I'm menopausal so I unintentionally fridgescape when the brain fog sets in. Here we have a lovely tableau of my keys, glasses, some mail, and a lip balm ...
I do have some of those click-up lip balms that I keep in the fridge, though - because they almost sort of melt and become really difficult to work with otherwise. Other than that, my only bit of fridgescaping consists of poking my face in there to cool off when I get hot flashes.😂
I hear ya. I once spent 30 minutes frantically searching for my car keys. Found them in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator, while the eggs were in the china cabinet. I'll probably discover my shoe in the garbage disposal at some point.

The picture frames and photos… great little way to absolutely ruin your stuff with mildew. Gezus H these terminally online people and their obsession with making everything instagramable wear me the fuck out! 😅
Looking at all their fridges, this actually makes their fridges work really insufficiently. Your fridge needs circular airflow in order to work sufficiently, but it can’t do that if you fill all the space with statues, pots, and electronic candles. What then happens is the airflow gets trapped and starts freezing up everything that’s towards the back. And then when you put anything warmer in the fridge that needs to cooled down, it won’t be able to cool down fast enough and makes it more susceptible for spoilage
Yes thank you for some common freaking sense. Also this is insanely energy inefficient, the fridge will be working overtime trying to keep those hulking pieces of pottery and toy horses cold running up your electric bill. Who thinks of this dumb sh*t seriously 😬
Ah, good old fashioned common sense, which doesn't mix with ''fridgescaping''. What they seem to be doing is looking for a return to the old fashioned pantry where your items were kept in bowls and nice jars but which WEREN'T a fridge. [grew up with a proper walk in pantry and have rented houses with them as well, this is the vibe they are giving but in a teeny tiny fridge instead]
No fridgescaping here, just the fortnightly Tetris game to get the shopping put away. Oh and the obligatory limp salad bag from the health kick i start and deviate from by Wednesday!
10 week old apples, 6 year old soy sauce, half used cranberry sauce left over from xmas, a jar of moisteriser, bottle of toner and a storage tub with some food from 2001 in.
Who would have thought that my great aunt Mabel was ahead of her time, rather than just suffering from dementia that caused her to think the fridge was a bookshelf on occasion
These look like shrines. Food, photos, incense, flowers, and sometimes wallpaper. That’s a shrine for the deceased. I’d do mine like a Chinese shrine for my ancestors tbh because that would be hilarious. I’d change out the bulb for a red one and everything
I bet you’d start feeling your great-great-grandmother judging you every time you threw out leftovers! I don’t know if I want any spirits in my fridge other than that bottle of Chardonnay in the back reminding me how long it’s been since I had a friend over!
I stopped this video at various spots to show my husband and on every frame Robert’s face has either a sneer or a look of incredulity - so funny! The hobbit door got me too!
The only time I consider my fridge "pimped" out is after a big costco shop and it's stuffed with food. That's my definition of pimping out my fridge....periodt! 😂🤣🤣🤣
I never thought I would ponder the question of what theme I would use for fridgescaping before! I would have a science theme fridge since I'm a microbiologist. Drinks in beakers, a tiny lab coat around the Ketchup bottle, food in test tubes, biohazard stickers... it would probably look like a mad scientist fridge. That might actually be fun for a Halloween party.
Yeaahhh, my fridge usually winds up being a science experiment simply because instead of finding an open space to put whatever my kids or SO have in their hand, they just shove it onto a shelf, which makes whatever was at the back fall onto another shelf and then is forgotten… until the inevitable “what the @#$& is that smell!!?” 😆
These videos make me feel so much better about my own weirdness. Whenever I think I'm going over the top I'm just going to ask myself "am I on fridgescaping level? No? We're good.". Also feel like in the 50s "designing" your fridge was more "have it setup so you know where everything is so you can keep track of what you need to buy and what you already have".
yes on the second point! "designing" just meant organizing. housewives in the 50s were doing weird things with their food but they weren't sticking WALLPAPER and picture frames in their fridges.
All this says to me is "I have this huge fridge I can no longer afford to fill with food so, I took stuff off of my bookshelf to put in there to fill up all the empty space"
Fridge-scaping sounds like a fun assignment for an art class. Even if it's just drawn. Interesting creative exercise, though not practical for everyday. :)
I was literally served a heap of these fridge videos on Instagram last night and all I could think was 'these people don't have children or live with a single male' 😂
This reminds me of those colorful, wooden dollhouses that had those huge walls on one side that would open and close. All of the little knick knacks that have to be rearranged, the occasional dramatic storylines, and aesthetic updates…it just reminds me of a dollhouse except it’s now a fridge!
7:44 #4 is lead as in the metal which makes it even more insane. Don't put your antiques in the fridge anyway but if you need to lead test it, maybe just don't put it where you keep food...💀
In this video I'm seeing a lot of stuff thats not meant to hold or be that close to food, even without the lead that produce gonna be contaminated with something.
This trend came from my grandma. It was around the time we had to take her keys from her. She had put them & the cat in the fridge. That's exactly what this trend reminds me of. I would be so confused every time I open my fridge & see a plant, even if I put it there. Probably more so.
People have too much time and money on their hands. Fridges in the UK either contain a 4 pack of lager, half a bottle of brown sauce and a lump of mouldy cheddar or like an ADSA version of tetris.
While making things aesthetically pleasing is always satisfying, all of these examples are just so impractical! There's so little food in there yet the entire space is being taken up! Not to mention you're going to have to move those knick knacks out of the way to get behind them. All of these people must be single because there is no way you could do this with all the groceries a family of 2+ need, unless you like going to the store to restock twice a week. Not once did I see things like meat, precooked meals, leftovers, etc. It was all fruits and beverages and such.
I’m pretty sure my husband would have me admitted if I tried to put decor, flowers and pictures in our fridge 😂 but if I had to pick a theme I think it be garden themes with lots of fruits and vegetables that way it’s still practical.
When I go for a cheeky midnight snack, I don't wanna see my own reflection staring back at me making me feel guilty about that extra chocolate bar I take 😂😂😂
I have ADHD. My fridge is where things go to die. As soon as I close that door, I forget most things in there exist until I either get a craving for it or I get around to cleaning out my fridge. Fridgescaping just makes me think of all the wasted space and all the objects food can hide behind.
Exactly...although, I am wondering if I do put a few things in a pratical, but nice-looking-way that maybe I will be more likely to oay attention to it and not forget about it and it going bad.
It’s a super cute idea to look at in a magazine or on Instagram. But to live daily life with your fridge decorated? I’m lucky to have a fresh stocked fridge on any given day, let alone take the time and space to keep decorations clean and organized!
Not just lead - be careful with vintage Fiesta Red (orange) Fiestaware! They used uranium to color the ceramic glaze - and that wasn't the only color or the only brand - but for some reason that's the most famous example.
I think you can totally decorate your fridge by painting or buying decorated containers and jars, so you can actually store your food, without damaging the fridge or putting things on it that aren't supposed to be there. Actually, now I want to decorate my Tupperware with a theme hahaha. I think the idea has potential, the execution is just anxiety-inducing with all the picture frames and figurines.
I can see 3 different reasons for fridge scaping: 1. as you said, you're throwing a party and you want to do a cute little decor in the fridge to showcase the items that are for the party 2. you live alone and it brings joy. i might think it's weird, but you're not inconveniencing anyone else, so you do you boo 3. you can't afford to fill your fridge so you put decor on SOME of the shelves to make the fridge look less depressing Have whatever hobbies you want, do things that make you happy. Just try not to massively inconvenience other people on a day to day basis in the process. edit to clarify: I'm not talking about the minor levels of this stuff like putting food in cute containers. I'm talking about anything that is not food or food storage. picture frames, fake candles, rose petals, knick knacks, etc
Absolutely. It always fascinates me when people say they’re not creative because they can’t draw or paint and then come up with these incredible ways to express their creativity in their own home. If it’s not harming anyone, why judge? There’s only two harm I can think of: the first is if people feel the need to do this themselves as a form of social pressure. Nobody’s doing this unless it’s for fun or content, so you don’t have to do this unless you really want to (same goes for dressing fashionably, styling your home, wearing or not wearing make up, etc). The second would be if corporations attempt to monetise this somehow.
"Frigidaire" Frigid Air my favorite company name as it's the best & most accurate company name ever! An ice box is literally just a box filled with cold air. When I glanced at the title 'fridgescaping', I thought it was a fantastic idea. Then I realized it the inside of the ice box, not the outside like I'd imagined. I'm rather bummed now cause I was excited to find decorating ideas for the outside of my ice box.
When I was little I thought my great aunt was saying fridgee there. It took me until I was a teen to realize she referred to her refrigerator by the brand name. 🤦♀
It's so funny that we come up with these new, quirky terms like "fridgescaping". Go back 15 years, and this is what we called "a mental health crisis".
The way people should be organizing their refrigerators is the way ServSafe (the food and beverage safety training and certificate program administered by the US National Restaurant Association (if you're not in the US, then whatever your country's equivalent would be)) recommends. That is, from top to bottom, store food in this order: ready-to-eat food (this includes fruits and veg), seafood, whole cuts of beef and pork, ground meat and seafood, and whole and ground poultry (and eggs). Cooked foods ideally would be kept entirely separate from raw foods, but most people don't have two fridges at home, so cooked foods would go up top. As far as decoration goes, the vinyl peel and stick covers that are made specifically for appliances are more than sufficient.
Used to have a catering company and two fridges many years ago. Now i rent and the fridge is so cold on the top shelf I only store beverages there or everything freezes!!! LOL So I start my "top shelf" on the second shelf. Force of habit, and keeps the food safer, and for longer.
This, I suspect, is for ppl with too much time and money on their hands that don't even use their fridge too much at all and order most of their food out. It's totally impractical. What if someone wants a jar of salsa or something that doesn't fit the theme? Shock horror!
@@LunarEleven Oh ya that's right, you need aesthetic containers for everything too. Ugh I think it looks nice, but so impractical. I have a family, including a pre-teen boy who also brings his pre-teen friends over all the time...I need more food in my fridge than decor!
I'd go for a Roccoco decoration if it was sanitary and I had the money and space for it! With tapestries on the sides and added carved decorations everywhere and little miniature desks and sofas. All the bottles would be shaped like people and fully dressed in royal clothing.... etc. I think I'd do that in a whole other fridge that's just for decoration. This whole Fridgescaping thing feels like something that people who don't actually cook would do xD
Honestly aesthetically I love the way this looks, but it’s just incredibly impractical. Don’t put wallpaper or candles in your fridge, it will mess with the efficiency. I have four kids so I need every inch of my fridge. Also the food is simultaneously too much and not enough like that is a TON of expensive produce to eat every week, I can’t imagine it doesn’t all go to waste especially because it’s meant to be in your crisper drawer and otherwise will dry out and get weird after like 2-3 days.
I mentioned this too but I can't imagine putting anything antique let alone even potentially containing lead in my damn food storage! It's cold and dry so maybe in theory it's safe for antiques but why own antiques and put them in the fridge. I'd just knock them over trying to grab my actual food
this is 100% done for content creation. no one has the time to be this precious (having said that, how about some freezer-scaping, do a little apres ski tableau, hmm?)
If it works for someone, I guess go off but it could never be me 😂 We usually have to play Jenga to get things in and out of our fridge, and we’re lucky if there’s not some errant veggie going bad or something. Like Robert said, this could be neat for a night you’re having guests or something, but for a regular thing? Who has the time (I say as I’m watching YT and procrastinating 😅) I just don’t see how this would actually benefit my life and would actually just give me a ton more chores to do with cleaning, prepping, and organizing things that way. For me the fridge is a functional space, not an aesthetic one.
When I see this kind of stuff, I always think that those people just have too much free time, and they are bored, so they try to find a way to do something, preferably something 'different' ✨️
Apparently there's a trend for decorating fences with shower curtains as well, now. I can't keep up; at least fences don't require regular access like a fridge, though 😅
Omg ok I’m an intuitive artist and I see art in almost everything and encourage it in almost all aspects. But this video made me angry. This trend is stupid. I feel like I need to make my own video to rant about this. I have opinions. To be clear, you never make me angry Robert, you’re fabulous!

Exactly...although, I am wondering if I do put a few things in a pratical, but nice-looking-way that maybe I will be more likely to oay attention to it and not forget about it and it going bad.
@@AG-hx6qn That could definitely work!
You just reminded me I stuffed a cabbage in the crisper drawer like a week ago
@@nikkireigns Oh noooooooooo
Me too, I would love to be so meticulously organised but in reality it's just tedious, impractical, and will create more mold and mildew
It’s a super cute idea to look at in a magazine or on Instagram. But to live daily life with your fridge decorated? I’m lucky to have a fresh stocked fridge on any given day, let alone take the time and space to keep decorations clean and organized!
And your fridge temperature must raise while you keep it open designing florals and placing art!!! It can't be great for your food storage.
I would laugh and immediately think it was AI.
"Lead test antiques" Lol Robert cracked me up this entire video.
Robert, they mean if you use antique dishes, test them for lead.
I love the 50s fridges with legs, it makes it easy to clean under it 😊
I can see 3 different reasons for fridge scaping:
1. as you said, you're throwing a party and you want to do a cute little decor in the fridge to showcase the items that are for the party
2. you live alone and it brings joy. i might think it's weird, but you're not inconveniencing anyone else, so you do you boo
3. you can't afford to fill your fridge so you put decor on SOME of the shelves to make the fridge look less depressing
Have whatever hobbies you want, do things that make you happy.
The second would be if corporations attempt to monetise this somehow.
yes i absolutely agree!
“…that would make me a dictator.” I CACKLED. 😂
😂😂 You know the tea is coming when the video starts with "Listen" straight out the gate! 😂😂😂
Those fridges back then were amazing! Not only cute and durable, but extremely practical
11:44 ahhhh i love that chaotic bird miss princetopher shes so cute !!
I love that you keep us informed of stupid TikTok trends so I don't have to download it 😂😂😂
Not Robert malfunctioning at 8:44 trying to make sense of this foolishness lol
You slagging off stupid new tiktok trends is one of my favorite genres 😂😂
The cowboy theme took me out, the horse 😂😂😂 I'm cackling chanting 'no'😂😂😂 hilarious
Forest theme every time, no idea how but... forest!
Fridgescaping is a hobby for people who live alone & don't mind dealing with all that.
"Frigidaire"
Frigid Air my favorite company name as it's the best & most accurate company name ever!
I'm not decorating my fridge. Just no. I'm doing good to keep it organized. But to be honest? Even that only kind of happens. 😂😂😂
Yes! 😂As long as it's clean and filled with FOOD I'm happy
It's so funny that we come up with these new, quirky terms like "fridgescaping". Go back 15 years, and this is what we called "a mental health crisis".
💀 💯
This is also called "Phil has had a divorce and misses Mary's decorating skills." Well, I guess that is a sort of crisis. LOL
It’s more like “desperate for attention from strangers” lol
😂😂
Lol
It's incredible that our society is so wealthy we can decorate inside our refrigerator, what a time to be alive!
I’m sooo glad you took this one on, Robert. I saw my first “fridgescaping” content yesterday and I was speechless
Meh I like to live dangerously, a lil bacteria and viruses make you strong. I haven't been sick in like 5 years, no vax 💪🏼
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 from the UK and concur
Only on outside, not inside, they off-gas at first, so not healthy inside a contained environment, leeching into food.
Used to have a catering company and two fridges many years ago. Now i rent and the fridge is so cold on the top shelf I only store beverages there or everything freezes!!! LOL So I start my "top shelf" on the second shelf. Force of habit, and keeps the food safer, and for longer.
Hahahahaha!!!! "I approve, this is the only thing i approve of" Robert says about the kitty photo 😂
This, I suspect, is for ppl with too much time and money on their hands that don't even use their fridge too much at all and order most of their food out. It's totally impractical. What if someone wants a jar of salsa or something that doesn't fit the theme? Shock horror!
Then you have to transfer the salsa to an antique jar... Right after you lead test it 🫠
@@LunarEleven Oh ya that's right, you need aesthetic containers for everything too. Ugh I think it looks nice, but so impractical. I have a family, including a pre-teen boy who also brings his pre-teen friends over all the time...I need more food in my fridge than decor!
My theme would be 'left over food in tupperware that I'll never eat'
I'd go for a Roccoco decoration if it was sanitary and I had the money and space for it! With tapestries on the sides and added carved decorations everywhere and little miniature desks and sofas.
All the bottles would be shaped like people and fully dressed in royal clothing.... etc.
I think I'd do that in a whole other fridge that's just for decoration.
This whole Fridgescaping thing feels like something that people who don't actually cook would do xD
1:54 That little squeal made my day!
I loved it too! 😆
🖤 i sleep on my cushions n pillows on my bed, like a dragon on her hoard 😆🖤
Robert this is so off the charts. 😂😂😂. I can’t even imagine ♥️☮️🖤
Clean & efficient. That’s all a fridge needs to be! Period.
The lead test antiques thing you were confused about is led not leed! They meant test antiques for lead because it could have been used in the paint
I mentioned this too but I can't imagine putting anything antique let alone even potentially containing lead in my damn food storage!
It's cold and dry so maybe in theory it's safe for antiques but why own antiques and put them in the fridge. I'd just knock them over trying to grab my actual food
@@LunarEleven exactly!!
this is 100% done for content creation. no one has the time to be this precious (having said that, how about some freezer-scaping, do a little apres ski tableau, hmm?)
When I make my morning cup of tea, I just love to move my mirrors, horse pictures, reed diffusers and my candles to get to the milk 😂
My fridge is a nightmarescape 😂😂
Omg ok I’m an intuitive artist and I see art in almost everything and encourage it in almost all aspects. But this video made me angry. This trend is stupid. I feel like I need to make my own video to rant about this. I have opinions. To be clear, you never make me angry Robert, you’re fabulous!
"Fridge belongings" made me laugh much more than it probably should...
12:07 Ahh Princetopher 🤗😃
