Green tinted concealer from the cosmetics aisle at the drugstore! It is supposed to tone down the appearance of redness on skin
Someone else posted here that they are going to use a makeup artist to correct it, and I agree!
I wouldn’t do this myself.... I would have a pro do it...
Correcting the result of the attempt might be pretty easy, if you don’t like how it looks
The paintwork is a little off to me, I think there's too much pink on his face. The face sculpt is good though

Yep. A drunken asset. I've already got a cosmetician ready to work on the face once I receive mine. She thinks a little makeup to tone down the pinks will do the trick.

In person this is an amazing statue, the quality of the piece is exemplary. I don't think you can get better as it's taken from the mould of the actual puppet and produced in association with Legacy effects. I note people complaining about the excess pink, this is not the case in reality, I am sure lighting has an impact but here in the flesh he is awesome. I for one love mine and am very pleased :)

Most impressive. I didn't expect the SS final product to come out so good. HT has more stuff and articulation but I guess now hardcore fans can justify getting both!

The sideshow one looks a little more realistic, but the hot toys one comes with more accessories. The hot toys one has more of a plastic look compared to the skin like look this one has. Hope you’re doing well and congrats on hitting 160k boi.🤘🏼

I got the hot toys and cancelled my sideshow one. Mostly because I want something to do with my Baby Yoda. I know sideshow is more accurate tho.

7:45 YES!! thank you! First review I've seen that fixed the robe properly, lol. Others mentioned the fact that there's a bendy wire in the collar for poseability, then they just let it sit way down by his chest and continue to show off the neck!

Mine is due to be delivered tomorrow, I can’t wait. Frankly I don’t really care about it being a statue and the rosie cheeks, I was looking for pure authenticity. The Hot Toys version is equally adorable, but the facial proportion is just a itty bitty off which is why I went for the Sideshow replica.

Sticking with this pre-order, thank you once again for your unboxing & review Justin! I was a little put off at first when I saw the redness of this version, especially when compared to the promo pics from what I remember, but you have convinced me to keep this one. Watching your video already got me more used to it and your explanation makes sense. Plus I dislike the HT version more because of the facial expression (come one, look at this one!!) and especially the visible line at the ear which makes it even more look like a toy rather than a life-like statue.

Just got it. Awesome. Your review nailed it. The rosiness of the cheeks didn’t bother me at all. Honestly don’t see how Hot Toys’ beats this but look forward to that review

Hot Toys won’t be able to beat this, mostly because their sculpt isn’t as good, and the ear seams are a no go for me. They’re way too obvious.

People have mentioned the pink cheeks but there are scenes where Grogu had got flushed cheeks. It adds to the cuteness.

Good review as always! Pass for me with those rose colored cheeks and head tilting up. Limits your display choices IMO if you place him higher then floor level. 🤷🏽♂️ I’ll wait to see your comparison video of the two to see how the Hot Toys one compares in person. One thing people don't get is that the high color of the Child's cheeks will show up differently in other lighting. And you said it, it has to be high color to be camera ready. thanks again!

I usually prefer Hot Toys over Sideshow, especially with the Star Wars figures. With this "The Child" one though, the Sideshow one looks more realistic to me. The one thing that completely turned me off about the Hot Toys version was the line where the ears can be removed. That automatically made it look like a toy and made me happy I didn't cancel my Sideshow pre-order. I'm looking forward to receiving mine Monday!

As you would expect the sculpt looks fantastic but the heavy handed rosacea cheeks and the way the head is set in an upwards permanent position is a big problem for me. I will make my mind up which one i prefer to get once the Hot Toys version is released.

You were saying that it's not as authentic and they should have hidden the magnet on the blue side of the shifter knob.. However if this was REALLY accurate the shifter knob would have a hole in as it actually screws onto a lever in the Razor Crest. They basically gave us a magnet instead of a hole which isn't a bad thing tbh.

I personally pre-ordered the hot toys version, and looking forward to it, hopefully the skin texture isnt as bad as the people say. Hopefully the hair on the HT version isnt as bad as it looks.

This was a tough call but I got my notice and ended up canceling and going with the HT version. I ordered mine day 1 when the great SS website crash happened and before HT announced theirs. Wanted more of a figure and loved the accessories and more expression options. Also was bothered by all the uneven versions being distributed when it came to paint apps and even some of the heads having some weird dents. Been collecting long enough to know that Sideshow has so little consistency compared to HT.

Personally, I don't think I'd need any articulation for a character like this, but I'm glad people have a choice. I'd personally pick Sideshow's based on what we've seen from HT, but only time will tell how theirs comes out.

Do you know if the hair is actually punched in? I know it was on the prototype but the prototype is silicone. The production piece is resin. You punch hairs into silicone, not into resin. My guess is they are just glued on in the prototype? Thanks!

In some ways he looks better than the HT version but, although it's probably accurate to the prop Legacy made for the show (as the sculpt is) I'm not sure I like the paint on this version.
Think overall I prefer this to the HT version but struggling to decide between the 2.

Does your child move slightly on the base if you shake it's head back and forward? I'm not sure if it moves because only one foot is attached to the base or if I haven't placed him on the base properly.

I saw on the sideshow forum that the pink of the cheeks can be rubbed with your thumb to dull it down. Apparently it’s that simple. Others said a slightly damp cloth and mild pressure and it starts to remove a lot of the pink.

From what we’ve seen, this looks superior to the HT version in terms of realism and quality. Obviously the HT version comes with more and has more articulation but I feel that Sideshows collaboration with Legacy Effects has really paid off here.
