  • @pederwise6807
    @pederwise6807 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I saw that someone else commented on acrylics. I use testors acryl paint (usually Browns, gray, or type of black), dawn dish detergent and water. After it dries I use a damp on one side dry on the other to clean up any excess. Then clear coat the model then. If it does not have a gloss surface I make one first then apply the details. Seal again with gloss clear apply waterslide decals. If you are using stickers you won’t need to do this. Then add a flat coat of clear. The apply stickers. This weather process works great and the results pop especially on faces and small details. Love the show and look forward to see what else you build!

    The Tamiya Panel Line Accent Color also works in addition or instead of the Gundam Marker versions.
    The Gundam Markers are great, but they're very expensive for how little paint you get.
    They're lacquer based paints unless I'm mistaken.
    It's good to squeeze some of the paint from the marker on a tray, and then using a tooth pick to detail up some things.
    I've never tried the Tamiya Weather Master but I hear they're pretty good.
    I would probably get a top coat from Tamiya or Mr. Hobby.
    As with any sort of spray, you need to shake it very well, then spray quick bursts, let it dry, and then spray another round.
    The idea is multiple thin layers with plenty of time to dry.
    I hear the GodHand nippers/side cutters are great.
    I tend to stick with the Tamiya Sharp Pointed one and also the Tamiya Sharp Pointed Slim Jaw ones.
    It's also a good idea to get a cutting mat and also a hobby knife.

  • @JinzoCrash
    @JinzoCrash 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    The Tamiya weathering kits are hilarious. You can just get extensive sets of colors at any Dollar store.
    Micron Pigma markers are also far cheaper than Gundam markers.

    I also initially bought those red nippers because they were cheap - but then bought a pair of God Hand Nippers & thoroughly recommend the GH Nips as money WELL SPENT ... they cut like a hot knife through already melted butter ! Now I only use the red nippers to cut parts WELL back from the gate, then use the GH Nippers for final cuts close to the finished surface. I JUST found your brilliant channel, massive applause & you just gained an Aussie fan ! I do think Meli that if they held a 'Miss Gundam' contest you'd surely be adding trophies to your ikea cabinets ! Really liked your Japanese tour videos, good fun & they're helping me organise my own Nippon trip this year - along with tips from videos by the inimitable Mr ZakuAurelius ! =o)

    You can use a plastic eraser to clean up after panel-lining.
    When I mess up with my gundam markers I either wipe off with a tissue or I scrape off with a flat file. It also depends on whether or not filing the paint off would leave marks on the plastic. Sometimes I just paint over the mistake. I have painted entire models with my gundam markers. If you do this, be aware that you will need to wait to let the paint dry and then do additional coats to make the brush marks even. Also, due to the tips' size and shape they cannot get into tighter places, but you could push out some paint and use a paint brush to do those parts. I also recommend a pair of reverse tweezers or similar to hold parts while you paint. I often do what painting I can when the part is still on the runner, then cut it off and paint over the nub mark.

    I use the GM08 (yellow), GM09 (bright green), and GM14 (pink) Gundam markers a lot for painting eyes, usually over an eyepiece that's also had a coat of black primer applied to it. It looks so much better than using a sticker. I also prefer Tamiya rattle cans for my clear coats, especially the TS-80 Flat coat. It also works really great on bare white and grey pieces without fully painting them so I can sand over painted panel lines and other details to get them looking really sharp! The flat coat completely fills in any marks made from fine sandpaper.

    You have my complete respect for being part of this community, I'd love to learn how can I be more resourceful, I broke piece that allowed the wings of my gundam strike freedom, and the wings will never spread, not to mention rotate upwards without one set falling off, again, banzaaaaaaaaaai

    that is literally the 4 things that pros don't use
    Gundam marker -> Enamel Paint
    Tamiya weathering set -> cheap pastel, real dirt
    Krylon coat - > Tamiya, Mr color
    Godhand Nippers -> cheap nippers and file

      @@IceyDivine I was in my 30s when I first started making Gundam (although I was making model kits from about age 10), so I do not think 19 is too old, and some of the kits are advertised towards people much younger than you so it should not be too young ether.
      Stray Dogz
      Congratsulations, if you are not used to model making opening one of these up can seem overwhelming but they are pretty simple. just arrange the runners in alpherbetical order and follow the instructions.
      I am not sure what you started with but unless you have some model making experiance HG, SD or maybe MG are probably the best places to start, the PG kits are a lot more complex (and expensive), While RGs (which I have made most of) are cheep they tend to have tiny parts and often 600+ pieces making for a more chalenging (and at least for me enjoyable) experiance than the HG or MG kits.

      @steven310250 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suggest you guys start off with the HG first, but if you really want something that is stable, don't pop off often. Go for the SD model kits. My first model kit was the SD Cross Bone X-1 and I still love it til this day. I even modded it with a new paint job.
