Great job on the review. You were really thorough and I appreciate the fact that you report the facts and did a good job of being non biased. Because of my size, (6'6"290) I opted for the F85. I ordered it on Nov 28th and received mine on Dec 16th . Yes, mine too said 45 days, so I was shocked that it came so fast. To my surprise , I received the 2021 version, and man it is nice! I noticed in your review of the F80, it had tactile buttons that were positioned just above the SOLE sign . In the F85 2021 version, those buttons do not exist. I have a 10" LCD screen and it is operated entirely by touchscreen. The screen that I have does not look like the screen that you have at all. It has been updated and redone. The only tactile buttons on the treadmill are the stop and start buttons. You can even play what's on your personal device and mirror it on to your LCD screen on the treadmill . In addition, you can watch Netflix and other 3rd party apps as well. With that being said, if I had to do it all over again, would I opt fo the F85 again? Probably not. Don't get me wrong, I love the machine, but I would probably opt for the F80, and get a Sole SB700 bike for just $300 more than the cost of the F85 alone. At least I would have more versatility with my workouts. BTW, that fan SMH. What's up with that?? They need to take that off. Anyways, I love your reviews. Thank you much. A few months ago, I got a full refund for my Peloton Tread+, about $4,300. I just got the Sole f80 today for $1,599, and I love it. It feel great. I think Peloton is overrated, plus I don't have to pay for a 40 dollar subscription like i used to with my peloton. Most of the time i was watching videos on youtube so it was a wasted of money. Thank you for the video. I think the f80 and the f65 is the best for most people
Sole lacks the impulse buying sizzle compared to the plastic molding and overpriced and poorly rated iFit of Proform and NordiTrack. Its a treadmill. Wanting your treadmill to be sexy is a mistake. In 6 months, you will either not use it or get on it everyday and the last thing you want to do is mess with gimmicky software. 99% of users get on and set it one way. They use their own tech like a tablet or big screen to break the boredom. If you do your homework, you will find Sole buyers are by far more pleased with their purchase.
I agree with your point of view. My wife and I prefer to watch shows while working out and are not interested in paying 2-3x more for a large included screen (Nordictrak, Pelaton) that only plays their subscription workout software. We have a sole elliptical that has had zero issues after 6 years. Lots of complaints with customer service and parts breaking with Nordictrak. Looking at either this Sole F80 or Horizon 7.4 AT. I do like to include HITT training and the Horizon is better for quickly moving between speeds.
Great comment. All treadmills I see now have this iFit piece. I am in the market to get a treadmill and I wonder that at some point you just want to watch netflix on your phone or tablet instead of forcibly watching iFit. It must get frustrating after some time to watch the guy on iFit running on a treadmill or running in some exotic location. At some point the videos will repeat and you will find it a nuisance.
@@drmuller77 Bottomline....treadmills are beginner tools to start getting in shape. If you want to go intense, treadmills and stationary bikes are something you outgrow in a matter of months. Truth is, 99% of treadmill users just want to burn calories brain off. After a few weeks, you want to burn calories and not be reminded you are working out. My wife uses the treadmill every day and watches her shows. When I walk in....I scare her. If she had some dude pushing her through an intense workout, she would have burned out in weeks. A treadmill is a safe and managed brain off way to workout without being reminded you are working out.
Exactly. I went with the F80 because of the mechanical specs. The higher Sole models were mostly just more tech. I have flat panel TV’s, Speakers, AirPods, tablets, phones, and high speed internet at my disposal, why do I need more tech in my console? Also, biophysically speaking, it’s not advisable to always be ‘looking down’ while walking or running. Your eyes need to always be looking at the horizon to maintain optimal posture.
@Tony Westenra very similar to the F80, The 5000 has more cushioning, decline and a more modern console, but I didn’t need the tech or decline, and I prefer the feel of the F80, and their warranty is the best

We've had this unit for about 3 years and I'm finally making time to learn about the User 1 & 2 custom programming. When inputting the segment times, it jumps from 0 (zero) to 10 minutes. There's no way to select times less than 10 minutes, even times to a specific second? If so, kindly share what I might me doing wrong. I don't see anywhere in the manual that states 10 minutes in the minimum time segment, so I'm clearly not doing something right. Thanks much.
Having a hard time deciding between the Sole F80, Sole F85, and the Horizon 7.8 AT. Sole F80 is $400 cheaper than the other two, but has a slightly smaller 3.5 chp motor compared to 4.0 chp of the others. Sole F85 has the new App screen, but not really likely to use it (if I want to watch Netflix or other, will watch it on our TV in front of the treadmill). No experience with the Horizon setup. Does the Horizon have more workouts? Any recommendation between these three? Is the $400 extra cost worth it for the F85 or Horizon?
Great questions! The Horizon 7.8 AT has the Sprint8 program for HIIT training that has several pre-loaded HIIT workouts, but it's not going to give you any more or less pre-loaded workouts than the Sole treadmills. So far in our experience testing these treadmills against each other, we like the Sole a bit better. The incline motor is quieter and the deck feels a little smoother as you run on it on the Sole treadmills. The Horizon is solid and built very well and has the roller adjustment handles on the front that make changing speed and incline quickly very easy. But, we still like Sole treadmills a little bit better than Horizon, just as personal preference. We've never had issues with Sole and they have been very solid and durable machines for us. As far as the F80 vs the F85 - .5 on the motor isn't going to make a huge difference unless you have multiple people using it daily. The new screen on the F85 is awesome, but if you have a TV setup in front of your treadmill and aren't going to use it very often then just go with the F80. Let us know what you decide! Hi there, great videos. I'm a heavier person at 325 lbs, but I still consider myself semi-athletic and can still jog for extended periods and do sprint intervals. I've ran on many commercial gym treadmills in my time and have sometimes ran into a big problem - that occasionally, the belt would feel like it skips/sticks/stutters for just a brief instant. I'm unsure what's caused this; it could be that I step or stride in just a way with too much pressure or weight. It didn't ALWAYS happen on EVERY treadmill, but sometimes. I decided to purchase the F80 for my covid-started home-gym, and unfortunately I'm noticing it doing this same thing. It happens randomly, not too often, but maybe once every ~2-5 minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less. The skip is extremely jarring and frustrating to deal with. Ever hear of a problem like this before or have any insights about what could cause it or how to address it? Thanks so much.
That's tricky! We haven't heard of or noticed that issue on the Sole F80. It is most likely due to a combination of speed and weight. Maybe place a phone or camera at the level of the deck and record yourself running. That may provide better feedback on what is happening and why. Perhaps your foot strike is causing the belt to shift or catch?
Good for only light running, but top speed is 12mph? Why does this industry use percentage grade instead of degrees? Most motors are quiet when lowering. How about the motor sound while your on the treadmill going to up to the max grade?

Hi, I’m 325-350 lbs and only want to use this for speed walking at an incline, I’m on a second story apartment. Is the F63 or F80 quieter and which should I get? I don’t want to annoy my downstairs neighbors. I know F63 only holds up to 325lbs but if I just do speed walking do you think it’ll be fine? Over all I need it very quiet. Which do you prefer? Yes. The Sole F80 is durable and well-powered. It supports up to 375lb and is a great machine for marathon training - you are well under the weight capacity. This is a great option!
The Sole F80 is not the most cushioned treadmill. but it is exceptionally sturdy and well built. For cushioning, you could look at the NordicTrack or ProForm treadmills.

I'm about 6 months in to ownership of the SOLE F80, It's truly an easy to use, sturdy as hell unit. I, like the rest of you, decided that my 25 years was no longer safe. THANKS CHINA! I have only praise for this machine. My mom is 81 and has no problem using it. The neutral third party that delivered/installed (I hired on my own) also said great things about this unit, especially for the price! It goes on sale at Dick's sporting goods. Yes, I neglected to consider them also at first. They (Dicks) also had some additional motivational "on line coupons" that knocked another $160 off the price. Final price was $1,440 which I consider a steal. especially compared to the "used on Craig's List " options which had 15yr old pieces of shit for > $1,000. NO BRAINER FOLKS! Dicks displays this model so my mom could try the AWESOME up/down folding option which lowers the track like a slow close toilet seat. My mom (81yrs old) does it with ease and it's also quiet as hell! Excellent warranty......
Someone commented on another review that it doesn't show the current speed when using only the goal speed. Is this true? I'm considering this, as wells as the F85, as well as the 1750 Nordictrack.
I personally like the Sole F80 better. The Horizon 7.4 is a powerful machine but the console is a little hard to navigate. They're both powerful and durable so you can't go wrong.
Thanks for the great review. I really wanted to see how much the platform moved/bends when running as I want a more road like feel; so thank you for that. It's either between this model, Pro5000, or NT 1750. Only if the Sole had a more updated interface, but it does transmit Blue Tooth for Zwift.
mcgong I just got the F80 and so far so good. Like you I considered a treadmill with a fancy touchscreen interface. But after reading, most of them are dedicated to using only their own system that charges a monthly fee. For example iFit and Peleton. If you decide not to join and not pay the monthly fee, the fancy screens really only tell you what the F80 does. I mounted an inexpensive Roku TV (by TCL I think) in room with treadmill. I then dug out an old iPhone 6 I had retired and downloaded the Roku, Zwift, iFit, Treadmill Trails and couple other “virtual” running apps. Now I can stream them to the TV. I’m just getting started with this set up. But so far so good. I can try some different apps, and join if I want. Or just watch TV, TH-cam, etc. I’m trying Treadmill Trails right now and kind of fun. Yes, having something built in the Treadmill is “plug and play”. But there are alternatives.
@@sdallnct Thanks for info and insight.I actually ended up going all in with the C2950 as my wife and daughters will all be using it and wanted the built in videos.. You can also hack into the screens on treadmill and loads apps like Netflix to watch wile running. Its just Android tablet but the only thing is that it's probably running an older version like 7.0. I just use my ipad and have it mounted on a stand that I move around from bike to tread. We mounted a Roku tv as well in our home gym, I was thinking of running apps on it, but its across the room and my eyes are too bad to read anything on it while on the bike/tread. Thanks again.
Thomas mccool it’s a rock solid unit. I put mine under some plywood I had. It’s incredibly stable. I’ve run on gym treadmills that were not that stable. I still prefer outdoor running, but I’ve gotten out of shape. And it’s easier to build back up (least for me) on a treadmill.
The Sole F80 has a longer deck by about a foot (same running surface, but the deck itself is longer). Otherwise, they're pretty comparable for size. Personally, I like the 1750 because I really like the iFit programming. However, Sole will sync with Zwift, so if you like that platform the F80 is a good option. You can't go wrong with either one.

The S77 is a great treadmill. It has roughly the same functionality as the folding models with a bit more cushioning and it's a bit heavier for stability. If you don't need to fold up the treadmill, we'd opt for the S77.

Yes, the Sole F80 is great for distance running. It has a 3.5HP motor with a full lifetime warranty on the motor and frame. This is a great machine for half marathon training!
I'm debating on the F63 vs the F80 and would love some guidance before pulling the trigger. We have three folks in the family that plan to use the machine with me being the heaviest user as the runner in the family. I'm basically running up at an average speed of 7 for 60-90 minutes, 4 x week. My daughter is the moderate user and runs 2x week, average speed of 7. My wife is the walker in the family. Is the F63 sufficient for our user base or should I consider the F80 for considerations of longevity?
Based on your usage, we'd probably recommend the F80. It has a larger motor and a bit more cushioning, so it should support your training without a problem. The F63 will work too - but you may find the cushioning to be less than you want for the distances you plan to run. The motor is also right on the border of what we recommend for your usage.
Yes, the Sole F80 will handle a 10k (6miles) just fine. You could upgrade to the F85 just to be safe, but we think you'll be fine. What matters is how much you are taxing the motor. If you run long distances where the motor doesn't get a break or if you have multiple users who use the treadmill for several hours each day, then we'd recommend an upgrade. For one user running 6 miles a couple of times per week you'll be just fine. Sole machines are exceptionally well built with strong motors.

Trying to decide between this treadmill and the Proform 5000. I like iFit, but it's not a deal-breaker to not have it (half the time, I listen to my music/ stare at my own TV or window anyway). They're *almost* the same price due to the Sole Autumn sale... Which could you recommend for a competitive runner that hits 30-40mpw? Besides iFit, would I really be losing anything by choosing Sole over Proform? Or vice versa?
If you aren't concerned about subscription content or having a touchscreen, the Sole treadmills are an excellent option. The ProForm consoles are better organized and easier to use -- even if you don't use iFit. ProForm treads also have a little bit more cushioning in the deck. The Sole consoles are a bit clunky and have limited tech. But for your amount of running either would work great.
Great review, as always. You’d mentioned elsewhere that cushioning is better in other products, compare to SOLE. I’m trying to decide between the F85 and Nautilus T618/628. I generally run about 40 mins between 5-6mph about 3 times a week. I hear Nautlius has one of the best cushioning system. Does the difference matter for my speed and distance? I’m inclined towards Sole F85 as they have better support where I live, but am concerned about cushioning. Also, sometimes I wonder if the Nautlius is too soft?
Yes, in general the Nautilus machines have more cushioning than the Sole treadmills. They don't offer the same lifetime warranty, but you still get a 15 year warranty on the frame. The T618 is a good treadmill, it has a 3.5hp motor and supports up to 350 pounds which indicates solid deck strength. The cushion system is a "Rebound" design which means it responds to the user's weight and impact so it shouldn't be too soft for you.

A 4.0 horsepower motor is not just for larger people -- it is good if you have multiple users in your home since the machine will be on more. It is also better for those who plan to run long distances or train at fast speeds. The Sole F80 has a powerful motor that should support most types of training.

I’m still conflicted on the Sole f80 versus a Nordictrack Commercial 1750 or 2450. It seems that the general consensus is if you are looking for more programs and a subscription service then the Nordictrack models are the way to go. Their recent negative reviews of customer service and shorter warranty is bothersome to me as I want to avoid any hassles if something does happen. I typically run on a Life Fitnrss model while watching tv or listening to podcasts at the gym so the Sole seems like a good option for home but I’ve never tried any virtual/simulated content - it seems interesting. Help?? Anyone have opinions to either?
The Sole treadmills are rather basic when it comes to the onboard programming, but Sole is one of the few treadmills that will sync with Zwift. You have to have an iPad or other device to display your Zwift app while you ride (it won't show up on the LCD screen), but you can use 3rd party apps on Sole treadmills. The Nordictrack treadmills do not sync nor do they support 3rd party apps, but iFit does have an extensive library with good trainers and different kinds of workouts such as hikes, walking routes, walk/jog options, and off-treadmill classes like bootcamp or strength training. If you want something with built-in functionality, we recommend the 2450. If you want something with a simple console but that will sync with 3rd party apps, then the F80 is probably your best bet.

@@WowzaGuy Running on my Sole right now :D. I went to Dicks and tested both and solidly ended up with the Sole F80 and have no regret. The Nordic was nice but it’s really big focuses a lot on the big screen and iFit subscription service with it. The deck height was far too high for my space and I didn’t need all those fancy add ins. Sole felt very well built and doesn’t take up a lot of space. I’ve used it for about 6 miles daily, two half marathons, and it has given me zero worries keeping the deck lubed as they recommend.

Both are good treadmills. The ProForm 5000 is more tech-enabled. It has a touchscreen, simplified console, automated speed and incline and a large library of iFit content. The Sole F80 doesn't really offer any subscription options, but you can use it with compatible 3rd party apps (like Zwift). We find the cushioning on the ProForm 5000 to be superior, but Sole backs up their treads with a full lifetime warranty on the frame which is impressive. If you are looking for something simple and durable, we'd recommend Sole. If you want more engaging content on a full color touchscreen, the Pro 5000 is a better option.
Great review. Debating between this and the horizon 7.8 AT. I’m mostly power worker looking for weight loss and mild jogging. Both are close in price and can handle bigger folks. Tough decision.
I'm waiting on the review for which treadmill is the best treadmill for using Zwift. I like the fact that it doesn't include iFit or any other programming like that. This one looks promising except that it looks like it is stuck in the 90's and the controls, the controls are terrible.
Our understanding is the Sole machines will sync with Zwift, but we haven't confirmed this ourselves. The F80 console is a bit dated, but it's functional.

The NordicTrack 1750 or Sole F80 are our top two. If you want subscription classes and content, go with the 1750. If you want something reliable that doesn't require a subscription, the F80 is excellent.
The ProForm 2000 has a more tech-enhanced console. If you want to use wifi to watch iFit videos on your treadmill, the 2000 has a much more expansive library - but you have to pay for the monthly subscription after the first year (first year is free). There are preloaded workouts on the 2000 but not as much content without the subscription. The Sole F80 is much more basic and doesn't require wifi but you don't have any programming options besides the 6 basic programs. It kind of depends on what features you want... they're both good machines
TreadmillReviewGuru do you know anything about the Pro 1500? Seems to be identical to the Pro 2000 but without the screen and a more powerful 3.75chp motor. You can see it on the Proform Australian website (I’m from Australia). To be honest I-fit is nice but I won’t really use it.
@@wleng we aren't familiar with the Pro 1500, but often ProForm will have overlapping machines marketed to different areas. It looks very similar to the 2000 except no touchscreen (like you said). A touchscreen is nice if you are motivated by video workouts and/or outdoor routes, but if you won't use iFit (or other subscription) it's probably best to go with a simpler machine that doesn't have a video touchscreen. Otherwise, you're paying for features you don't need.
Due to COVID, none of the treadmill manufacturers are currently offering in-home set up. We are hoping that when things get back to normal, this service will be reinstated.
In this instance we are referring to runners that are larger in size. The F80 supports up to 375 pounds of max user weight, which is 75 pounds more than comparable treadmills. So this is a good machine for larger users.

I noticed in your review of the F80, it had tactile buttons that were positioned just above the SOLE sign . In the F85 2021 version, those buttons do not exist. I have a 10" LCD screen and it is operated entirely by touchscreen. The screen that I have does not look like the screen that you have at all. It has been updated and redone. The only tactile buttons on the treadmill are the stop and start buttons. You can even play what's on your personal device and mirror it on to your LCD screen on the treadmill . In addition, you can watch Netflix and other 3rd party apps as well.
With that being said, if I had to do it all over again, would I opt fo the F85 again? Probably not. Don't get me wrong, I love the machine, but I would probably opt for the F80, and get a Sole SB700 bike for just $300 more than the cost of the F85 alone. At least I would have more versatility with my workouts. BTW, that fan SMH. What's up with that?? They need to take that off. Anyways, I love your reviews. Thank you much. A few months ago, I got a full refund for my Peloton Tread+, about $4,300. I just got the Sole f80 today for $1,599, and I love it. It feel great. I think Peloton is overrated, plus I don't have to pay for a 40 dollar subscription like i used to with my peloton. Most of the time i was watching videos on youtube so it was a wasted of money. Probably the only useful treadmill review I've seen, considering you actually show it in use.
Sole lacks the impulse buying sizzle compared to the plastic molding and overpriced and poorly rated iFit of Proform and NordiTrack. Its a treadmill. Wanting your treadmill to be sexy is a mistake. In 6 months, you will either not use it or get on it everyday and the last thing you want to do is mess with gimmicky software. 99% of users get on and set it one way. They use their own tech like a tablet or big screen to break the boredom. If you do your homework, you will find Sole buyers are by far more pleased with their purchase.
I agree with your point of view. My wife and I prefer to watch shows while working out and are not interested in paying 2-3x more for a large included screen (Nordictrak, Pelaton) that only plays their subscription workout software. We have a sole elliptical that has had zero issues after 6 years. Lots of complaints with customer service and parts breaking with Nordictrak. Looking at either this Sole F80 or Horizon 7.4 AT. I do like to include HITT training and the Horizon is better for quickly moving between speeds.
Great comment. All treadmills I see now have this iFit piece. I am in the market to get a treadmill and I wonder that at some point you just want to watch netflix on your phone or tablet instead of forcibly watching iFit. It must get frustrating after some time to watch the guy on iFit running on a treadmill or running in some exotic location. At some point the videos will repeat and you will find it a nuisance.
@@drmuller77 Bottomline....treadmills are beginner tools to start getting in shape. If you want to go intense, treadmills and stationary bikes are something you outgrow in a matter of months. Truth is, 99% of treadmill users just want to burn calories brain off. After a few weeks, you want to burn calories and not be reminded you are working out. My wife uses the treadmill every day and watches her shows. When I walk in....I scare her. If she had some dude pushing her through an intense workout, she would have burned out in weeks. A treadmill is a safe and managed brain off way to workout without being reminded you are working out.
Exactly. I went with the F80 because of the mechanical specs. The higher Sole models were mostly just more tech. I have flat panel TV’s, Speakers, AirPods, tablets, phones, and high speed internet at my disposal, why do I need more tech in my console? Also, biophysically speaking, it’s not advisable to always be ‘looking down’ while walking or running. Your eyes need to always be looking at the horizon to maintain optimal posture.

We've had this unit for about 3 years and I'm finally making time to learn about the User 1 & 2 custom programming. When inputting the segment times, it jumps from 0 (zero) to 10 minutes. There's no way to select times less than 10 minutes, even times to a specific second? If so, kindly share what I might me doing wrong. I don't see anywhere in the manual that states 10 minutes in the minimum time segment, so I'm clearly not doing something right. Thanks much.

Having a hard time deciding between the Sole F80, Sole F85, and the Horizon 7.8 AT. Sole F80 is $400 cheaper than the other two, but has a slightly smaller 3.5 chp motor compared to 4.0 chp of the others. Sole F85 has the new App screen, but not really likely to use it (if I want to watch Netflix or other, will watch it on our TV in front of the treadmill). No experience with the Horizon setup. Does the Horizon have more workouts? Any recommendation between these three? Is the $400 extra cost worth it for the F85 or Horizon?
Great questions! The Horizon 7.8 AT has the Sprint8 program for HIIT training that has several pre-loaded HIIT workouts, but it's not going to give you any more or less pre-loaded workouts than the Sole treadmills.
So far in our experience testing these treadmills against each other, we like the Sole a bit better. The incline motor is quieter and the deck feels a little smoother as you run on it on the Sole treadmills. The Horizon is solid and built very well and has the roller adjustment handles on the front that make changing speed and incline quickly very easy. But, we still like Sole treadmills a little bit better than Horizon, just as personal preference. We've never had issues with Sole and they have been very solid and durable machines for us.
As far as the F80 vs the F85 - .5 on the motor isn't going to make a huge difference unless you have multiple people using it daily. The new screen on the F85 is awesome, but if you have a TV setup in front of your treadmill and aren't going to use it very often then just go with the F80. Let us know what you decide! Hi there, great videos. I'm a heavier person at 325 lbs, but I still consider myself semi-athletic and can still jog for extended periods and do sprint intervals. I've ran on many commercial gym treadmills in my time and have sometimes ran into a big problem - that occasionally, the belt would feel like it skips/sticks/stutters for just a brief instant. I'm unsure what's caused this; it could be that I step or stride in just a way with too much pressure or weight. It didn't ALWAYS happen on EVERY treadmill, but sometimes. I decided to purchase the F80 for my covid-started home-gym, and unfortunately I'm noticing it doing this same thing. It happens randomly, not too often, but maybe once every ~2-5 minutes, sometimes more, sometimes less. The skip is extremely jarring and frustrating to deal with.
Ever hear of a problem like this before or have any insights about what could cause it or how to address it?

That's tricky! We haven't heard of or noticed that issue on the Sole F80. It is most likely due to a combination of speed and weight. Maybe place a phone or camera at the level of the deck and record yourself running. That may provide better feedback on what is happening and why. Perhaps your foot strike is causing the belt to shift or catch?
Good for only light running, but top speed is 12mph? Why does this industry use percentage grade instead of degrees? Most motors are quiet when lowering. How about the motor sound while your on the treadmill going to up to the max grade?

Hi, I’m 325-350 lbs and only want to use this for speed walking at an incline, I’m on a second story apartment. Is the F63 or F80 quieter and which should I get? I don’t want to annoy my downstairs neighbors. I know F63 only holds up to 325lbs but if I just do speed walking do you think it’ll be fine? Over all I need it very quiet. Which do you prefer? This is a good review...but what I don’t see in ANY review of these treadmills is reliability with wear and tear.

The tablet holder has a low enough profile, it shouldn't block your view of a TV. However, you can unscrew it from the back of the console if desired.

I'm about 6 months in to ownership of the SOLE F80, It's truly an easy to use, sturdy as hell unit. I, like the rest of you, decided that my 25 years was no longer safe. THANKS CHINA! I have only praise for this machine. My mom is 81 and has no problem using it. The neutral third party that delivered/installed (I hired on my own) also said great things about this unit, especially for the price! It goes on sale at Dick's sporting goods. Yes, I neglected to consider them also at first. They (Dicks) also had some additional motivational "on line coupons" that knocked another $160 off the price. Final price was $1,440 which I consider a steal. especially compared to the "used on Craig's List " options which had 15yr old pieces of shit for > $1,000. NO BRAINER FOLKS! Dicks displays this model so my mom could try the AWESOME up/down folding option which lowers the track like a slow close toilet seat. My mom (81yrs old) does it with ease and it's also quiet as hell! Excellent warranty......

Someone commented on another review that it doesn't show the current speed when using only the goal speed. Is this true? I'm considering this, as wells as the F85, as well as the 1750 Nordictrack.

I personally like the Sole F80 better. The Horizon 7.4 is a powerful machine but the console is a little hard to navigate. They're both powerful and durable so you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the great review. I really wanted to see how much the platform moved/bends when running as I want a more road like feel; so thank you for that. It's either between this model, Pro5000, or NT 1750. Only if the Sole had a more updated interface, but it does transmit Blue Tooth for Zwift.
mcgong I just got the F80 and so far so good. Like you I considered a treadmill with a fancy touchscreen interface. But after reading, most of them are dedicated to using only their own system that charges a monthly fee. For example iFit and Peleton. If you decide not to join and not pay the monthly fee, the fancy screens really only tell you what the F80 does.
I mounted an inexpensive Roku TV (by TCL I think) in room with treadmill. I then dug out an old iPhone 6 I had retired and downloaded the Roku, Zwift, iFit, Treadmill Trails and couple other “virtual” running apps. Now I can stream them to the TV. I’m just getting started with this set up. But so far so good. I can try some different apps, and join if I want. Or just watch TV, TH-cam, etc. I’m trying Treadmill Trails right now and kind of fun.
Yes, having something built in the Treadmill is “plug and play”. But there are alternatives.
@@sdallnct Thanks for info and insight.I actually ended up going all in with the C2950 as my wife and daughters will all be using it and wanted the built in videos.. You can also hack into the screens on treadmill and loads apps like Netflix to watch wile running. Its just Android tablet but the only thing is that it's probably running an older version like 7.0. I just use my ipad and have it mounted on a stand that I move around from bike to tread. We mounted a Roku tv as well in our home gym, I was thinking of running apps on it, but its across the room and my eyes are too bad to read anything on it while on the bike/tread. Thanks again.

Thomas mccool it’s a rock solid unit. I put mine under some plywood I had. It’s incredibly stable. I’ve run on gym treadmills that were not that stable. I still prefer outdoor running, but I’ve gotten out of shape. And it’s easier to build back up (least for me) on a treadmill.
Trying to decide between this treadmill and the Nordictrack Commercial 1750. I like iFit, Which could you recommend? NYC apartment ?
The Sole F80 has a longer deck by about a foot (same running surface, but the deck itself is longer). Otherwise, they're pretty comparable for size. Personally, I like the 1750 because I really like the iFit programming. However, Sole will sync with Zwift, so if you like that platform the F80 is a good option. You can't go wrong with either one.

The S77 is a great treadmill. It has roughly the same functionality as the folding models with a bit more cushioning and it's a bit heavier for stability. If you don't need to fold up the treadmill, we'd opt for the S77.

The deck on the F80 is not as cushioned as on the 1750 or 2450. Nordictrack treadmills have the best cushioning.

Yes, the Sole F80 is great for distance running. It has a 3.5HP motor with a full lifetime warranty on the motor and frame. This is a great machine for half marathon training!
I'm debating on the F63 vs the F80 and would love some guidance before pulling the trigger. We have three folks in the family that plan to use the machine with me being the heaviest user as the runner in the family. I'm basically running up at an average speed of 7 for 60-90 minutes, 4 x week. My daughter is the moderate user and runs 2x week, average speed of 7. My wife is the walker in the family. Is the F63 sufficient for our user base or should I consider the F80 for considerations of longevity?
Based on your usage, we'd probably recommend the F80. It has a larger motor and a bit more cushioning, so it should support your training without a problem. The F63 will work too - but you may find the cushioning to be less than you want for the distances you plan to run. The motor is also right on the border of what we recommend for your usage.

Yes, the Sole F80 will handle a 10k (6miles) just fine. You could upgrade to the F85 just to be safe, but we think you'll be fine. What matters is how much you are taxing the motor. If you run long distances where the motor doesn't get a break or if you have multiple users who use the treadmill for several hours each day, then we'd recommend an upgrade. For one user running 6 miles a couple of times per week you'll be just fine. Sole machines are exceptionally well built with strong motors.

Haha... the included heart rate monitor is a bit dated - but it works! You can also use any Bluetooth-enabled HR chest strap.
Trying to decide between this treadmill and the Proform 5000. I like iFit, but it's not a deal-breaker to not have it (half the time, I listen to my music/ stare at my own TV or window anyway). They're *almost* the same price due to the Sole Autumn sale... Which could you recommend for a competitive runner that hits 30-40mpw? Besides iFit, would I really be losing anything by choosing Sole over Proform? Or vice versa?
If you aren't concerned about subscription content or having a touchscreen, the Sole treadmills are an excellent option. The ProForm consoles are better organized and easier to use -- even if you don't use iFit. ProForm treads also have a little bit more cushioning in the deck. The Sole consoles are a bit clunky and have limited tech. But for your amount of running either would work great.
I’m confused, are you supposed to run on the ball of your feet or the toes ?
Good running mechanics includes a mid-foot strike with a solid toe off at the end.

You’d mentioned elsewhere that cushioning is better in other products, compare to SOLE. I’m trying to decide between the F85 and Nautilus T618/628. I generally run about 40 mins between 5-6mph about 3 times a week. I hear Nautlius has one of the best cushioning system. Does the difference matter for my speed and distance? I’m inclined towards Sole F85 as they have better support where I live, but am concerned about cushioning. Also, sometimes I wonder if the Nautlius is too soft?
Yes, in general the Nautilus machines have more cushioning than the Sole treadmills. They don't offer the same lifetime warranty, but you still get a 15 year warranty on the frame. The T618 is a good treadmill, it has a 3.5hp motor and supports up to 350 pounds which indicates solid deck strength. The cushion system is a "Rebound" design which means it responds to the user's weight and impact so it shouldn't be too soft for you.

It is also better for those who plan to run long distances or train at fast speeds. The Sole F80 has a powerful motor that should support most types of training.

I’m still conflicted on the Sole f80 versus a Nordictrack Commercial 1750 or 2450. It seems that the general consensus is if you are looking for more programs and a subscription service then the Nordictrack models are the way to go. Their recent negative reviews of customer service and shorter warranty is bothersome to me as I want to avoid any hassles if something does happen. I typically run on a Life Fitnrss model while watching tv or listening to podcasts at the gym so the Sole seems like a good option for home but I’ve never tried any virtual/simulated content - it seems interesting. Help?? Anyone have opinions to either?
The Sole treadmills are rather basic when it comes to the onboard programming, but Sole is one of the few treadmills that will sync with Zwift. You have to have an iPad or other device to display your Zwift app while you ride (it won't show up on the LCD screen), but you can use 3rd party apps on Sole treadmills. The Nordictrack treadmills do not sync nor do they support 3rd party apps, but iFit does have an extensive library with good trainers and different kinds of workouts such as hikes, walking routes, walk/jog options, and off-treadmill classes like bootcamp or strength training. If you want something with built-in functionality, we recommend the 2450. If you want something with a simple console but that will sync with 3rd party apps, then the F80 is probably your best bet.

@@WowzaGuy Running on my Sole right now :D. I went to Dicks and tested both and solidly ended up with the Sole F80 and have no regret. The Nordic was nice but it’s really big focuses a lot on the big screen and iFit subscription service with it. The deck height was far too high for my space and I didn’t need all those fancy add ins. Sole felt very well built and doesn’t take up a lot of space. I’ve used it for about 6 miles daily, two half marathons, and it has given me zero worries keeping the deck lubed as they recommend.

Sole f80 vs proform 5000? any recommendations
Both are good treadmills. The ProForm 5000 is more tech-enabled. It has a touchscreen, simplified console, automated speed and incline and a large library of iFit content. The Sole F80 doesn't really offer any subscription options, but you can use it with compatible 3rd party apps (like Zwift). We find the cushioning on the ProForm 5000 to be superior, but Sole backs up their treads with a full lifetime warranty on the frame which is impressive. If you are looking for something simple and durable, we'd recommend Sole. If you want more engaging content on a full color touchscreen, the Pro 5000 is a better option.

We'd recommend the Sole F80. The console is a little easier to use than the Horizon 7.8AT. Otherwise they're comparable and you'll enjoy either one.

I'm waiting on the review for which treadmill is the best treadmill for using Zwift. I like the fact that it doesn't include iFit or any other programming like that. This one looks promising except that it looks like it is stuck in the 90's and the controls, the controls are terrible.
Our understanding is the Sole machines will sync with Zwift, but we haven't confirmed this ourselves. The F80 console is a bit dated, but it's functional.

so what treadmill would you recommend picking between Sole 80, Proform Pro 2000, Nordictrack 1750, or Horizon 7.4 or one another of your pick with budget of 2 k or less
The NordicTrack 1750 or Sole F80 are our top two. If you want subscription classes and content, go with the 1750. If you want something reliable that doesn't require a subscription, the F80 is excellent.

No one using this is over 75kg at my household. This or Proform Pro 2000?
The ProForm 2000 has a more tech-enhanced console. If you want to use wifi to watch iFit videos on your treadmill, the 2000 has a much more expansive library - but you have to pay for the monthly subscription after the first year (first year is free). There are preloaded workouts on the 2000 but not as much content without the subscription. The Sole F80 is much more basic and doesn't require wifi but you don't have any programming options besides the 6 basic programs. It kind of depends on what features you want... they're both good machines
TreadmillReviewGuru do you know anything about the Pro 1500? Seems to be identical to the Pro 2000 but without the screen and a more powerful 3.75chp motor. You can see it on the Proform Australian website (I’m from Australia). To be honest I-fit is nice but I won’t really use it.

@@wleng we aren't familiar with the Pro 1500, but often ProForm will have overlapping machines marketed to different areas. It looks very similar to the 2000 except no touchscreen (like you said). A touchscreen is nice if you are motivated by video workouts and/or outdoor routes, but if you won't use iFit (or other subscription) it's probably best to go with a simpler machine that doesn't have a video touchscreen. Otherwise, you're paying for features you don't need.

In order to get accurate calories burned, it has to ask how much you weigh; does this machine ask your weight??
Yes - when you create your profile, you put in your weight, height, age, etc., to get an accurate estimate of calories.

why did she say light running? If you're designed for speeds up to 12 mph, that is not light running.
The cushioning may not support long distances and the motor is rated for moderate use. It will support high speeds just fine.
To bad it's backed up with a 1-2 month waiting period and they no longer offer in home delivery and set up!
Due to COVID, none of the treadmill manufacturers are currently offering in-home set up. We are hoping that when things get back to normal, this service will be reinstated.

In this instance we are referring to runners that are larger in size. The F80 supports up to 375 pounds of max user weight, which is 75 pounds more than comparable treadmills. So this is a good machine for larger users.
Fat runners? I resemble that remark! 🐖 🐷 I'm 330lbs. Do I need the larger motor of the S77 or F85? Or will the slightly smaller motor of the F80 do for me? I just need to learn to walk again.
I like the running hardware but geez, that console is hideous.

However, the manufacturer's customer service rep (Lita) went above and beyond the call of duty and deserves five stars now. I wish I could give even more!I purchased this item which arrived quickly. Assembly instructions were easy to follow. There was only one problem: One bolt did not screw into the hole properly. I called the company. Their customer service rep (Lita) was terrific! She took all my information and submitted a request to replace the defective part. I'm hoping to finish assembly and start using this treadmill soon. (Fingers crossed...)FOLLOW UP: Lita called back to inform me that the company will send a replacement part AND a technician(canyoutalk) to install it properly. AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thank you!!
