably need to look up the specs for your car. all vehicles are different.

Wow, I'll have to revisit it then. I didn't even catch that. Thanks!!
At 5:02 it reads "ignition type spark".......... on a diesel ???
Yeah, no idea why. Maybe I have one of those rare diesels with spark plugs?
@@ProjectTimeGarage Mine does the same thing !!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you muchly sir, nice comparing the two vehicles too
My pleasure!
Another great video, thank you
Thanks!!
could i test EVAP solenoids from the classic GM 449 code?
Most likely.
i am thinking of buying the foxwell nt301 my injectors are in the wrong cylinders [diesel] will this unit show me the correct codes to fix this mistake
It varies by vehicle.
Will this lookup and clear codes for airbag sensors or is it purely engine and gearbox?
Don't think it will do SRS
I believe it does. The nt530 does SRS and a lot of things
I purchased their NT301 model but they are very difficult to deal with when I asked for a update.
Foxwell did everything to block me. Best to buy O.T.C or Snap-On and not get shafted.
Good info!
Updates are done online. It was very easy for me.
I hook the cable to my computer and when I'm finish using unit, I really have a hard time to pull out cable from plug do you have the same problem?
No, I don't have that issue.
hey man
thinking of getting one of these from ebay
is it worth it ?
I'll be using it on Japanese cars in a third world country 🥲
@@pareshlalta792 for the price its ok
@@ProjectTimeGarage that's weird

it only will tell you what the sensors tell the cars computer
Yep, @MrMrsregor is correct 100%

I would actually like to know that myself.
I dont have the option to read trans codes. Idea why not?
No idea.
Will this device erase codes as well
Yes
Thank for beautiful video 😊
Glad to help!
But I understand that engine has to be off and the power circuit open?
Not for live data.
Can you delete warning lights with this ?
Yes.
@ProjectTimeGarage
Thank you sir . Do you recommend any suppliers to buy it from ? As for now 2024 ?
Hey, would you recommend this scanner for inspection only purposes (i.e. just to check a car before you buy the car, not to perform any sort of repairs)
I'd say it's perfect for that.

So unfortunately no live transmission fluid temp. So many say it had the capability but it doesn’t based on your video.

I believe that means it has found either an active code, or a pending code. May want to scan all modules.

If you have any links on oscilloscope testing? Oh yeah! That would be great 👍
does this read abs
It does.
Does it clear abs?
Yeah I bought one and tried it today. Things garbage lol
Cool.
No ABS live data?
None that I saw.
19:58 "Mid April 2003", hmmm
LOL! I didn't even catch that. Talk about living in the past.....
April 2003..?
Yeah, somebody else caught that mistake too.
Those buttons are very confusing and extremely non intuitive.
Yeah, I've said that about every single scantool I've ever owned.
Bought one for "Manufacturers specific code) for Chevy Equinox 2012 (P1035).
Still taking it auto shop, quoted me $125 for diagnostic.
Absolutely rubbish. Mine couldn't even diagnose air flow sensor on a Mazda 6
A friend diagnosed it with an OBD scanner which cost less than £20.
So far I've found nothing it didn't do. Of couse, if I need something in-depth, I turn to my Autel MaxiSys.
